GM,

If your experience is anywhere close to mine, a VV will make all the difference in the world. I simply won't vape at 3.7 anymore. I have 13 variable-voltage PVs/mods, and even my eGo batts are unregulated (like SLB kGos and such), so they run at 4 volts (I have to recharge them more often to keep the voltage up, but that's OK).

I started off a year ago with a 3.7V Riva and jumped to higher voltage vaping very quickly. Within a month, I'd bought a MaxiRoughStack and two Omegas that I ran at 6.4V with stacked rcr123a batteries for awhile, although now I run those mods at 5V with the special NIMH battery, same one I use in both my Phidias bottom-feeders.

I never owned an "authentic" Joye eGo (which are regulated to run at 3.2V), but I can't imagine that it provides much satisfaction. Even with a 1.5 ohm atty or carto, we're still talking less than 7 watts, and that just won't cut it. I hardly ever vape at less than 10 watts and above.

Higher voltage is the only way to go.

Well then in that case I look forward to it. I think I'll start on around 4-5 volts and work my way up till I find my sweet spot. Now if that Health Cabin will just hurry uo an get here. LOL

I just tried the RY4 i got free with my greenhouseone order and omg its soooooooo good . A new juice to add to my daily vapes collection for sure . I didnt see their ry4 on the list but im thinking it would somewhere at the top . Iv tries madvapes and nhalers ry4 and hated them both . Nhalers was horrid . I wasnt happy when i got this ry4 from greenhouseone because of the others iv tried but this is completely different stuff . Its only a slight hint of tobacco but mostly a amazing roasted caramel taste .Maybe even with a slight cotton candy taste with it . At 3.7 its good but at 6v on a std boge it is heavenly . So good i wanna kick my momma .lol . Ill be ordering more for sure . Good thing is the free bottle they gave me is a 10ml along with another free 10ml of usa mix which was good too but that one is a strong tobacco taste like a good cigar . SOmeone needs to go get some of their RY4 then add it to the list . Top 5???

Hello everyone. I just wanted to introduce myself. I am new to vaping and even newer to ecf and have been following this thread silently for almost two months (in the beginning I read hours a day to catch up) Because of all the time spent with you, I really feel like part of the fam.

I just wanted to say thank you. One of my best friends gave me some VR4 from Vaperite to try and he lead me to this thread. I have learned an incredible amount of information here and on the rest of ecf. I know that I have saved tons of money on stuff I wouldn't have liked because of it.

So far I have tried Vaperite VR4 (my favorite) actually, I am almost done with a 60 ml bottle I bought, so it's more than tried :)

Based on this thread, I have also bought and tried (based on the ones that were cheapest, for now, and sounded good) Health Cabin Dekang RY4 all the way from China, which I did not like at first, waaay more intense of a flavor than VR4. But I let it steep more(after 3 weeks on the boat) and vaped a few drops every once in a while. Different, stronger tobacco, but I do see what you mean about it being balanced...I can vape it now and enjoy it for a little while.

and the VG Keemer RY3 from Good Prophets. Bill you were right, it is a similar caramel to the VR4 and much cheaper. Time will tell, but I am really starting to like it, maybe even my favorite, although I will always have some VR4 around.

Obviously, I love the caramelly ones. I was thinking that I would like the PV4 from the review. Based on my tastes do you think it is a good bet?

PV4 to me has Vanilla as the front flavor. Very sweet.

You might try Caramel from Mom and Pop's Vapor Shop. You can use it to up the caramel in bland RY4s. It is really good by itself and affordable. $4.99 for 10ml and 15% off with ECFROCKS. So $4.25 plus shipping. Their RY4 wasn't great, but their Tobacco Haze is very good too.

You also might give Joogler Juice's Joogler's Blend a try. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...er-juice-5-00-off-your-first-juice-order.html You get a $5 off first time only coupon (ECF5OFF). Joogler's Blend is $6 and shipping is $2.50, so $3.50 shipped for 10ml. Some people really like it (I do).

