I texted cappy this morning...no response...I called a couple hours later, left a voicemail..no response...called again a while ago, left a voicemail...still no response......and he always calls me back right away if he doesn't pick up the phone right when I call.

I'm very very worried. The last time he called was last Sun. afternoon, this is not like him at all. I'm pretty sure you can use a cell phone either in the hospital or on the grounds, so I don't know if Carol is in the hospital and very near the end...or if cappy's in the hospital himself. I don't know what else to do...

Maybe a difficult time for him Kay, I would hang on till further notice :)

My oldest son once wanted to borrow them, ending up taking it to LA with him. That was like 5 years ago and hasn't bought any other brand of shoes since. Whenever he needs a new pair he calls me to find them online.

is there a cheap place to get them ?

For work - i buy hi-tec boots from Academy - they run me about $50 and i have never had a pair last me less than a year in daily use. Gel insoles and you're golden.

I walk all day at work and good shoes are vital for me - i try them on for at least 10 mins and walk all up and down the store - if they are tight or pinch or rub my heels - i move on. HRH has stopped going with me now whenever i have to buy some.

I'm a member of ebates.com and you get a discount buying through them (sometimes the store may run a double discount special). Stores include shoes.com, shoebuy.com, tons of stores on most anything. I see shoebuy has 14% off through ebates now. Joining ebates is free and every 3 mos or so they send you a check. I stick with shoe companies that have free ship for purchase/exchanges. To find the right color and size you need may need to search a lot. I also search for additional coupons online for each particular store so it can be rewarding. The shoe which I posted was about $160 here in honolulu about 8 years ago and about $110 when I first found them online so the price has come down since.

Waterproof Red Wings for me. Great for those dewey lawns and i get over 2 years out of a pair. Wicked lightweight too. Nunn Bush all terrain slip-ons for days off. RW00401_0113.jpg

Georgia Boots fan here. Yes, they are made in China but they are well disigned and hold up well. Back in the day when I worked as a chokersetter under a tower, American-made caulk-boots were a must at over $200 a pair but now that I've become an old fart, I don't need caulk boots and as an equipment operator--Georgia Boots have served me nicely. That said, I've never paid retail for a pair. I find them on close-out somewhere for half-price. They're good boots but not worth MSR price.

Shoebuy via ebates would have been same price but about an $8 check would have been mailed to you. Still excellent price though. Like I said I spent a lot more than that :)

edit: Dang yer quick!!! I was gonna suggest you find a Merrell B&M store and try'em on first
i been wanting something just like this for quite a while :)
