After toiling for a few days, I have read this entire thread and learned much about the history of our vaping pioneers, greatest juice chefs and corp-fathers.

Now, let me begin by saying I think RY4 is the worst, most wretched, vile, swill-like, disgusting piss vape I've ever had in my short history of vaping. And the reason I think that is the Dekang RY4 I got from LiteCig.

Before I got into vaping, I did plenty of research, both in gear and juices. Being an unemployed vaper on a tight budget, my first PV's were a couple $8 401 knock offs from Deal Extreme. Before I decided to switch to e-cigs, I had read a lot about the mythical RY4, and how it was the best taste ever. After reading it was caramel, vanilla and tobacco, the idea just tantalized my senses and evoked images of a smooth, lightly sweet, cigar-like deliciousness. Fortunately for me, there was no RY4 for sale at Deal Extreme, so I got some Camel instead. (which I absolutely loved)

Fast forward 1 month and I am getting my first order from LiteCig. Some supplies for my stepson and a few juices for me, including Dekang RY4. Words cannot describe what that RY4 tasted like, but I will try: It was a mixture between vaping a warm, steaming pile of cow manure over a bed of wild flowers and inhaling the most vile and offensive perfume in your anosmic grandma's arsenal. Even my wife complained it had a foul perfumey smell that stuck around for a while.

I had read a lot about steeping, so I dared to hope, and after steeping for a month, lo and behold. The taste was, in fact, worse. On my desperation to make it vapeable (remember I am a vaper on a budget and every ml is sacrosanct), I tried to cut it down with the few remains of my precious Camel... and it still TASTED THE SAME. Even after letting it steep with the Camel for a week, the taste was just as vile, floral, chemical and perfumey. By now, I assume it is residing in the nearest landfill.

It was then that I decided that something must be wrong with my taste buds and RY4 is just not for me, and it will probably never be. And until I land a source of employment (been looking for a few months now), I can't afford to experiment with juices and sample flavors unless I can be reasonably certain I will enjoy them. Every 1ml I get, is 1ml I have to vape. No juice cellar for me, at this time.

This has made me extremely scared of ordering RY4's. I want to. The flavors sound incredible on paper, and as I picture what it could taste like in my mind, I get a smile on my face. But the reality is, I ordered it and it was wretched. It did have caramel, it did have a tiny bit of vanilla, zero tobacco (even after mixing it 2/3 RY4 1/3 Camel), mostly bad and stale perfume.

Like I said, I'm a vaper on a very tight budget, so until I can improve my economic situation, I cannot and will not risk my 'vaping allowance' on a juice I am almost certain to despise and will not be able to vape. And mind you, I did vape over half of the wretched RY4 bottle because I had nothing else - I nearly went to buy a $1 pack of cigars to tide me over while I got new juices. In this sense, RY4 is not the vape that got me off analogs. It's the vape that nearly got me back on them.

All this said, however, when I CAN increase my vaping allowance enough to take a leap of faith on trying another RY4, this thread will greatly help me make an informed decision, and I deeply thank Bill for starting it. It has actually given me hope that there may be a RY4 out there that is like what I picture in my mind and I can love, even after I have officially written them off as the worst guano in the vaping world. (and decided the name actually stood for Revolting Yuck x4)

EDIT: Let this not be a reflection of LiteCig. They are a great vendor with some of the best prices in the western hemisphere. They just happen to be the people from whom I got Dekang Revolting Yuck x4 from. I have no reason to think the Dekang sold by other vendors is different and not the same horrid, gag inducing, excrement flavored, unvapable waste water with 2.4% nicotine content.

i really liked the new review. very well done as usual. i also agree with the the change in the rankings. while our taste may differ on a few its now more in line with how i would rank things myself. keep up the good work Bill. this has turned into a golden thread for all RY4 lovers!

by the way thank you again for the tip on using the clear smoke tech dual coils with the extracted tobacco juices. ive been able to take apart and clean them a few times now when they start to gunk up and they are good as new. no more tossing after 1 day like i was with the Boges. while i really like the Boges for most other juices and will continue to use them they just cant handle those juices.

Hiryu.

i can tell you with certainty that not all RY4 taste like Dekang RY4. while most tend to like Dekangs RY4 i agree with you to an extent that it is some what perfumey and chemically tasting. thats the first thing that will turn me off to a juice. i could vape Dekang RY4 but it most certainly wouldnt be my first choice. i will also say if you dont like Dekang RY4 dont try Ikenvapes RY4(althought its better). they are very similar to me so i dont think it would be for you.

a few i wouldnt be afraid to recommend would be Prime Vapings PV4, Vaperites VR4, and even Renegade RY4 (because its cheap at $3.50 for 10ml or $10 for 30ml and doesnt taste chemically or perfumey).

good luck with your future vaping and i hope you find a good RY4 to change your mind about how you feel about it now.

I think when Bill thinks this thread has run it's life, he should start a thread; "Love RY4? You may also like....".

Ceegary,

I've been very surprised by this thread. The amount of interest, the high level of civility, and the wealth of information that's emerged (even if we can't verify all of it) are more than I could have hoped for.

When I burn out (which I probably will at some point, but I'm not close to yet), I'll most likely take a break from posting, but I hope that this thread will go on without me. It already has a life of its own, like a big, goofy, but lovable St. Bernard dog. Yeah, I'm holding the leash, sort of, but all I can do is hang on while it drags me wherever it wants to go.

If I were to start another biting-off-more-than-I-can-chew "Round-up" thread like this one, what I'd probably do is "The Really Big Best-Tobacco-Vapes-Ever Round-up.". That is, unless somebody else beats me to it... Anyone? Someone? Bueller? Bueller?