Vermillion Rivers has a really good vanilla tobacco. 4.5 ML Sample Bottle Use FREESAMPLE for a free 4.5ml bottle with $2.50 shipping. (One time only.)

You can try and win 60ml of Quick Nic Juice's RY4 (my favorite) by guessing which football team is going to score the most points this (each) week. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...y-football-contest-chance-win-every-week.html Only about 15 people have been playing, so if you know football...

Revolver electronics will give you $16 of free stuff. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...rettes/232378-want-10-tell-us-your-story.html Not yet tried their juices, and I don't see an RY4. You get $5 for making an account, $1 for signing up to their newsletter, and $10 to tell your story (see link).

Just wanted to update my experience with Raf-a-liscious from AVE. Had it in my REO mini for two days so I can have some time to form an opinion on this juice.

The flavor is something that I'm familiar with but, yet it differentiates itself by the complexity of flavors that I'm experiencing. So, with the tobacco that was used is comparatively similar to Dekang RY4 in that it's a nutty tobacco. Although, Raf-a-liscious is less pungent than Dekang and therefore, more enjoyable as a whole. I also noticed has a small hint of sweetness that blends very well with the tobacco flavor that I'm tasting.

This can be attributed to the vanilla that I noticed, which is very unique. In that it isn't a traditional type that I've tasted with some of the other Ry4's that I have. Usually it's more robust and unmistakable in what I'm tasting. Such as DIY Flavorshacks Caramel Vanilla RY4 where it's in the forefront with the caramel and is very rich. Both flavors overpowering the tobacco to the point where it can be considered a dessert type of juice. With Raf-a-licious, the Vanilla tastes different in that it's very mellow and less pungent. Definitely suiting the rest of the mix very well in that it blends with the tobacco to the point where it's hardly noticeable unless you spend some time to analyze that it's there.

The big difference with others is that it doesn't seem to contain any caramel at all. There is also another element of flavor that I can't figure out at this point. It's there but, it isn't if that makes any sense. Overall, Raf-a-liscious tastes clean to my palate. It's very enjoyable and can be an all day vape for some people out there. Honestly, I like switching between a few flavors during the day. So, this is one of the best RY4's that I've tasted or bought. I highly recommend this for someone that is looking for a RY4 that isn't to sweet and wants something that has a nutty tobacco in it.

chris,

Although you've been lurking at the party for quite awhile, welcome anyway!

As hangdude wrote, PrimeVaping PV4 is Vanilla-Rich. I have it listed under both Vanilla-Rich and Caramel-Rich categories, but the Vanilla is a bit stronger. I'd suggest trying Want2Vape RY4 instead, or perhaps CopperCreek Voodoo. Vixen Vapors RY4 is another good caramelly choice. None of those is particularly inexpensive, but CC and VV have frequent sales.

Although I haven't tasted it myself, the Greenhouse One RY4 mentioned earlier today by another poster might be right up your alley. Supposedly sweet and very caramel-rich, at a mere 18 bucks for 60mls shipped, it's a steal (assuming you can wait the 3-4 weeks for slowboat shipping from China).

ECSI (ecsiinc.com) is among the older juice vendors on the internet. Their Kick Juice line of eliquids dates back aways, to earlier days of vaping, when liquids were a bit different than now (some would say better).

Rather than buy Toasted Toffee Kick Juice from ECSI as eliquid, I purchased a 10ml bottle of their custom flavoring concentrate of the same name (for sale on their site right next to the eliquid version) and mixed up a DIY batch of my own juice---a 70/30 PG/VG blend at 18ml nic strength. Color of the liquid is pale bronze. Testing was done in my usual manner, by dripping into a bonut-modded Joye LR atty and loaded into a homemade syringe dual-coil carto-tank, both 1.5 ohms and run at about 4.2 volts.

