Curious though, did you note any chocolate notes in it? I never did, but wanted to know if your refined taste buds did...

Wow, now I've got folks snowed into believing that my taste buds are "refined." ROTFLMAO. Oh yeah, and if you believe that, I've got a bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you. Honest, I really think that my taste buds are no more refined than yours or most other posters/readers to this thread. And if they are slightly more refined, it's solely because of this thread and all the comparison taste testing I've done over the past month. (About every third day, my taste buds just blow out from all these RY4s.)

As for Tribeca and chocolate---nope, none to my taste. Just really good classic RY4 ingredients---tobacco, caramel, vanilla---all swathed in Halo's signature aura of "purity" (or bug spray, depending on how one leans). If you taste purity, then Tribeca is one of the greatest juices ever. If not, well, then you get my review.

Think of your taste as a benchmark or standard by which nicuids (RY4 particularly) can be measured for now. Your sense of taste might end up being the end-all-to-beat-all reference....or exactly the one the steer away from. Only time will tell. Thanks for sticking your neck out. :D

In all sincerity you are a true pioneer and should be congratulated....come what may.

Think Darwin, Frank Zappa...or Galileo etc.

I don't think that Janty actually makes their own liquid so they must be getting it from a manufacturer who I would think would sell to other suppliers. If we could just figure out who that might be, we may find a better price.

I don't know if the janty juices sold by the US store are the same sold by the EU store, i suppose they are the same but you never know..
Anyway the bottles of janty classic juice i get here in europe have 'JOYE' engraved on the orange cap.
So i believe joyetech produce it for them...
There are not many vendors that sell joye juices for what i know and it may be possible that janty do have an exclusive formula.
I know TW Titan Fluid line is made by Joye but i've never had the chance to try their RY4 and it's possible the formula is different even if the manufacturer is the same.

Anybody can check if the US distributed janty bottles have the JOYE engraved on the caps?

Many people will say, "Ooh, yummy and pure! How wonderful!" I am not one of them. What I find myself saying is: "Damn, it's that same bug spray as in Torque 56 and Freedom! What a shame."

I experience that "aura" as pine needles (maybe pine sol....ie: disinfectant. Not a far stretch from bug spray...LOL). You are definitely not alone.

You are right!! I never noticed that before. So is Joye the maker or a larger distributer? Either way, any other supplier selling Joye eliquid should have the same product, unless as mentioned, it is a custom blend.

Below are my current rankings, revised to include the two new RY4 reviews (Halo Tribeca at #24, and GoodEJuice RY4 at #19), followed by the category groupings. I've ditched the Middle-of-the-Road category, since that is taken care of by the numerical rankings.

Outstanding work and care went into this post. For what it's worth, I copied and pasted onto Word and it came to a 3 page long document. Thanks for taking the time to do this.

As an RY4 lover, my vote goes to IKV Gold. It's the only thing I can vape all day and not get a sickly sweet feeling. Tribeca tastes very good to me but only under high voltage, at 3.7V it's spicy to me.

Thanks again
Torque

Thanks for taking the time to do this.

Torque,

It's my pleasure. Actually, the thread is getting easier for me to maintain and update, now that we've settled on a composite system, with the less-judgmental Category Groups balancing out the more gonzo subjectivity of my Numerical Rankings. All we have to do now is find a way to review the rest of the RY4s available in the vaping marketplace. I don't even have a clue as to how many there are. Maybe another 70 or so? 50? 200? I have no idea.

I've been comparison vaping the Top 5 yesterday and today, and while they're not clones (each has its own distinctive qualities, like just about every RY4 on the list), judging them as to which is "best" seems more and more difficult to me, almost arbitrary. I'm happy for now with Ikenvape at in the #1 spot, but Dulcis and Taboo are hard on its heels, and Backwoods Brew keeps jumping around wildly as it changes with steeping. At one moment I think BWB should be #1 again; at other moments it sinks to #10 in my mind.

The great thing is that we have so many terrific RY4s from which to choose. Every juice in the Top 20 is pretty darn tasty, and even those I put toward the bottom of the ranking will please some people immensely. For example, Tribeca wasn't my cup of tea, but it would be Top 5 for many people. Really, there are only two "stinkers" on the entire list.

