Sound advice.

If you don't want to go full on Primal, just figure out which foods that are high in protein and/or fiber, and low in carbs and fat, that you enjoy, and make them the major portion of every meal and snack. After a few days of focusing on lean protein, you'll most likely find your hunger pains and cravings between meals and snacks will subside substantially. Bread, potatoes, and rice are the enemy if you want to drop some weight by fine tuning your diet.

I've dropped 10lbs in the last 4 or 5 weeks just by cutting back on the carbs and upping my intake of protein. I really should be exercising and strength training, but I'm a lazy schmuck.

Fat is something our bodies need. When you cut carbs then we use fat as fuel. I use plenty real butter, eat high fat meats, use plenty of olive oil, and coconut oil. I have upped my intake of fat in the last couple of weeks. I had been eating lots of veggies, some fruit and not enough protein. Adding bacon to my daily meals has jump started more weight loss.

I did lots of reading and talking with people that know why Primal works so well for anyone.

If you miss white potatoes, rice, bread, and pasta, there are some great alternatives. I eat spaghetti squash, quinoa, sweet potatoes occasionally. I make pancakes with coconut or quinoa flour. Have also made tortillas with quinoa flour. They were great!

Stay away from that soy!!! It is evil! No soy beans, tofu, or soy milk products! I can't stress enough that it is bad.

Most lean protein options provide the dietary fat we need without going overboard on fat.

I didn't say "eat no fat or carbs."

I don't go overboard on fats. I just make sure I eat what my body requires to be healthy. With my way of eating fats are a good thing.

My blood test showed drops in all bad cholesterol levels and higher good ones. I know what works. Cutting fat by eating lean meats does not work on the Primal way of eating.

It is true that if you eat the typical American diet you should cut the fat back. But that and lean meats is not the optimal way to get a healthy body.

I agree, 100%. And for the record, I never put emphasis on lean meats. I've got yogurt, granola, and almonds on my desk right now. I'd trade them all for a nice slab of dead cow, though.

I love almonds! I make almond butter too. It goes good with celery, dates, and apples!

My daughter is buying a Black Angus cow next month and stocking their freezer. I am buying some of what she still has. Looking forward to grass fed beef, farm raised with no hormones! The Black Angus beef is so good! Can't wait to fill my freezer!

Good afternoon, REOloungers :)

Since switching to the Primal way of eating I have had great results. I did not do it to lose weight. But I did realize that I would. I have lost about 25lbs since January when I started. My daughter has lost 25lbs in three months.

My other daughter and her husband and 4 kids are Primal eaters also.

It makes so much difference when our bodies are fed healthy food that we were made to eat. I have also gone gluten/wheat free. All together I feel much better, and my body works better.

I had a blood test done in November. I just had one done this month. There were several changes for the better. I was heading towards diabetes, that has now changed.

I would urge anyone to look over the Primal way of eating. It really does work.

Hi Karen, Thanks for the Primal infolink.

Heads up....

I'm going back to Oldbroad....at my new decade age i think i deserve it, I just passed 1/2 a century and heading towards 3/4:laugh:

Have you already submitted the name? I changed mine twice and after a few days went and submitted a ticket to make the change quicker.

Better than I have in years :D Still surgery sore, but can not begin to express how worth it, it already is! I walked far enough today to be completely surrounded by woods....you know that makes me happy!

Did I read you are about to get a little down time?

That is good news indeed! I'm really excited for you.

Yes...a little...but most of that will be filled with updating our systems and working on getting things ready to break ground. Right now I've got Microsoft digging around in Wayne's computer. Seems he picked up a virus and its playing hell with our stuff. I should be lounging on the couch in my jammies.

Me too...lurkin' and likin' today. Talked myself out welcoming all the new REOnauts yesterday. :D Those porkies must be shucking mods overtime!

Off to read, have a great afternoon REOvil!

Lisa, I hope you get a jammie day soon!

Good Day Fine REO Folk. Upstairs having first, and only coffee, with new creamer Coffeemate sugar free Italian cream creamer. Used to use only heavy cow cream or half n half but realized a huge part of my IBS is lactose so limit that to ocassional treats (and pay for it - as ones gut ages some intolerances increase).