A couple of questions relevant to the RY4 thread are: What constitutes an RY4-variant? Where do we draw the line between an RY4-variant and a simple tobacco blend that uses either or both of the other primary RY4 ingredients? Many vendors sell tobacco blends that incorporate either caramel or vanilla or both. Are all these caramel tobacco or vanilla tobacco blends RY4-variants? I would say that some are, but many---even most---are not.

My reasons for that opinion are far from scientific, and perhaps not even rational. To me, RY4s have (or "should" have) a characteristic flavor signature. Even though the many RY4s available in the marketplace vary quite widely, they should share a common flavor profile, at least in theory. In the real world, though, RY4s are all over the map, both hither and yon, from the sublime to the ridiculous. Sometimes, about all that different RY4s seem to have in common is the fact that their label reads "RY4." Conversely, certain juices that don't carry the fabled RY4 moniker are more faithful to the classic RY4 flavor profile than other so-called RY4s. Raf-a-licious from AVE is a case in point. Despite being an RY4-variant, Raf-a-licious tastes more like a classic RY4 than a "variation" on RY4. Hell, it tastes more like classic RY4 than most RY4s.

So, I have two criteria for an RY4-variant.

1. It cannot be named RY4.
2. It must taste like RY4.
The second criterion---tasting like an RY4---can occur in one of two ways---either it's obviously emulating the RY4 flavor profile, or it is subtly reminiscent of RY4s.

That vague two-point definition has lots of wiggle room, but it definitely excludes many of the Caramel Tobaccos or Vanilla Tobaccos currently available in the eliquid marketplace. Which ones? Well, I don't have a list, but if you gave me a blended tobacco juice of either type---with caramel or vanilla added to a tobacco base---I could tell you after just a couple of tokes whether it's an RY4-variant or just another flavored tobacco blend.

Toasted Toffee passes the acid test for me. It isn't named "RY4," but it's definitely reminiscent of RY4s. Ergo, it is an RY4-variant. And a darned good one, too. Case closed.

Toasted Toffee is the third RY4-variant I've reviewed recently. The other two were Moondrop RY42 and Alien Visions Raf-a-licious. All three are terrific, top-notch juices that honor the history of RY4s and contribute to its legacy.

Toasted Toffee is also the third juice out of all the RY4s and RY4-variants I've ever vaped that contains a sour element, like Janty RY4 and Raf-a-licious, making the juice a sweet-sour concoction. Here the sourness isn't as pronounced, because Toasted Toffee adds a third element: a slight saltiness. As a result---unlike Janty and Raf, which provide a wonderful alternating balance of sweet-sour---Toasted Toffee Kick Juice offers a trio that operates in equilateral harmony: sweet-sour-salty. It's a delicious combination that seasons the tobacco and toffee flavors.

A good tobacco base is a requirement for a high ranking from me, and Toasted Toffee has that. The tobacco is not quite as exotic and unique as Moondrop's, but neither is it as squeaky clean as Raf-a-licious. It falls midway between the two, sort of clean but sort of exotic, and nicely toasted. I approve heartily. I can't taste any vanilla, but this juice is definitely caramel-rich. That's what you get on inhale---good tobacco and yummy caramel. Then on exhale, the trio of sweet-sour-salty shows up to tickle the palate and leave a deliciously lingering aftertaste.

I'm starting to get spoiled. These three RY4-variants are not only among the best juices I've tried recently, they're among the best RY4s ever. Raf-a-licious is the most classic, while Moondrop RY42 is the most eccentric, with Toasted Toffee Kick Juice in the middle. I'll use the adjective idiosyncratic.

