My second bottle of Butterfly's RY4, purchased some months ago at 12mg nic and 10PG/90VG base, was nowhere near as good as my first bottle from 2013, which was 24mg at 50/50. I can't say with certainty that the flavorings or proportions were different, but my taste buds don't care about why. They like what they like and don't like what they don't. My first bottle of Butterfly's was an A-rated RY4. My second bottle is a B- at best.

Steeping takes weeks, not days. And it may or may not make a difference. All we can do with juices that taste weird when fresh is to give 'em lots of time and hope they change for the better. Or maybe that our taste buds change. Or both.

My new bottle of Butterfly's is now six weeks old, and I still don't love it.

Good to know about Butterfly's. I still have some I bought in the summer of last year. If I reorder when what I have is gone I will try a small bottle and take it from there. But I do have other RY4s I like so I'll be OK.

Butterfly's still tastes great to me, but there have been some shipping delays and a new company name and website. Everything seems back to normal now. Surprisingly, I have been vaping an awful lot of the Smokless Image Volt RY4. It's almost as good and so so cheap.

I agree. MrVape RY4 is a longstanding member of the A-List RY4s. It's one of few RY4s that straddles the line between Classic and Custom and does so brilliantly. I have various "vintages" of MrVape RY4, from 2012 to 2013---in different nic strengths---but they're not all quite the same. By contrast, SmoklessImage Volt RY4---made in China---remains completely consistent from batch to batch over time and remarkably good. It's been one of the best Classic RY4s for a long time and still is, in my opinion. And yes, for an American vendor, the price is very low.

When posters on other threads state that they don't like any RY4s, I sometimes reply that they might try MrVape or SmokelessImage. If they don't like either of those, it's time to give up on RY4s altogether and move on.

I've been following this thread for a long while now. I've finally vaped enough stock to order some new flavors. My latest order contains Smokless Image Volt RY4, Butterflies RY4, Crystal Eliquid RY4 Double tobacco, Mr Vape Ry4, RW Vapor RY4, I can't wait for them to arrive! I haven't tried any of these yet, so I'm looking forward to finding a few new flavors to add to the stash.

I just ordered more Butterfly's as well. It's what I vape the most of so I try to stock up during the sales. These 3 are definitely my favorite. I try other RY4s all the time, but the only other one I order with any regularity is The Vapor Room's TVR RY4.

Mr. Vape's RY4 was my first all day vape. I am going to buy another bottle soon and give it another shot. But I'm grateful to have several choices of similar juices.

specs: My 10ml bottle of Millenium Potion RY4 Tobacco was included free with a hardware order from VaporDNA. The misspelling of “Millennium” using only one “N” rather than two is their mistake, not mine.) The golden-colored transparent liquid is 12mg nic in a 40pg/60vg base blend. Nose of the juice is a pleasantly typical RY4 scent. Testing was done by dripping into a 1.5 ohm JoyeTech LR510 atomizer powered by a 1300 Vision Spinner clone set to 4.3 volts. That calculates to 12 watts, but since the voltage drop was .8 volts, down to 3.5 volts at the atty, the actual power was 8 watts.

RY4 Tobacco from VaporDNA is a very good Custom RY4, right in the center of American-style or "Modern" RY4s, with their deeper, "bass" flavor notes and emphasis on tasting each of the three component flavorings individually (as opposed to Classic RY4s from China that offer an overall flavor experience that's singular and unified, with an emphasis on the brighter, more treble end of the flavor scale).

With RY4s, the winning formula is determined not so much by what’s in the juice as by what’s not in it. In other words, as a relatively basic and harmonious combination of flavors (a relatively neutral synthetic tobacco, caramel, and vanilla), An RY4 recipe tends to do better when it follows the “KISS” rule and keeps things simple (at least in the final experience of vaping the juice). Lousy RY4s are usually bad because one or more of the constituent flavorings is somehow “off,” or because extra flavorings have been added that detract from the overall harmony. A few retail RY4s are just plain awful, but most sub-par RY4s either lack balance and harmony, or contains some flavor element that is off-putting.

This RY4 formulation from VaporDNA is simple and very harmonious. In short, it’s terrific. Generally speaking, RY4 is a “comfort” eliquid, not designed to blow us away or knock our socks off. We want to be able to vape an RY4 for a long time without our palates tiring of the flavor. VaporDNA RY4 achieves this beautifully, with a lovely taste and smooth impact.

I could write more, but I think I’ll leave this review brief (at least as compared to my normal long-windedness).

Here's the upshot: If you like Custom RY4s, by all means order a bottle of VaporDNA Millenium Potion RY4 Tobacco. It’s a really, really good RY4.

The Big RY4 Report Card

The grades given for these retail RY4s are my opinion only. They are also current judgments and may differ from grades I gave in the past. So please understand that if you base a buying decision solely on this list, you might end up getting an RY4 that I like rather than one you’ll like, since my tastes and palate are unlikely to match yours perfectly---in some cases, not even remotely. Conversely, you may like an RY4 to which I gave a low grade.

Within each grade, the RY4s are listed in alphabetical order. This kind of judging is ridiculous enough without splitting hairs or nit-picking between RY4s within the same grade. I have, however, subdivided each grade into Classic and Custom, to allow easier comparison of apples to apples and oranges to oranges.