Jen, so thrilled for you. You walked a good piece as I know the immense forest is not immediately outside your door. Major congrats for your new freedom. So glad the ground is relatively flat, too.

Old Broad, loving that you have cardinals right out your windows. Just don't squeal too loudly and scare them away. (Our Kapers takes extreme delight in many things including birds.)

I sent 7 REOs and two RM2s (mill down) up to Maine and they arrived back yesterday, less than a week turn around!!!!!!!!! Amazing!!!!!!!! There was a bonus from Robert, too. Not going to announce or pictures in case it was a rare mistake. Probably not but want to make sure. Now the Woods can go up for button/switch upgrades on VVWs and some sex changes so the 801s can use RM2s. I'm debating about whether to have the original Woodys sex changed. Not going to do the pristine with numbers stamping on catchcup though as only 15 in that run. I may play around with adapter...... maybe. It's hard to go back to factory made throw away atty even if it's 801. Ask Mudflap.

Vaping some 2 yr old FSUSA White Wine I pulled out of cooler up here as I don't want to go downstairs yet. Not bad but not a strong flavor. It's 100% VG so much less TH compared to my usual 50/50s but enough.

Third and last funtioning pool sweep became unoperatinal last night (proprietary vacuum hose collapsed near sweep - had a spare but it collapsed too) going to try standard hose until I can get Troy out here to troubleshoot why Polaris pump is not coming on. The Polaris is brand new, unused for two years, but I normally only use it during heavy leaf falling during Dec., our "Fall," as it's proprietary pump uses too much electricity running 8 hrs a day. So this evening I'll be hand vacuuming while I swim individual Bubs. No more out of control Wildling Frenzies like other evening.

Well thoughts beaming out in all direction so anyone needing them grab some.

Hugs, Feisty Alice

About "fat" just about every excess calorie goes to fat stores. Some just faster than others especially simple sugars, simple carbohydrates, and most fats. Key word is "excess." Least sugars absorbed and least to cause insulin production (what the body uses to break down sugars) is alcohol sugars. Main downside of many of those is laxative affect so best used sparingly.

Wheat and its gluten, untill mid 20th century, was a healthy staple. Gluten sensitivity was rare. Mid Century virtually all wheat produced for the masses was/is hybrids that are less damaged by wind (shorter stalks) and drought and more resistant to insects, blights, molds, etc., and increased production per plot of land. They hit the world almost overnight without any testing as to how any animals' bodies respond to ingesting them on regular basis. Studies are being done but nothing conclusive enough yet. Lots of small studies being done with alarming implications. There are a few small farms around the world that produce the non hybrids but not enough produced to feed a village let alone the world. Good book to read is "Wheat Belly."

Karen, several decades ago we had a couple of books titled something like the "Caveman Diet." Makes a lot of sense if one believes in evolution as humanoids evolved for hundreds of thousands of years eating much differently than we do in past few centuries, for most foods. I say "believes in evolution" because, shockingly, more and more people, are moving to creationism, rejecting elvolution with the belief that the earth is only a few thousand years old. In other words "man" walked with dinosaurs.

It was a tough sell to convince me to give Primal a try. But having a daughter that was practicing and noticing such differences made me listen. It was not just her, it was her husband and kids too.

Wheat is just not the best thing for us. What it does, causes is damaging to our bodies. Our stomachs, and intestines are not made to digest wheat.

I feel the results. And so does every member of my family that is on Primal.

I have grandchildren with all kinds of allergies. One has celiac disease. I feel that as humans ate foods that were not good for their digestive systems they, over time, developed disorders and disease.

With your problems it sure would be a good test to try something that just might work.

Debbie- Congratulations! Luc is breathtaking!

Alice- Thanks for your recent wildling's stories. There has been a recent influx of poodle pups and rescues that almost had me thinking "just one more." (it is called puppy virus, incidentally it is running the course at the same time as the REOvirus.)

The antics of your pack reminds me that 3 is enough. Loveable Bubs.

Lisa-I love the schnauzers eyelashes. And Jasmine's ear & posture...such a cute little duo you have.