Big List Ranking #11
Category Groups: Caramel-Rich, Variant, and---a new category---Sweet & Sour

Vaped lots of juies so far (well lots might not be right in comparison to others on ECF to be sure) but I love Avejuice and decided to make Raf my first RY4, got it in the mail today, walked in, and into the buzz pro it goes! Mild and delicious! Maybe I would like it to be a bit more bold, and perhaps it will get that way with some time. But if I want a strong tobac vape I go with Casablanca anyway. But RAF could definitely go in with Boba's and GJ with my orders from Ben. Another winner from AVE

If you want something more bold from AVE then you should try out Havana Gold. It's good as hell.

I finally got my VV mod, an Infinity Pro. While re-experiencing the 2 RY4's I have right now, NiteLiteVapor Renegade RY4 & Madvapes Dekang RY4, I am having a hard time placing the new found flavors in both. The NLV is a sweetish taste that isn't unpleasant to me but I can't pin down. Maybe it is the mix of the caramel and vanilla? The Madvapes is very tobacco sting with a bare hint of the caramel on the inhale I think. It is very interesting how they have both changed since I moved up in voltages. I am looking forward to when my Health Cabin RY4 arrives to see how it compares since they are both Dekang but the Health Cabin is supposed to be the new improved version. It's like I am finally getting to see what this vaping is all about.

G, I've had my IPro now for 9 days and my experiences are the same. All my juices taste different, including the RY4's. The Health Cabin Dekang is just way too strong for my tastes. Vaperite VR4 is smooth and yummy on this palate.

I'm confused. Also, Backwoods Brew RY4 used to be #2 now it is #20. Why did it go so far down the list for you? Did you not like it so much over time or as you tried others you just liked them better?

GM and Chris,

Yes, more power makes all the difference in getting the most out of vaping, which is to say, more watts. Upping the voltage is one way to increase power (wattage), while the other way is to lower the resistance in the circuit. The only way I vape at 3.7 volts anymore is by using low-resistance atties or cartos (either 1.5-ohm 510/306 atties and 1.5-ohm dual coil or 1.7-ohm Resurrector cartos).

Most of the PVs/mods I keep loaded and ready to go with my stable of daily juices run at 4 volts and higher. I still use some standard resistance 3.0-ohm cartos (either Boge or Good Prophets, which are longer and hold more juice), but only at 5 volts or higher.

Besides newbies starting off with gas station/mall kiosk mini-ecigs and penstyle kits with tiny batteries (which usually come with standard resistance atties and prefilled carts), I wonder about people using "authentic" Joye eGo batteries, which are MOSFET-limited to run at what? 3.2-3.4 volts? Give me a break. How do those folks experience any impact from vaping? It must be like vaping air with a little bit of flavor. I'm not down on all eGo batts, though. Some of the unregulated eGo clone batts are pretty good when freshly charged---SLB kGo/Rivas and Hello 016s, for example---because they start off providing 4 volts or a little more (though they fall back toward 3.7 fairly quickly). I have a bunch of those, and they're decent with LR atties/cartos. But mostly it's VV for me.

Too much voltage (6 volts and above) diminishes the flavors of many juices, but that mid-range of voltage around 4.5-5.5 volts is generally a sweet spot for maximum flavor and impact (my use of word "impact" includes throat hit and vapor production, but mostly I use it to imply the palpable sensation that we're doing something...).

I'm confused. Also, Backwoods Brew RY4 used to be #2 now it is #20. Why did it go so far down the list for you? Did you not like it so much over time or as you tried others you just liked them better?

Your confusion makes good sense and is perfectly understandable. It's my fault. I've been using the word "variant" in two separate contexts with different meanings. I use the term "RY4-variant" to describe juices that are not named RY4 but taste like RY4s, and thus deserve to be included on the Big List. I also named one of the group categories "Variant (non-typical)," but that has a different meaning. It means an RY4 or RY4-variant that is unusual, distinctive, or even deviant (LOL). So, from now on I'll change the name of that Category Group to "Distinctive (non-typical)" to avoid confusion.

Why has BWB RY4 fallen in my rankings from #1 in June to #20 in October? Well, a couple of reasons apply.

