I just got an order in of my first Halo Freedom and Torque juices today.

I won't discount them, but they're not exactly my favorite.
I saw the term 'cigarillo' used for them somewhere, and I would agree with that.
I don't completely dislike them, but they definitely have a flavor of their own.
I loaded them both up into S-T dc cartos to try throughout the day tomorrow.

BlueMistVaping just released Blackjack which they sent me a free sample of, which upon retrospect after trying these juices tonight, they both remind me a LOT of Blackjack, or vise-versa.

I'm going to vape all three soon to compare, I wonder if Rob was shooting for a Halo style flavor with Blackjack. BJ seems a few miles further down the road toward the cigarillo taste, but all three are hitting me in a very similar cigar-ish way now that I vaped the Halo's tonight.

Which category does Madvapes RY4 fall into?

still,

Did I forget Madvapes Dekang RY4? Sorry. Madvapes Dekang RY4 (at least the 50ml bottle I have from last fall) would qualify nicely within two categories: Stronger Tobacco (less sweet) and Balanced/Blended. I just edited the Category Groups to include Madvapes.

Thanks for pointing out my omission.

Thanks for fixing that, Bill? I read one of the reviews for Madvapes and it said it had a cocoa taste to it... Did you get cocoa when you tried it?

still,

No, I don't pick up any cocoa or chocolate at all from Madvapes Dekang RY4. I just vaped some again to be sure (I am), and I have to add the comic punch line that whoever did that review must have been "cuckoo for coco-puffs." By contrast, FreedomSmokesUSA's RY5 definitely has a choco/cocoa component to it, but I can't think of any RY4 that does. Not to suggest that none exists, but I haven't vaped it.

I know that Madvapes DK RY4 is right in the middle of the pack in the rankings (at #15), but---vaping it again just now---I was struck again by what a tasty juice it is. Very balanced and well-blended. It's really quite good, and so inexpensive at Madvapes. Hard to beat $11.99 for a 50ml bottle of Dekang pre-mix (which the reviews suggest is a safer bet than Madvapes' Custom China version, even though the pre-mix comes in only two nic strengths: 0mg or 24mg.)

If you're not drawn to the heavy hitters on the list (Ikenvape, Dulcis, BackwoodsBrew, etc.) or you don't trust taking a chance on the long-shots I ranked highly (QuickNic and OzarkFresh), you really can't go wrong to just stick with Madvapes RY4.

i look forward to your review of gourmetvapors RY4. i recently got some and was not a fan. i am letting it steep now to see if that helps though.

M_Factor,

Yeah, I'm more than a little dubious myself, but GourmetVapor is having a 50% off sale, so I figured why not give their RY4 a shot? I've never tried any of GV's juices before, so we'll see...

yeah the 50% off sale was what drew me in too. im not sure if i got a bad batch or what but mine is very chemically tasting and has a fake carmel taste. i dont know but it isnt good thats for sure. i am letting it steep hoping it will change but i doubt it. i also got Pineapple Express and it tasted the same way. on the other hand i also picked up Blue RAZ Cotton Candy and it was really good. it didnt have that chemically taste like the others i got (also inclding Strawberry Fields) and it was pretty good. not really something i would vape all day but good and taste like it says. just a little to sweet to be something i would vape all day like a tobacco.

maybe you will have a different opinion though. i do look forward to hearing what you have to say about it.

i will also add i placed my order late Fri. and recieved it monday so the shipping was fast.

For some reason I was under the impression the Dekang and Janty RY4 were the same product. Silly me. I've been vaping the Dekang since I started vaping and it's still my favorite. It has the photo of rows of tobacco plants on the bottle but no company name.

I suppose I have never tried Janty RY4 then. They're out of stock right now. So is BWB RY4 and have been for awhile. I ordered some Ozark Fresh RY4 two weeks ago and it still hasn't arrived.

If you like Madvapes RY4 but wish it had just a little bit more flavor try Ikenvapes. Ikenvapes taste very similar to Madvapes but with more of the same flavor and a touch thicker. Either of them I could vape all day long everyday, but I don't, I like to change it up with BWB juices.

Hey Bill,
Thanks for clearing that up for me! I have been vaping for 2.5 years now, so I was fortunate enough to have vaped the original RY4/Riskee Yuice, so nothing is ever going to compare... Even Ikenvape, which I have tried! Don't get me wrong Ikenvape RY4 is a tasty vape and I will buy more, but I 'd be cheating everyone to say it is the original. It perhaps may be the next best thing, but I gave up on trying to find the mysterious and infamous, Original Dekang RY4. I doubt it will ever reappear because someone would have introduced it by now.

Best I have tried as a replacement: #1. Ikenvape RY4 Worst: Eliquidplanet RY4(worse tasting juice that I have ever tried hands down)

bassnut,

Hey, we share a common admiration: Jack Casady. I saw Jefferson Airplane live in 1968, and from the moment Casady started the concert with that great rolling riff of his from "The Other Side of this Life," I knew that I had to play bass. By 1972, I was playing up a storm, and even met Casady after a Hot Tuna concert. A very unassuming, quiet guy, as you probably know. I went on to play bass in a wonderful Celtic band called Swoop. Eventually made my own one-man album of Celtic fusion in the mid-90s. Wow, talk about the halcyon days of yesteryear...

I'm not sure who makes Janty's RY4. Might be pre-mixed to their specs by Dekang, but perhaps not.

Janty has Classic RY4 in stock right now. Their site isn't user-friendly, which is why you thought it was out-of-stock. Once you're on one of the Classic RY4 pages, you have to select a nic strength from the pull-down menu to see if it's in stock or not. If it is, the "Notify me" button will change to an "Add to Cart" button. Not all sizes are available in all concentrations, but about half are.

By the way, our resident authority on Janty RY4---wv2win---tells me that the RY4 from Janty's new Elixir line is not nearly as good as their Classic RY4. Go figure.

Janty and MadVapes RY4's are not close IMO and I have tried both. I vaped the original RY4 and Janty's is still the CLOSES in taste from the 7-8 I have tried. I agree with Bill that it should be in the top 5.

If you want to try Janty's RY4, I would suggest getting on the "notify me" list. It's always worked for me.

Bill, I remember "Hot Tuna" - at least the name of the band. I was more into Grand Funk Railroad and Sly and the Family Stone.

Good explanation on how to navagate through Janty's cumbersome web site. Janty's Elixir is actually not a "bad" liquid. It's just not IMO nearly as good as their Classic RY4. I found it to be much more "muted". I probably should vape a little more of it but I'm sure it won't "unseat" the classic.

Bless you, billherbst and double-bless you for creating this vital thread. Thanks for your help. Thanks especially for adding the Janty RY4 into the evaluation because, like I said before, without it we would have no standard to measure RY4 by. This thread should be made into a sticky.

Jackavi.jpg

Jack and I are friends sorta. At least we communicate by email from time to time and we have met 2 or 3 times and have done business together etc. but we've never really hung out and shot the breeze. I still play bass professionally and there's some of him and a few other people, in everything I play.
In later years Jack has developed a very dry and quirky sense of humor. If you don't catch on you'll think he's annoyed with you. It's a self-protection mechanism. He's been very kind and generous with me.

Hi Bill, even though tribeca hasn't won you over (yet :)), or possibly ever, it was GREAT as always to read your review! Thanks for giving it a try and giving us your take on it. Curious though, did you note any chocolate notes in it? I never did, but wanted to know if your refined taste buds did...

Thanks again and as always, keep your awesome reviews coming :) I don't taste the bug spray in it, but have to admit that cracked me up!
