The 3ml bottle of
Heavenly Tobacco I purchased was part of a four-bottle E-Liquid Sampler Pack from
Heathers Heavenly Vapes. I dont know whether this bottle was custom-made-to-order or batch prepared prior to sale. I would think prior batch-preparation more likely, given what a pain it would be to have to mix up four 3ml bottles every time someone ordered a Sampler. Just to be on the safe side, I let it open-bottle steep for four days anyway.
The liquid itself is a light-golden color transparency at 12mg nic strength in a 70/30 PG/VG blend. I added four drops of 100mg nic liquid to the 3ml bottle to up the nic strength to 18mg. I figured that four drops wouldnt dilute the flavor much (tasting both before and after adding the extra nic, I noticed no flavor loss, although the impact of the juice was substantially more punchy at 18mg). Testing was done using a 2.7 ohm Ultimate CE2 clearomizer run at 4.5 volts on a Vector VV, for a power output of 7.5 watts.
Wow. This is the fourth or fifth custom RY4 Ive had in a row that qualifies as a candidate for all-day-vape status. That means that the juices overall flavor is subtle and mild rather than intense and bold. In-your-face flavor lovers can stop reading now. Heavenly Tobacco doesnt shout, it whispers. Or maybe
purrs would be a better verb. In addition, this RY4 is more like a purée or smoothee than a chunky stew---no particular flavor ingredient stands out. In fact, I cant taste any individual flavors at all, just an overall RY4-ness.
In this regard, Heavenly Tobacco is in the same ball park as Mr.Vape RY4. I use that particular comparison because MrVape RY4 has steadily risen in my personal Top 10 List of favorite RY4s. So, just mentioning MrVape RY4 implies by association some fairly serious praise for Heavenly Tobacco.
The description on the web site states:
more rich and complex than any RY4 on the market. Well, the particular juice in my sample bottle doesnt strike me as especially rich or complex, but thats not to suggest that I consider it lean or simple. HT is mysterious enough that I couldnt begin to tell you what flavors are used. Happily, I dont pick up any off-color elements, at least none that I can discern. Perhaps its layered like lasagna and complex as all get-out, but I get a single flavor experience from Heavenly Tobacco. And far from being a bad thing, I regard that unity of flavor melding as a triumph of quality juice-making.
The description also includes
"notes of nuts," but I didn't taste much that was nut-like (nothing even close to the nuttiness of IKV Gold, by contrast). I tasted sweetness for sure, but
not dessert sweet, for the flavor profile also has a sour component that counterbalances the sweetness. Im a fan of the sweet-sour polarity in RY4s, and I wish more of them had it. Heavenly Tobacco is only the sixth RY4 thats sweet-and-sour out of the 80-or-so retail RY4s Ive tried.
One unusual facet of the vaping experience that made a distinct impression on me was that some quality of the juice lingered on my tongue after exhale and took about 20-30 seconds to dissipate afterwards. I wouldnt call what remained a flavor or taste exactly, and Im uncertain whether I liked it or not. I dont remember having a similar experience with any other RY4, and I have no idea what it means. Lowering the voltage didnt lessen or remove the sensation of something lingering. Worth noting, however, if for no other reason than rarity.
Is this a good custom RY4? Of course.
Do I like it? Well, let me put it this way: I like AltCig Krave Kutter more than AltCig RY4, I love MrVape Special Blend more than MrVape RY4, Ill take VR Kentucky Vanilla over KY4, and I prefer Heather's Gandalf to Heavenly Tobacco. See, the problem
isnt those RY4s---all of which are terrific. Its
me, not the juices. So, if you like subtle RY4s, please dont let the lean of my palate deter you from trying this one.
My personal Grade for Heavenly Tobacco: a solid
B+