I bought my first 30ml bottle of BWB RY4 way back in November 2010. By May, I had bought and vaped only four or five RY4s, and BWB was clearly the best of that small bunch. Then I began buying lots of RY4s in preparation for starting the review thread in June, and---personally for me---BWB gradually began to lose some luster in my eyes (or palate).

I made it #1 in the original rankings not because it was my favorite (it wasn't by then), but rather to honor its standing in the ECF community. I mean, a number of very popular juices are occasionally unavailable (Boba's and Bounty Hunter both have periods when you can't buy them, and KickBassVapor takes orders only two days a week). But what other juice is always limited to buying only one bottle? None. BWB RY4 is famous and unique in that regard. So it got top ranking on the original list.

Over time, however, my rankings have become more personal (what I like and don't like) and less a factor of what I see as generally popular. Whether or not I like a juice is still not the only factor in it's ranking---Janty RY4 is ranked #1 in part because it's the true original first-ever RY4, and also in part because I love its sweet-sour balance, a trait that was, until just the past two weeks, unique among RY4s (now there are two others that use a sour element)---but yes, the list has evolved to reflect my personal, subjective preferences more than it did at the beginning.

Now it's October. I've bought my second bottle of BWB RY4, but I've also bought, vaped, and reviewed 52 other RY4s and RY4-variants. It turns out that I like 19 of them better than BWB for one reason or another. So it's #20. Heck, it may fall further for all I know. Basically, I once loved it, but now I don't.

Even though I've bought 23 BWB juices since I started vaping, I admit that I'm not as big a fan of BWB as I was. Don't get me wrong---Don's a master juice alchemist, and BWB is a great vendor. I just got a little tired of some of BWB's characteristic flavor signatures.

Anyway, thanks for pointing out the "variant" confusion. I'll fix that on the next update of the list.

That works because my IPro goes up to 5.5, so far I am loving it and I think I a just now getting to really taste the vape. Now I just have to wait awhile before buying a bunch if new juices because my vaping budget is about maxed out for awhile. Oh well more time to plan on what to try next in the RY4 fam and so many other options! This thread is a constant and great help and I thank everyone here, especially you Mr. Bill.

Below is a list of my "daily juices"---the liquids I currently vape every day or nearly so, along with the vendors who sell them---my personal "Top 40" or thereabouts. I post this in the hope that knowing what juices I like in general (outside the specific realm of RY4s) might give people who read this thread a better idea of the warp and woof of my particular palate, to more accurately assess the RY4 rankings for themselves. Obviously, my rankings are more useful if your tastes and mine lean in a similar direction. Conversely, the rankings are probably bogus for you if our preferences in juice differ markedly.

Like the Big RY4 List Rankings, this little herd of daily vapes changes often. I'm going through a "coffee phase" right now, so the list has seven coffee juices. Two months ago that number was only two. Next month it might be down to four or even two again. Three juices I vape daily are RY4-variants that also appear on the Big RY4 List.

No individual rankings here, just groups by type listed alphabetically. "DIY" after a vendor's name means that I buy the vendor's custom flavoring concentrate for that specific juice and mix it myself with nic liquid and PG/VG. "DIY" with no vendor means I make it from scratch, using flavors from any of the common suppliers (Perfumer's Apprentice, LorAnn, Capella, etc.).

As below my signature line....Toasted Toffee is the best. I like you, mix it myself. I could kick myself for trying others for nothing comes close to the Toasted Toffee. After trying other yukky RY3-RY4 variants, I no longer will try any other. It is the supreme liquid. You are spot on with your description. The only one in your list is the Keemer RY3...I thought it was awful...like Iken Vapes RY4 but not as well as the Toasted Toffee. Jane has got that one down pat and it has been around awhile...she also has a awesome Tobacco and Virginia....I think that is where I am gonna stay with and not wander anymore for Tobacco and RY4 stuff....free shipping also...can't beat it. I mix my own Toasted Toffee as you do....beautiful color, beautiful taste...I mix around 10 drops per 10 ml....

