Anyone have a suggested wattage for the Dekang madvapes RY4 on a single coil Boge? Voltage at 3.2ohms would work too. I can't seem to get it dialed in very well, although it seems to burn extremely quickly once I get above 6W, which is just a bit colder than I tend to like to vape.

midficollege,

7-9 watts is the sweet spot for many vapers. For a 2.0 ohm LR Boge, that would mean 3.7-4.3 volts. For a 3.2 ohm SR Boge, it'd be 4.7-5.3 volts. Those are, of course, merely crude guidelines, but easily adjustable higher or lower to suit your pleasure.

Yeah, going above 6 volts with SR Boges is asking for a burn. That's 10 watts, and while fine for dual coils, especially the 2- or 2.5-ohm DCs, that level of power pushes the limit for a 3-ohm single coil.

I am just a poser I guess I have only tried 10

Ian,

Nah, you're not a poser. You're a vaper amassing diverse experience with a well-loved juice flavor. You'd be a poser only if you presented yourself as an authority and walked around huffing and puffing about your knowledge.

I do the best I can not to be a poser, but "true" authority is rare and special, and requires considerably more than simple expertise or broad experience in a given arena. Maturity, for one thing. Social skills, for another. Lots of people who are expert at something are nonetheless posers to me, because they use their expertise like a bludgeon, lording it over others and power tripping people. Real authorities aren't egomaniacs or narcissists. They maintain a core of humility and a strong sense of responsibility.

But then, you probably know all that already. LOL.

Well someday I will post my list, but half I've forgot because I never wanted to order them again.....lol in vaping terms id say poser-king about 80/20 lol

Yeah, LOL indeed! We have enough poser-kings on this thread (although many of them are quite shy about it) that we could form our own club: RY4 Poser-Kings! The only part I'm not sure of is whether the club should be a 12-step group or a comedy troupe. Maybe both.

Thanks for the info- turns out it wasn't a problem with the power I was running through it, but rather the fact that the condom method didn't soak the coil as well as could be hoped for whatever reason on these Boges, but it worked fine on SmokTech 2.5ohm dual coils.

I actually meant 6 watts, not 6 volts, with anything over 4.5V tasting awful, but once I topped off the filler from the top of the carto it started tasting like RY4 all the way up to 6V on das laventuben.

Odd.

I have a quick question that maybe someone in this thread can help with. I've been looking for an RY4 subsitute and am having a hard time because I think I don't like the base most of the suppliers use. I've tried HighBrow Vaper, BlueMistVaping and AVE's Boba's Bounty and 555, but again I think it's the base that I can't get used to. I'm not into that whole 'flu-cured' taste. What I vape now is Tribeca; and am looking for something flavourful.

I've read some reviews on Spring Vapor. Do they have a strong base like AVE or BlueMistVaping?

Ian 10mls a day wow u must just squirt on a blowdryer coils and inhale lol j/k

LOL. Yeah I see people on here saying this all the time. More than 10ml even. My question is how in the world do they manage it? I mean doesn't everyone at some point during the day require use of both hands simultaneously? I guess if you used automatic batteries and had some sort of contraption strapped to your head to hold the PV in place? Okay, I give up.

Reminds me of when I used to hear smokers say "I [used to] smoke 6 packs a day". What? How in the world? Of course that was back when cigs were like 25 or 50 cents/pack. You don't hear it too often these days.

Dekang RY4 is not bad, KickBass RY4 .. diffidently read the reviews from Bill, I found he is spot on ....or just start picking ones out of the list, take out a loan, sell your house, divorce your wife, join the club and be broke with us :D

The first RY4 I experienced was from Awesome Vapor, and I assumed that was the standard chinese RY4. For me it still tastes good but seems to 'burn' in a cart fast because its so thin.

spivey,

As far as I know, Awesome Vapor RY4 is indeed Dekang. The sample bottle I got back in the very early days of my vaping was during the period Dekang was frequently changing its formula. I didn't love it all that much back then, but Dekang has significantly improved their RY4 recipe since then, so it might be quite good now.

Since it's the tobacco bases that are giving you trouble, offering an alternate recommendation is difficult. There's just no way for us to know if you would or wouldn't like any particular RY4 tobacco base. I'd hazard a guess (and it is just a guess) that a Classic (meaning Chinese) RY4 flavor profile might be more likely to please you than a Custom (meaning American) RY4, since the tobacco bases in Classic RY4s tend to be more middle-of-the-road or neutral.

I will suggest one for your consideration, although it may be a shot in the dark: CrystalELiquid RY4. It's an American-made RY4 with a Classic flavor profile, which is rare. And it's darn good, as far as I'm concerned. I reviewed it in post #1015.

Thanks for the info. I think what I was trying to say (w/ regards to the bases) is some of them just taste to perfumy to me. I went ahead and made an order w/ Spring Vapor just because I won't know until I try, but I'll definitely check out Crystal Eliquid. I use to only use 36mg nic so my choices were limited or else I probably would have already.

Bill, have you tried Vapor..... Our-Y4 yet? I know they are a new vendor and couldn't find any info online

Nope. Haven't heard of the vendor until your post. Item description of OuR-Y4 on the web site states: "It’s RY4…but it’s our RY4. A new twist on a classic flavor." Well, at least we can be relatively sure that it's a Custom RY4 (twist on Classic = Custom).

Another vendor with juice names that are complete ciphers.

My first exposure to ry4 was the day I started vaping almost 6 months ago. I had quit the analogs as a 3 pack a day kinda guy 18 years ago. But I gave up the little stinks for the big stinks and the pipe. One of my favorites was a blend I would do with caramel, vanilla, cognac baccos. Little did I know all those year ago I had created analog RY4!!!!

My first vape was the classic Dekang ry4. I was hooked from the first toot. I could not keep my then 510 tank full of the stuff. It was rich carmaley, some vanilla and to me a seeminly cognac finish. Shortly there after I found ECF and started reading this and many other ry4 reviews.

My second RY4 style was Halo Tribecca. Tribeca has definitive tobacco undertones with a semi-sweet top note that is reminiscent of RY4 and other treasured tobacco blends. Not at all like the classic dekang that was my only reference at the time. Some of the same undertones but to me a more buttery finish. It seemed to also have a slightly chemical taste. I put it away and went back to my dekang for 2 weeks. I ran out and my store was out so I got back out the tribecca. Little did I know at the time but I had just steeped it... Chemical taste was gone and I now kinda liked the buttery finish. I have vapid about 90mls of the tribecca.

My third Ry4 style juice turned out to not be a RY4 at all. Col caramel from V4L was recommended to me buy a friend as the best ry4 he had ever tried. I got the bottle loaded into my then ego t and took a toot!! First thought was I was going to hurt my friend for calling it ry4. It was bacco and heavy dark caramel nothing more. Not that I did not like it. I did. But... It was not even a ry4 style

Then it was joys ry4, then Totally Wicked ry4, then V4L Ry4... No need to comment on those...

Then I ordered Backwoods brew RY4... Instant love. No need to review I just loved it. Last 3 months it was the only one I vaped. Well until Don cancelled it...

At Vapebash I tried what was then called VR4 from Vermilion River. I really like it. Not as much as the BWB but I liked it enough to talk him into selling me a bottle at the show. I have since ordered 2 more bottles of the now KY4.
