Very nice review, passer.

Totally Wicked states that their Patriot range is made by their "US Manufacturing partner"---whoever that is. The weird part is that they say the liquid nic is sourced from the UK, not the US. No mention of where the flavorings come from. Oh well, whatever works.

There is a great deal to be said for classic RY4. We can't have too many good ones. The more the merrier. Totally Wicked Patriot Range RY4 now has our permission to join the club of Dekang RY4, Dulcis, Taboo, Riskee Yuice, Elixir RY4, Vapor..... OuR-Y4, and probably a couple other pretenders or hangers on and go play in the Classic RY4 Treehouse.

Well the rumor is that the patriot range is a partner with Halo lol Devil and a Halo go figure  but I can not confirm that one, but I do know Tribeca taste nothing like PR RY4...

I always suspect that since day one. In my books the PR Tobacco Americano is the same as Halo Freedom Juice. And yes the PR RY4 is nothing like Tribeca :). But in the other hand to me the PR RY4 that was called originally as Ruyan 5 is the same as nHaler R Why Not. I have both pre mixed and concentrates and are identical but I can be wrong ;)

For the prices on TW there always promo codes, yo-yo sales and stuff like that that makes the price more affordable.

Btw the PR Doble Apple Shisha is a must try.

Passer, good review, and happy you found a new "classic". TW is still too expensive for me to order on a regular basis, but perhaps it will be added to my growing list of orders to place next February when I'm next in the USA.

And that list is getting LOOOOOONG.

Well, kids I am vaping one of Bill's own RY4 blends. And I am surprised at how good it is. It's labeled TFA RY4 Double. And delish it is. At first, for the first 10 hits or so, I wasn't impressed.

First impression: Dry and crisp. Kinda boring. Not sweet, plain. Tobacco heavy. No vanilla taste

After that, it caramelized a bit in the Vivi Nova tank.

Second impression: Slightly sweet caramel flavor, then tobacco, with a vanilla aftertaste. I really like this stuff!!!!

Hello guys and gals, I have been out of pocket for several days and am trying to catch up on all the postings in the past couple of weeks. Wow, looks like a lot of topics (on and off RY4) and very entertaining! Somebody asked about Tribeca's required steeping - it does get better the longer it steeps but that Halo "purity" base is not as pronounced now as it was about 5 months ago. I would suggest trying it right out of the mail box and if you do not like it, wait a few days and try again. I like it right out of the box but it get's better with time.

Hangdude, I told you a few weeks back that just plain did not like Conspiracy. Well, I pulled out my old carto this morning and took a few "tokes" as Bill likes to call it and it was darn good. Maybe the steeping helped, maybe my palate is evolving some more (probably both). Also, I now like Mom & Pop's RY4 (both of them that I have) and did not at first.

Scarf, I tried some of Halo's Bella Valente this morning too, and you were right about the TH. I like the cuban cigar / vanilla flavor and it does put out some aroma in the room too. It is very good but I took too many tokes in rapid succession and it made my head swim (LOL).

Good to be back, now who is going to come up with the next best RY4 or otherwise to get my palate more confused?

A technical clarification: Yes, I diy'd the juices Sandy mentioned, but they're not really "mine." I sent Sandy a sampler pack of DIY RY4s made from what I consider the Top Five pre-mixed RY4 flavoring concentrates:

Perfumer's Apprentice RY4 Double
Perfumer's Apprentice RY4 Asian
Tobacco Express RY4
Tobacco Express Ruyan 4
Decadent Vapours DV4.

I didn't mess with the recipes or add any other flavorings. I made all five straight from the concentrates, using 15% flavoring for the TPA and DV, and 5% flavoring for the TE (they're super-concentrated), at Sandy's preferred 6mg nic strength in a 50/50 PG/VG base blend.

