Jerms,

LOL.

I've been asked on numerous occasions to start a Really Big 555 Roundup thread. I always decline. I'm not starting a thread for a juice I don't like. I've never met a standard 555 that I could vape for more than about 30 seconds. Two unusual 555s do pass muster for me as interesting and enjoyable vapes---BWB 555 Exotic and SpringVapor Black Label 555---but they're not even close to what a typical Dekang-like State Express 555 knock-off tastes like.

Haha, yes, actually being into the juice type would be key to making a thread like this. I'm sure 555 has a fairly interesting back story, and enough complexity and variation to deserve it's own categories and all that, and has been a fairly popular juice for some time. But I don't think diving into it with the same passion as this thread does with RY4 would have the same legs. Though one thing that 555 has is that it's based on a real life counterpart.

I think most vapers kind of look at RY4 as basically a tobacco, vanilla, and caramel blend and 555 as basically a tobacco and nut blend. That of course is a huge simplification of a complex subject, but it's also kind of true. Even before vaping, the RY4 blend sounds tastier to me than the 555, and as a vaper even more-so, which I think is a fairly common thing. Couldn't say if that's as true in the East as here in the West, but I would wager on it.

I also really liked BWB's 555Exotic, actually one of the only ones I cared for from them. I bet it would get a A rating in a fictional Big 555 RU, sitting squarly in the Custom category and possibly atypical. It's on my list to order again sometime in the future. The only other 555 I currently have plans of someday trying is from MOV, as I've been enjoying their arti-baccos.

Any NET promoted as a 555? None that I'm aware of, though Puros from HouseofLiquid is a very nutty NET. Others have commented their Cigarillos is 555-ish. QnJ has a new nutty NET coming out soon called Nucking Futs, though I doubt three 5s will be seen in the description.

The BWB and Spring Vapor were two I enjoyed, the 555 that got me initially hooked was Smokeless Image, 555 was my primary work vape before venturing into NET Juices.

When I ordered a SI kit to be sent to my mom to try vaping, I added the tobacco carto pack. Her favorite was the 555. I'll add that to my list of juices to try, out of curiosity, as I still need to try their RY4. I may have to look into the Spring Vapor one too. Maybe not, my 555 interest is already waning while typing this lol.

I found the SI RY4 too sweet for my taste, the third SI juice I liked was Desert Joe, coming off camels it had an Oriental/Spice/Dryness I liked.

:offtopic: I have the MOV 555 steeping right now, though with the Silver label it's artibacco.

Sorry we derailed your Thread bill.

I loved the 555 from smokeless image, it's the one juice that i'd buy from them again. Know any other juices that are similar?
Also a huge ry4 fan

You might like Vape Rite Naturally Flavored Rou's Natural Toasted Hazelnut Tobacco, not exactly a 555, but a Natural Tobacco and Hazelnut, really done well.

Mr. Mann equated Ahlusion Peach River Tree blend as a 555-type flavor with peach. That's the only River Tree Blend I've had, so I don't know if the nutty tobacco holds true for the rest of the line, but I imagine it does.

You'll have to keep me updated on what you think of the MOV 555 when you start on it.

I wouldn't worry about being off topic, 555 wishes it was interesting enough to derail this thread more than a couple pages lol.

That's right! Forgot all about that during this chatter about 555s. I believe I have a sample of that coming in the Mann-package being sent to me. Wait a minute.. Mann-package??? Uh oh.

... As I said earlier, I thought the Smokeless Image RY4 was too sweet, didn't care for it, another I found sugary sweet was Altcig RY4. I vaped the Dekang version last week, to me it was well-balanced with a touch too much sweet, but I could handle it for 5-7 minutes. Normally I prefer something with a bit more artibacco & Vanilla instead of Carmel.

Not being an RY4 Vaper, though I've tried ~12 different Vendors, my first RY4 re-order was from Revolution Vapor. As I recall it was a pleasant vape, they also have a Nutty juice with Carmel & Vanilla named Broadway, why I really re-ordered was to get some Red Rum. This was one addicting non-tobacco type I couldn't put down... and it's sweet, but it works.

the V4L WOW triple nickle is almost identical to the SI 555. the only difference i could taste was maybe the V4L juice was just slightly sweeter.ever so slightly. so, if you are into the SI 555, give the WOW stuff a try. dont get the premium version though. it has more of a less nutty/toasted,ashtray type taste to it.

New vendors continue to enter the market. Many are offering 'premium' ejuices at, dare I say, premium pricing...

It's been a while since I've visited commercial ejuices. I wonder if there are significant changes in the overall product sensation to justify the prices that some might command.

I have noticed this too.. A couple of these boutique/high end brands have RY4s. I'd really like to try some G2 Vapor caRnY4 and Helios Meteor RY4 to see if there is any justification for their high price. I'm on a vapemail spending freeze though. Tribeca is also expensive, but it is actually worth it.