On the other hand, if I think that ranking the best RY4s is difficult (and it is), just imagine trying to rank and categorize the best tobacco vapes. OMG.

I can see it now, "Bounty Hunter is not a tobacco! I don't taste tobacco!" Yeah, that thread could get heated. I think it smart to keep the RY4 thread and expand.

Speaking of which, I have a new RY4 coming in (hopefully tomorrow) from Copper Creek. It is brand new, and I will give my thoughts on it when it arrives. I also have a fresh batch of Prime Vaping's and KickBassVapor to sample and review.

Looking forward to your thoughts on the Copper Creek RY4. I've been curious about it for awhile.

Another one I'm curious about is the RY4 from deejstuff.com. A lot of people seem to like his stuff but I haven't heard anything about the RY4. So has anyone here tried it?

I almost ordered from there. They have a 14650 e-power for a great price right now. I would also like to know how their RY4 is.

Wow! Just goes to show how much tastes in e-juice differ MRobs! I absolutely love IKEN RY4 and have vaped 30 mils and will get 30 more tomorrow! I thought BWB RY4 was too mellow and I really love Don's juice. I probably won't be buying much from BWB in the future because there are too many good vendors out there that you don't have to wait weeks for them to re-stock your favorite juice.

LOL, I hear ya. I've been waiting to try the honey flue nut so long that I forgot about it until I typed this.

i think a tobacco thread like this would be awesome. i wish i had they linguistics/editorial/review skills you have so i could do it myself. the tobacco juices seem to be really taking off lately and i think we will see many new extracted tobaccos in the near future. there is potential there for it to be an epic thread like this RY4 thread and i really hope to see it come about some day.

The nice thing about this one is it is devoted to a single flavor and it's variants. But "tobacco" is too broad. My favorite, 555, is nothing like Kamel, which I despise, but they are both tobacco. Now if there was a thread devoted to finding the perfect 555 I'd be all over that one

that is true. it is kinda broad. i would like to see an extracted tobacco thread but im not sure if there are quite enough yet to make a thread of this magnitude. hopefully that will change soon.

a 555 thread would also be a good idea. im not as experienced with 555s but would like to learn more.

I really enjoy some of Copper Creek's nicquids. Their 100% naturally flavored fruits are amazing. The Raspberry Danish is addicting, and House Blend is one of those flavors that change with each sitting. Nutty cocoa one time, and sugar cookie the next.

So as soon as it was offered, I ordered 30 ml of Twisted Tobacco from Copper Creek in their stock 40%PG and 18mg nic. It is a fairly dark brown. The smell is of a rich vanilla. I am using a 1.5 ohm dual coil on a fully-charged RIVA.

billherbst may need to add an Über Dessert category to his list for this RY4. It tastes like an RY4 that is topped with white icing. The vanilla is most prominant, followed by the caramel. Tobacco is there, but well behind the others. I do not want to imply that this is unvapable. It is good if you are looking for an RY4 cake. There is also the slightest hint of a chemical taste. I am very susceptible to chemical tastes, but this feels like it will go away with a brief steep. Hopefully the ultra sweetness of Twisted Tobacco will mellow as well.

This bottle is only three days old, and I feel it will change as most of Copper Creek's complex flavors do over time. I will revisit it in a week or less, and post any changes. The only reason I am posting this review this soon, is to give my first impression. RY4 cake with white icing is my first impression.

hang,

The Über Dessert Category---I love it! I must be going through a sweet phase. Started with Bounty Hunter and its vanilla white cake yumminess, then I found myself vaping VR4 more than usual for its rich, oozing caramel, and then on AG's recommendation I bought some StL Gooey Butter Cake from Vapealicious and have been stuck on that for the past week. So I'm in sugar-sweet heaven. I'll probably blow out on dessert vapes fairly soon (I always do), but right now "RY4 cake with white icing" sounds delicious.

A couple days ago I got my order of Janty Elixir RY4---two 15ml bottles, one PG, the other VG. Even without steeping, they taste just like the sample of Janty Classic RY4 that wv2win sent me, except more intense. But that's probably just inherent to my changeover from atty dripping RY4s to loading them into dual-coil mega xl cartos. In my experience, dual coils concentrate and intensify the flavor of most juices. I don't feel any need to do another review of Janty RY4, except to affirm that it deserves its place in the Top 5.

I've ordered a bottle of ECBlend RY4, so I'll review that down the road after it arrives and has a week or so to steep. At 37 and counting, I figure we've got, what?, maybe 40 more RY4s to review? Jeez, by then I'll be either crazy or broke (maybe both).

Wasn't one of the thread regulars---I think it was wv2win, but my memory may be flawed---supposed to get a sample in the mail of a Mystery RY4 from 2009 that another ECF member found tucked away in a drawer? Whatever happened with that? The oldest juice I have in my stash is less than a year old. I wonder if a 2009 juice would still be good---you know, like the way certain old wines eventually turn into vinegar or old nitrate film stock disintegrates to dust in the cans.

Oh well, never mind, I'm off to Copper Creek to check out some "RY4 Cake." LOL.

Just came across this new vendor and was immediately curious about their RY4. Their other stuff seems to be pretty well received. Looking forward to your thoughts!

Billherbst, if you like gooey butter cake and vr4, you will like twisted tobacco. I think the icing I am getting is from the rich buttery caramel. I look forward to your take on it. There is a coupon. I think its "VEGAS!" with the exclamation point. Good for 10%. Make sure you get some House Blend and a Raspberry Danish.
