passer,

With all the great Classic RY4s available, there's no reason you should ever have to vape a Custom RY4, much less ask yourself why you don't like them. That's part of the beauty of having so many RY4s in the marketplace. Odds are really quite high of finding at least one RY4---and often many more than just one---that most palates will cuddle up to and enjoy.

When I read posts on other threads from people who write that they don't like RY4, I always wonder if they've tried any of the top-rated RY4s from The Big List. While I'm sure that some RY4 non-fans have tried at least one great RY4 and still didn't like it, I'd bet that others haven't had anything but some of the lesser lights on the list.

I have been vaping some of the orginal RY4 - Janty DK Series - this afternoon in a different clearomizer than what I originally used about a month or so ago. At that time I replied to the thread that "I just do not get it", meaning I really did not like it. Most of the time I prefer a custom RY4 and lately, the NET RY4's have been my preference.

Well, I think I am now "getting it" with this classic Janty DK. Maybe the first clearo was bad, maybe a few extra weeks of steeping helped (probably both). This stuff is pretty good! Has a nice smoky tobacco hit (albeit synthetic) and I really like the sweet/sour characteristic of this juice. Not too sweet and sour enough to please my palate. (dessert RY4's are not my thing)

Usually the "Chinesey" juices turn me off but I am starting to come around. Passer - you really should give Tribeca another try - the "sage" is absent since Halo changed whatever they did to their base. Tribeca is not as Chinesey as Janty but pretty close for an American juice.

So today I've learned the downside to reading Bill's reviews. I just got a bottle of Our-4 in from HighCaliber with my new Protank MyVaporStore, and am trying them both out as we speak. I thought it tasted pretty decent as an RY4, with a bit of something I was thinking of as a "spicy sweetness" to the caramel if that makes any sense.

Then I read Bill's review, heard him describe it as "pineapple" and now I'm just barely perceiving that in the juice.

Even so, I would rate it significantly higher than a D+. Probably in the B- to B range, with MisterELiquid at an A- and Zeus' Creamy RY4 down at about a C and Vaporgod at a C-. V4L RY4 (not Jammin, the normal stuff) is probably about a C+.

Maybe I have more of a tolerance to "pineapple" than "nut" and Bill is the reverse, who knows? Also possible that they've reduced the fruitiness in the formulation?

Further supporting the possibility that they've changed the formula is that my Our 4 is a dark, coffee-like brown color, and not the golden brown that Bill observed in his sample.

Who knows.

midfi,

It's also possible that I'm just full of it, although the color difference sounds suspiciously like a revised formula.

Glad you're enjoying yourself. Besides being safer than smoking, vaping is all about pleasure.

Got the Indigo Classic in today, and i must say I'm disappointed. It isn't like a classic RY4 to me at all. Instead of Caramel, Vanilla, Tobacco, it is more like honey, vanilla, tobacco. The problem is, I hate honey. The honey flavor is very pronounced in this vape and im not getting caramel at all. I don't see this issue going away with steeping.

Sero,

Yeah, every juice we buy is a spin of the roulette wheel, a roll of the dice. "Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes you get rained out." (Satchel Paige)

Doesn't matter if nine kajillion other vapers think a certain juice is the greatest thing since sliced bread. For any individual vaper, maybe it will be, maybe it won't.

Back to the old drawing board.

Here's the description of Indigo Classic from the IndigoVapor product page:

"Our famous Indigo RY rebalanced and pared down to the essential classic RY components. Tobacco, Caramel, and Vanilla."

No mention of honey. Which is not to challenge Sero's experience. If he tastes honey rather than caramel, that's all that matters to him. I'm just saying that I trust John, the owner of IndigoVapor and the creator of all their juices. If he says that Indigo Classic has contains only the three classic RY4 ingredients (Tobacco, Caramel, and Vanilla), I believe him. Plus, I personally don't taste any honey in Indigo Classic.

I did taste honey in Ahlusion Gold Rising, but so did many other people. That was a bone of contention, and part of the reason we eventually excluded Gold Rising from The Big RY4 List. Not that Gold Rising isn't a good juice. I happen to think that it's an extraordinary NET tobacco blend. It just didn't quite pass muster as an RY4, according to our criteria here on the thread.

My guess is that the "rebalancing" of Indigo Classic, plus the particular caramel and vanilla used and they way they interact, that are causing Sero's palate/brain to interpret the presence of honey. In all honesty, however, I do feel that Indigo Classic is not actually a typical "Classic" RY4. For me, it has Classic elements but leans more toward Custom in the final reckoning. So, it straddles the two types---Classic/Custom---like crossover country songs that has country lyrics and singing but are built around rock riffs, chord progressions, and overall musical style.

The main difference between my take on Indigo Classic and Sero's is that it makes my Top Ten with a bullet, whereas it won't even make Sero's Top Forty. LOL.

I've a Vaperite VR4 (Organic Flavored Juices : Organic Flavored VR4 Tobacco), winner of Vapenstein's 2010 Best of RY4 category - 60 ml, 18 mg nic - it's full to the top, just got the bottle, but do not like the flavor of this type of ejuice. Anyone want to take it off my hands by purchasing (your best offer) or trading it?

Not sure if serious but anyway i think its time for people to separate bussines from friendship; US folks dont get offended but thats why China can take over any market ! supply never stops.

Btw i have a rant too :D seriously getting tired of the "mix by order" excuse for long shipping times, shops allready know what and how much they sell ;)