I have some Helios and have dripped a tiny bit. So far it seems like a pretty standard Western-style RY4 -- emphasis on the sweets. I'm actually going to send some off to Bill.

specs: The 10ml bottle of RY4 I purchased from PandaEcigs contains a gold-colored transparent liquid at 24mg nic strength in an 80/20 PG/VG base. Nose of the juice is very slight but pleasant. Testing was done by dripping into a 2.2 ohm 510 atty powered by a VAMO set to 7.5 watts RMS.

I must be crazy. Why would I buy a retail RY4 from a vendor that is closing out its juice line? If it’s fantastic, people won’t be able to get it. If it’s terrible, I wasted my money, and the juice will vanish anyway. I guess I did it because of PandaEcig’s 50% off liquidation sale (by using coupon code LIQUIDSALE).

PandaEcig is phasing out their juice line in favor of going with hardware only. Their juices are (uh, were) formulated and supplied by Panda's parent company, ApolloEcigs, but they’re not merely re-labeled Apollo juices. Here’s the description of Panda RY4 from the product page:

“An incredibly unique flavor that is incomparable and a customer favorite. A tobacco base flavor infused with hints of caramel, butterscotch and walnuts. It is like a dessert tobacco that doesn't overpower the palate. It yields a warm and smooth taste that is sweet but not at all sugary. A must try E-liquid for an exceptional flavor in your vaping experience.”
Butterscotch? Walnuts? OK, so this is a custom RY4, unlike Apollo RY4, which is a classic. I guess the flavorists at Apollo wanted to try their hand at a different style of RY4. It’s definitely a sweeter dessert-style juice. The walnuts help tone down the sweetness a little, but its still quite sweet. The description asserts that it's not sugary, but it does leave a bit of stickiness on my lips, which tends to be characteristic of juices with added sweeteners. Sometimes I don't like that. Here it's OK. I can’t make out the caramel, but the relatively neutral synthetic tobacco comes through nicely, along with the butterscotch and walnut. The overall blend works nicely, assuming, of course, that you like those somewhat unusual flavors (unusual for an RY4, I mean).

If you lean toward the leaner, non-sweet RY4s---such as Dekang RY4 (the version they sold in 2012; I haven’t tried the new DK-4 version Dekang is selling now), or prefer classic RY4s in general, then you probably won’t like Panda RY4. If, on the other hand, you like sweet custom RY4s, this one is worth adding to your collection, but you’ll have to act quickly to get some before it’s gone forever.

Since PandaEcigs RY4 won’t be available much longer, I’m not going to put it on The Big RY4 Lists, but I will note that it once existed in the Discontinued section.

Spring Vapor's "Black Label" and "Day & Night" versions of their liquids are really good. Have you had their Day/Nigh RY4? Their B&M is only 45 minutes from me. I should check them out.

I have some Helios Meteor, too. It's Western Style, but still really different than most RY4s. I've been sick to death of RY4; I vaped them exclusively for years. So it took some serious thinking to order this. I was ordering Copperhead's Double Barrel (Double Barrel | Elevated Vaping), so figured why not.

For those that like 5 Pawns Grandmaster, Double Barrel is better, imo.

I haven't found any dependable correlation at the high end of the retail juice marketplace between price and quality. Occasionally yes, but more often no. Strikes me as pretty much random.

The Standard CB4, Helios Meteor, Copperhead Double Barrel and 5P Gambit are the best high end I can think of. And 5P is just out of the question for some, which I understand.

Rpad -- I'm ordering some GJ4 based upon your review. I'm very curious about trying out a NET based RY4 and one that has a solid Tobacco note that stands out. Thanks for the recommendation. :toast:

Bill -- I have a question on your experience with the Hangsen Essence RY4. My first experiment with it bombed out due to some bad Nic I received (along 400ml of other juices I made from it). Lost money on the juices and other ingredients, as well as having to dump contaminated atomizers). On top of the $$ loss, I also lost 2-3 weeks of steep time. I finally got ahold of some better Nic and mixed up some Hangsen Essence RY4. I have some high hopes for that to be my low cost juice I can vape all the time. I have about a 10 day steep on this now, the flavor has been changing over the last couple of days, but I'm finding it a bit sour/vinergar-y, and somewhat milky at the same time. Tobacco is faint. I mix it at 5%, 60%VG. My question is, what mix % do you use and what do you suggest for a good steeping time for this? Any suggestion is greatly appreciated... thank you!

Lastly, I finally came across a NET Flavoring that I'll be experimenting with and using it to attempt to make my own custom RY4 (Caramel Vanilla), link HERE. The "Big Spirit" extract, in particular, as it is intended to target an analog essence, but perhaps there may be some interesting flavors to put together when combined with some of their Pipe/Cigar extracts.