When I was younger I spent some time in Virginia. While there, I went to Busch Gardens amusement park. To my surprise, they had a tobacco store inside the park. On a weird whim (and to be a little funny) I bought a sherlock holmes-esque pipe and a bag of vanilla pipe tobacco.

That vanilla tobacco, to this day, was the greatest smoking experience I ever had. Moist, perfectly flavored, delicious, everything. I've tried cigars, cigarillos, other loose tobacco, couldn't match the flavor.

Then I started vaping a couple months ago. Got lucky, and managed to order a bottle of BWB RY4.
Ever watch Ratatouille? When the old grinchy critic eats the ratatouille the rat made and instantly flashes back to his childhood and good memories? That's what BWB RY4 did to me, instantly reminded of that awesome busch gardens vanilla pipe tobacco, I couldn't find anywhere else.

Now if only I could get my hands on some more :p

I always wonder why he just doesn't make more since it is such a great seller for him. Then I read on ECF somewhere that it is the ingredients that Don uses in the RY4 that are hard to get. According to his website all the tobacco flavors he makes are all his own which makes sense then.

Check his homepage everyday because he will post in advance when it will go on sale. Emails only seem to tell you when it is in stock.

I remember that Tobacco store in Busch Gardens, it was over in the Ol' England section. I was smoking a pipe then and I used to buy that same Vanilla Burley. Is that what BWB RY4 tastes like? I've been trying to get some for quite a while now. Wow, nice memories, thanks MRobs!

My BWB RY4 24mg is 14 days old and I just vaped about 12 drops of it to see how its coming along. Tobacco is definitely the dominant flavor followed by caramel, I'm not getting much vanilla to it. Also seems like something spicy in it, makes your tongue tingle.

Going to check it in about a week.

Diablo,

I'm with you on the taste of BWB. It's a very forward, tobacco-dominant RY4, not sweet at all, and quite spicy rather than caramel- or vanilla-rich. (I assume you meant "definitely" rather than "defiantly," right? But then, maybe backwoods RY4 is boldly rebellious to your palate, in the same way people sometimes describe wines as insouciant. LOL.)

I think my new bottle of bwb RY4 has pretty much reached flavor maturity after six weeks, and it's improved immensely since I first got it. I don't mind that some juices require steeping time, but it does sort of throw a monkey wrench into reviewing them, since they don't sit still long enough to draw a bead on 'em.

Besides being a unique formulation of flavors, one of BWB RY4's other main claims-to-fame is, well, the very fact of its fame. (It's famous because it's famous??? You know what I mean...) Relative scarcity---meaning the fact that we can't buy it very often and then only rationed quantities---may have markedly increased its value and esteem in the marketplace, like gold and silver. Sure, Don's a master juice alchemist, and his RY4 is certainly very good, but I wonder if the buzz would be as loud and insistent if BWB RY4 were readily available all the time in any quantity one wanted. I'm not sure, but that thought has occurred to me from time to time.

Being day 10, I was fixing to give BWB a first try. Guess I'll wait a while.

I guess The Vapor Room has a new RY4, anybody willing?

And Billherbst, I have a couple RY4s from a contest from E-Juice USA (one VG, one PG/VG) if you want me to send you 3ml each. I think they are meh, but they are still new. Never know what a couple days in the post office will do for them.

Yeah I definitely meant definitely :)

Corrected it, thanks for the heads up.

All the BWB juices get rave reviews, and I have not found a tobacco flavor from them I don't like. I'm not sure RY4's popularity has to do with it being so hard to get, who knows, could be. :)

Diablo,

I was mostly just thinking out loud, more tongue-in-cheek than serious. I've got 21 bottles of backwoods brew in my juice stash, with 10 having been reordered multiple times, which testifies to my agreement that Don's reputation is justly deserved. I didn't like Smoke at first (tasted ashy to me), and I haven't yet come around to completely embracing Hazelnut Tobacco or Adirondack, but they're steeping like fine wine. My first reaction to Malty was what is this? But aging over some months allowed it to bloom for me (as well as change color dramatically). Café Mocha, Malty Toffee, Maxboro (now called Bacco), Hunter's Blend, and Casablanca are part of my daily rotation of faves.
