Just got back from the doctor's office and I agreed to abstain from vaping for a month and then take another round of pulmonary test. If there is improvement then we might have some REOnauts happy to get a few rare hard to get stabilized REOs. :( I hope results ends up in disappointing them. :)

like me, i am certain most Reonauts would only be disappointed if you had to quit vaping

Gil, I would think the Dr. would consider that you have been pretty sedentary for a long while. That alone can cause problems with your lung function.

To attribute the cause of your pneumonia to vaping is absurd. Your lifestyle took a major shock and change.

I would have a very tough time listening to a Dr. if I was in your situation. If you are still changing the amount of exercise you get daily, and still recovering from your pneumonia then of course you will get better!

Please think more on this. Is it really a true test on vaping and your lung function?

^ That. I would like to know what type of pneumonia you have. It is bacterial, viral, stasis or aspiration? Or does your doctor even know? I will bet donuts to dollars that in one month your pneumonia will be cleared up regardless of whether you vape or not, and the doctor will now think vaping is the ticket. If that were the case, a LOT more of us would have a lot more cases of pneumonia and I just don't see that here in the forum. You have a focus group of thousands and thousands of people proving just the opposite is true since we don't see a lot of us with it.

The numbers simply do not support the hypothesis that vaping has a correlation to pneumonia. People will still get sick regardless of vaping, but vaping is the easiest to blame.

However, if vaping seems to exacerbate your symptoms, and since nicotine is absorbed through the mucous membranes, you can simply not inhale like many, many vapers do. Or change to flavorless and see if that helps alleviate any irritation that may might be causing symptoms.

Personally, I would find another doctor that has a bit more experience with the subject. You would be surprised at some of the doctors out there and the stupid things I have had to either NOT do that they order, or point out why their limited 10 minute visit didn't support their orders which would have crumped my patient. Or come on shift to have to fix stupid that some other nurse blindingly did. I have a LOT of stories on this subject. Doctors are human, they are not know-it-all gods. Nurses however, are angels ;)

Well, it seems I am going home early tomorrow well before this hits!

I sometimes think the weather service likes to get us all ready for "the big storm" just to change it later to "a dusting"!

Does not bother me. Once I am home tomorrow I can stay there till Monday afternoon!

I know this storm front is moving across the U.S. and many are seeing some bad weather.

... Winter Storm Watch in effect from late Thursday night through
late Friday night...

The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a Winter
Storm Watch... which is in effect from late Thursday night through
late Friday night.

* Locations... east central Indiana... southeast Indiana... Miami
Valley of Ohio and southwest Ohio.

* Hazard types... heavy snow... possibly mixing with sleet and
freezing rain at times.

* Accumulations... snow accumulation of 4 to 6 inches... along with
light ice accumulations.

* Timing... rain will transition to a wintry mix and then to snow
late Thursday night into Friday morning. Snow will then continue
into Friday evening.

* Impacts... hazardous travel conditions are expected due to
reduced visibilities and snow accumulations.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Remember... a Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for
significant snow... sleet... or ice accumulations that may impact
travel. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.

Yeah he is a new doctor for me (as is everything is here). I'm over my pneumonia and he never suggested it was from vaping. It's my condition of bronchitis which makes me susceptible to pneumonia. He is concern that vaping may be aggravating my bronchitis and feels it can't be helping.
The tests he wants me to take to see if there is any difference after abstaining from vaping is....how much air I can take into my lungs. This amount is compared with that of other people my age, height, and sex. Also how much air I can blow out of my lungs and how fast I can do it. Should there be no difference then I ain't quitting. :) If there is then I'd be stupid not to. He all for anything that stops people from smoking including vaping.

I know exactly what test you are taking, a PFT? Since you just recovered from a pneumonia, I bet your compliance increases in a month in any case.

You have to do what you feel is right, and I hope that includes selling me a stabilized when your test looks better in a month

ETA: bronchitis means an inflammation of the bronchi. Again, it can be caused by many things. And again, not a lot of people here are getting bronchitis from vaping or we would have heard of a ton of cases here at the forum. As I suggested earlier, you can always not inhale as many other vapors do. But if that isn't something you want to pursue, let me know how much to send for the stabilized :)

Do you inhale when you vape? sorry if i already asked before. the reason is because i had to stop inhaling my vapor.

I had severe asthma attacks and though i got better with vaping i was still having to use my inhalers daily until i completely stopped inhaling vapor. Now i only have to use my inhaler when people are burning fires around my neighborhood.

It could in my case be because i chain vape. I lowered my nic to 3mg but want to settle at 1mg.

I just read in another thread that

Mike, Gigdujour, came out of surgery fine and The Evil One has a gleam in her eye about his upcoming rehab torture sessions.

I just wanted to share in case anyone missed his post.

ETA: Damn, he came in and posted above me