If anyone else would like an identical sample pack of five 5ml bottles, I'm sending them out sort of privately to only regular contributors/readers of The Big RY4 Roundup thread. No up-front charge and I'll pay the postage (U.S. only, please), but donations are encouraged and accepted (which will be used to buy more RY4s for reviews). If you want a DIY RY4 Sample Pack, PM me with your name, mailing address, and preferred base blend/nic level.

I can't do a million of these, but I can certainly whip up at least a couple more, so first-come, first-served.

Maybe vendors can send out samples of RY4s in progress to other members of this thread. You know, for (ahem) "evaluation".

I am actually vaping one of my "Boardwalk Empire" DIY Frankenjuice blends that I chucked in a drawer a few months ago:
15ml unflavoured PG nic juice
5ml I mix RY4 concentrate
Three drops each TPA Jamaican Rum and English Toffee
Fill to top of 30ml bottle with VG

Shake, vape, be disappointed, chuck in dark place and allow to blend for a while. When you pull it out it will be gloriously dark and inviting and taste nicely RY4ish with an extra roundness from the rum and a little sweetness from the toffee. I called it "Commodore" in honor of Dabney Coleman's character.

Target, glad you liked the Bella Valente. Hope you let it steep well!

Unexpectedly large electric bill prevented me from placing any E-liquid orders for the past two weeks. HHV order expected any day now.

That's great, Bill!

Do you plan on evaluating those in the thread? (maybe you have done some or all already?)

Yeah, Cool, I've already reviewed the TPA and Tobacco Express pre-mixed RY4 diy flavorings. The posts are buried in the thread somewhere over the past year. All five of these are pretty good. The Tobacco Express super-concentrates are especially great if you want to vape a whole lot of RY4 for very little money.

Ugh!!!! Ok so I have been searching and searching... I want to DIY some RY4, I would prefer to use one flavoring alone, I want to make a RY4 that is sweet on the inhale with vanilla on the exhale and a mild Tobbacco in the middle with NO floral notes. I think I have it narrowed down to Either TFA RY4 Double or TFA RY4 Asian. Which one is the one I'm looking for?

thad,

Of the thirteen pre-mixed RY4 flavoring concentrates I've tried, not one of them is particularly vanilla-rich. TFA RY4 Double is a custom RY4 that's heavier on the caramel. If you've got some vanilla flavoring or vanilla retail juice in your stash, adding a little might bring it closer to your preferred flavor profile.

I'm frankly shocked at how good the first one I tried is. Off the shelf, plain one-flavor flavoring beats the heck out of many of the RY4s I have tried.

Sandy,

Amazing, isn't it? When I first began buying pre-mixed RY4 flavoring concentrates in late October 2010 and for a long time after, they were awful. Just dreadful. Floral and perfumey, unbalanced, with either no discernible tobacco flavor or lousy-tasting tobacco. Over the past year, but especially in the last six months, that has changed dramatically.

Linda has steadily improved her recipes for RY4 concentrates from The Perfumer's/Flavorist Apprentice. Her RY4 Double is a good custom RY4, and RY4 Asian is a nice classic version. Typically, I mix them at 10-20%.

The same is true of the Tobacco Express line of Chinese super-concentrated flavorings available from EcigExpress. Ruyan 4 is a custom mix---a rich caramel tobacco blend with a hint of vanilla---while RY4 is a sweeter, more balanced classic recipe.

DIY flavorings are cost-effective solutions for thrifty RY4 vapers, Tobacco Express super-concentrates especially. Considering that only 2-5% of this flavoring is needed, $3.99 for a 10ml bottle of super-concentrate is one heck of a bargain. At a mixing strength of 4% (which will produce amply flavorful juice), a single bottle will make a staggering 250ml of finished DIY eliquid.

For example, cost of Tobacco Express flavoring to make a 30ml bottle of juice at 4% strength is a mere 48¢. TFA/TPA flavorings are less concentrated, but cost for a 30ml bottle of DIY juice using even the high end of 20% TFA flavoring will be only $1.20. 10% cuts that in half.
