Hi all, any input on Renegade by NiteLite? I know it's not a "traditional" RY4 however a friend told me their juices are good quality but he hasn't smoked this one. TIY

Your question about 'renegade' floored me as I came to this thread to see if renegade was ever mentioned. Bounty Hunter & Renegade are my favorites with renegade having a bit more kick. I find myself adding BH to just about all my tanks as there's just something about the flavor & sweetness that I crave. By all means, I believe Ren is worth your trying. BTW - Nitelite can now be had at www.PVLiquids.com ..it's a subsidiary of NiteLite & they offer free shipping.

I am currently vaping myfreedomsmokes RY4, and it's decent. I think it's pretty balanced with a smoky but smooth taste. I can taste all three components of tobacco, caramel and vanilla with the tobacco coming through most prominently, but I'm still getting all three elements. It's decent and I'll definitely finish up my 15ml bottle, but it's nothing special IMO. Didn't see it on the report card so I thought I'd weigh in.

Pink Spot has a juice called Swagger. I'm pretty sure that's not a news flash but I find it to be really good. My question is if you've tried this would you consider this to be a RY4 hybrid? I'm still trying to come up with a description of this juice and identify the flavors I'm getting.

I have a small bottle of PinkSpot Swagger, sent to me by a friend, and no, I don't consider it to be a Custom RY4.

I've never had MyFreedomSmokes RY4 and don't recall anyone else ever mentioning it on the thread before (I could do a thread search, but I don't feel like spending my energy working at research today). I'll add MFS RY4 to The Big RY4 List and link to your short-but-not-too-sweet review ("decent, but nothing special...").

I spent a little time today---well, actually two hours---vaping every one of the 100 different carto-loaded RY4s that sit on my desk in their ammo holders like a little mini-forest. Gave each one from 30 seconds to a couple minutes of vape time in what amounted to a Grand Comparison Parade. Along the way, I shuffled some grades and category groups of numerous RY4s for the next Big List update in November.

I want to give a shout-out for a couple of really tasty RY4s that aren't well-known and are probably not on most people's radar. If you're looking to add to your RY4 stash/collection/inventory, these two Custom RY4s are definitely worth purchasing and vaping:

HitLiquid RY4 VG - my initial review: post #3031

TopShelfVapes RY4 - my initial review: post #672

Both are currently in the B+ graded group on The Big RY4 Report Card.

I had the cap off of my 60ml bottle of Hangsen RY4 and Mad 4 for the past two days in my basement to let them breathe a bit. Walked down there tonight to cap, shake, and start steeping and the whole lower level smelled like tobacco, caramel and vanilla. It was wonderful!

I always enjoyed smoking cigarettes, sans the terrible cons like the smell on my cloths on a cold day, my breath, and the general inconvenience of it all. Since discovering RY4 and then learning so much in this thread about what to buy, consider, and appreciate...I have come to the conclusion that I enjoy vaping more than smoking. I mean a really good RY4 is satisfying to me, like a good steak or cup of fine espresso. I'm actually quite surprised I am where I am right now with vaping. :thumb:

Can anyone say if the Dekang RY4 carried by GeJ is the same as Janty or any of the other RY4s that are on the Big RY4 list?

papa,

Dekang RY4 is definitely not the same as any of the various Janty RY4s, from the original, first-ever RY4 marketed by Janty in 2007 through the various Series revisions (Classic, Elixir, Vataya, DK series). Dekang RY4 is its own creature, although it too has been through numerous revisions over the years. The current version of Dekang RY4 has been renamed by Dekang as "DK4," although it may still be available from numerous vendors under the name Dekang RY4.

I don't know what GeJ's relationship is to Dekang. I presume that GeJ---like ValueVapor---sells "authentic" Dekang (meaning made, bottled, and labeled by Dekang in China), but I can't confirm that with certainty. Ask Nick at GeJ. I'm sure he'll tell you.

Bounty Hunter and Gold are the two juices that earned NLV its "time in the sun" back in 2011, when it was one of the hottest juice vendors around, accompanied by the whole nine yards of fan frenzy, Gene's canonization into sainthood (by some), the inevitable supply problems and inability to keep BH and Gold in stock, then the credit card meltdown and whatever other melodramas ensued to knock NLV off its pedestal. I take it that NLV juices are now farmed out and sold only by certain other vendors.

How interesting that you think Renegade tastes more like a 555 than an RY4. I just vaped a little of my two-year-old Renegade v2, and it's RY4-ish to my palate. Definitely Custom, but in the ballpark. Then I got out my now-ancient bottles of Dekang 555 and BWB 555 and atty-dripped a bit of each. Renegade doesn't strike me as close to either of those.

It's the nuts, right? The quoted section of KC33's second post states that RY4 is a "v-Liquid [where did that term come from?] mixture of four basic flavors: a tobacco base, a meek nutty flavor, caramel, and vanilla." Oh yeah? "A meek nutty flavor???" Since when is RY4 required to have nuts? Nuts are optional. Classic RY4s have no nut element. None. Nada. Niente. Some (and I emphasize some) Custom RY4s do, but not all---not even most. Renegade does, so that may be why you associate it with a 555.

Anyway, NLV Renegade is now relegated to history on this thread. If Renegade's parents don't want it to live in RY4 Land, that's fine. It's now officially deported.

Actually, Gene has resurrected NiteLiteVapor and sells it through a website called PVLiquids.com. All of the juice flavors are always in stock now, including the revered Gold and BH. The prices are higher now, but they often run 30% off sales on the 30ml, which brings the price down to $10.50, which ain't too bad at all. The minijugs also go on sale from time to time. You just have to like their Facebook page or check in on their unofficial ECF page here to know what goes on sale and when, as Gene doesn't want to revive his vendor status on ECF. Not trying to plug NLV. I just thought you might like to know.

EDIT: A side note on NLV...I recently heard a rumor (from NLV themselves) that they are looking into offering DIY flavor concentrates starting some time next year.

Yes, I knew about PVLiquids offering NLV juices. I just wasn't sure if that was the only vendor carrying NLV juices.

Great! I love it when juice vendors offer their flavorings!

I jumped on the 30% off sale on NLV, last week. I've been smoking Renegade like crazy, love that blend. Next up is BH.

I'm sure that many vapers are happy-happy to be able to get NLV liquids again. I, too, enjoy Renegade, even if it's no longer on The Big RY4 List because Gene no longer considers it an RY4. LOL.

Back in the day (meaning 2011), a 30ml bottle of any NLV liquid was $10.00. Shipping was extra, but it was less than many vendors charged. I can't recall exactly what the 130ml mini-jugs were---I never bought one of those, so I don't have a price in my juice purchases database---but $40.00 bubbles up from somewhere in my memory banks.

At any rate, $14.00 for 30mls and $50.00 for 130mls with free shipping is still a good deal. And frequent 30% off sales bring those prices down into the dirt cheap category.

Gene was always very generous with loyal customers, giving them lots of free upgrades. On four occasions, he sent me 130ml jugs when I'd ordered a single 30ml bottle. Once when I ordered two 30ml bottles he included a 30ml bottle of every juice in the NLV line-up. And I wasn't the only customer who enjoyed Gene's largesse---far from it. Many people had similar experiences.

Even today, I have a sizable stash of NLV juices from 2011-2012---aging, of course, but still good.

I totally forgot Gene's prices before he hooked up with Nite Lite, you're right - sorry. His prices now, with the free shipping (usually arrive within 2 days) can't be beat for those that appreciate BH, Renegade, etc. Since I do quite a bit of DIY, the thought of his flavorings would be wonderful.....armegeddon & all that.
