The two 10ml bottles of RY4 I purchased from BestEcig (a Chinese vendor)---one in all-PG, the other in mostly-VG, and both at 24mg nic strength---contained liquids of identical color: a very pale gold transparency. Nose of each juice was very slight but pleasing. Testing was done by dripping into a 2.5 ohm Standard joyetech 510 atomizer powered by a VAMO set to 7 watts RMS.
BestEcig is one of numerous Chinese online ecig/juice vendors that are not particularly well-known on ECF. HealthCabin, EastMall, GreenhouseOne, and HeavensGifts are better known around here. I wanted to see how an off-brand Chinese RY4 might compare, so I ordered two 10ml bottles for testing.
Before purchasing, I emailed BestEcig to ask whether their liquids were out-sourced from a large wholesale juice manufacturer or made in-house. I saw no point in purchasing more re-labeled Dekang, Joye, or Hangsen RY4, since I already have more than enough of all those.) BestEcig replied promply, assuring me that all their liquids were custom formulated in-house by their own juice mixologists. OK.
The price wasnt particularly inexpensive at $2.65 for each 10ml bottle plus $5 overall shipping (the really slow kind, which took a month to get to Oregon). Bought in larger quantities (up to 500ml bottles), however, cost per ml can be brought down into the mid-20¢/ml range, unless one opts for the faster and much more expensive EMS shipping.
First thing I noticed upon opening the package were the odd bottles, which werent labeled, by the way, except for a generic BestEcig sticker indicating that they contained eliquid. Figuring out which bottle was which RY4---the all-PG or mostly-VG---was easy, though, because of the thicker viscosity of the VG. The bottles were opaque plastic with pop-off caps that revealed the same kind of tips one gets with a tube of superglue, where you have to snip off the ends with scissors. Seemed a bit unusual for eliquid, but I guess BestEcig got a great deal on a zillion of those empty 10ml glue bottles. I transferred the liquids to standard 10ml ecig dropper-top bottles and labeled each one.
Price and weird bottles aside, how good is the RY4? Well, first off, BestEcigs RY4 is Classic Chinese RY4 all the way. Since Classic RY4s---especially those created by the Chinese, which is most of them---share a tighter flavor profile and less variation from one maker to another than Custom RY4s, I found BestEcig RY4 to be a bonafide member-in-good-standing of the Classic Chinese RY4 Club. If we can call any Classic RY4 unique, probably only Janty RY4s qualify for that label, but then Janty RY4s are only half-Chinese. All the rest are remarkably consistent (which is to say, similar): Dekang, Hangsen, Joye, Keemer, and the house brands from HealthCabin and GreenhouseOne. To that list we can now add BestEcig RY4.
The highest-rated Classics on The RY4 Report Card are Janty RY4s, Bloog or SmokelessImage Volt RY4s, Halo Tribeca, VaporsKnoll OuR-Y4 (formerly Vapor.....), and VaporTalk Dulcis---all of which get an A grade from me. The lowest-rated Classic is GreenhouseOne RY4, which Ive judged as a B-. Not too shabby, actually. BestEcig RY4 belongs right in the middle. Ill give it a very comfortable B.
If you like Classic RY4s, you will like BestEcig RY4. Its right down the middle of the Classic profile. Lean but tasty, not overly sweet or rich, but quite satisfying, and a very nice vape. No nuts, no sourness, no off-tastes, no weird flavorings. Just straight-ahead Classic RY4. Whats not to like about that?