Thanks for the list and the description....like I said you are dead on right on this one!!!!

Just when it appeared that the RY4 thread had breathed its last (12 days without a post is pretty much dead in the water, leaving the thread buried four pages deep on the Review Forum), I looked in the mail today and found my recent order from Mom and Pop Vapor Shop, which included---guess what?---a 10ml bottle of their Mom and Pop RY4. Yeah, I know, I said that I wouldn’t buy any more RY4s. Well, I haven’t, with this one exception.

That 10ml bottle contains amber-colored liquid at 24mg nic strength in an undefined blend of PG and VG, which---due to its thickness---I would guess to be 30/70 or even 20/80 PG/VG. Mom and Pop custom tailor the PG/VG blend of each juice based on their feeling of what works best for that particular blend of flavorings, and then they offer only that blend. I much prefer that approach over letting the customer specify PG/VG blend ratios, although I do wish M&P revealed the exact percentages in each juice (they don’t). I tested the juice for review by dripping into a Cisco 306 1.5 ohm atty powered by a Hello 016 battery running at 4.1 volts.

Mom and Pop Vapor Shop is a relatively new vendor, have started their online web sales this past summer. I’ve ordered juices from them twice, the first time in July during their 50% off Grand Opening sale, and again last week. I’ve tried four of their tobacco flavors (10 Forty, Tobacco Haze, Tobacco Dolce, and RY4), one coffee flavor (Keswick Coffee), and one candy flavor (Pchela’s Famous Five-Layer).

M&P’s tobacco juices are based on Tobacco Absolute, the strongest of which (and my favorite) is 10 Forty. That juice bears a strong resemblance to the Straight Up line of tobaccos from Moondrop, which are also based on Absolute, although M&P’s tobaccos have less exotic spiciness. I have only recently come to appreciate Bulgarian Tobacco Absolute, and both vendors use it in a way I find very tasty and immensely pleasing, with none of the ashy aftertaste sometimes associated with Absolute, but with all the dark, Balkan flavor intensity.

Here’s the product description of Mom and Pop RY4 from their ordering page:

Who doesn't like RY4? Our version is for those who love the sweet tobacco flavors. This does contain real tobacco absolute
but is very heavy on the sweet stuff. There are 5 different flavors used to make up this RY4, betcha can't guess. Give it a try!

As might be expected, given the parallels between their respective tobacco flavors, M&P RY4 also bears some similarity to Moondrop RY42, but with significant differences. Both are exotic, but RY42 is a bit more so, challenging the palate, whereas Mom and Pop is slightly sweeter, aiming to please more standard tastes. They're very close, though, and neither has any nuttiness. M&P RY4 is very caramel-rich, and I would hazard a guess at either Cotton Candy or Marshmallow flavoring added to increase the Ethyl Maltol sweetness. If you don’t like sweet RY4s, pass on this one in favor of any other more classic and balanced RY4 near the top of the list.

Interestingly (and paradoxically), M&P RY4 is not only a sweet dessert vape, but a strong tobacco juice as well, thanks to the deep power of the Tobacco Absolute. Normally, stronger tobacco means less sweetness, but not in this juice. In other words, it’s very rich, and---to my palate at least---quite delicious.

I like M&P RY4 a lot, just a smidgen more than I like Moondrop RY42 (I think they're both great, however---both of them make many of the RY4s on the list seem boring by contrast). Since I like Mom and Pop RY4 a tad more than Moondrop, I’m giving it the #10 spot that RY42 formerly occupied on the Big Ranking List. M&P’s is quite simply the best sweet RY4 I’ve ever vaped, at least given the way my nose and taste buds work these days. Will I still feel the same a year from now? Who knows? Juice reviews are written in the moment and for the moment.

Category Groups include Stronger Tobacco, Dessert, Caramel-Rich, and Non-typical Variants.
