Mornin REOville! Haven't been posting much because I've been mad at myself and haven't had much going on except for work. Work has been crazy, I've been working 11 - 6:30 the past 2 weeks so I can get enough files to meet my goals. Didn't think I would like it, but it actually isn't too bad. I've been mad at myself because I just couldn't get away from the cigs, until now. Haven't had a cigarette for two weeks today, Go Me!! Better late than never I guess. Someone from the REOfamily posted about Custard's Last Stand by Nicoticket a few weeks ago (was that Tim??), so I ordered some and I just can't seem to put it down! I went thru a 50ml bottle in 2 weeks, and since I always have 3 or 4 REOs loaded up with juice and very seldom need to refill a bottle in a day, that is saying something, it helped a lot, need to change my counter again.
Jen, so glad you are doing so well after your surgery, hope your appt today goes well. RHP, been liking a bunch of your posts, you haven't unfriended me have you??? Nice to see a post from Ed this morning, you must be really busy lately. Haven't seen Becky lately either, is she still staying with her sister?
Anyway, hope all are doing well, need to get to the grocery store before I start work today, have a good one!!!

Two weeks is great, Jeni! It's funny how something as simple as a new great juice, or a pretty new REO can keep a person going. I'm assuming Becky is still with her sister and yes it was nice finally hearing from Ed this morning. Also very nice to hear from you!!! I see your likes and assume you are just busy...but you are missed!
My doctor thing (more cortisone shots) got rescheduled for Monday. We were already in town because Mom also had an appointment to get blood drawn. I got the phone call to reschedule just as Mom and I were complaining about no coffee. Went straight across the street and got big convenient store cups.

The "Queen" is now exiting to go to hot tub, damn the lightening, and she'll envision being in Big Sur. Wish I had some "medicinal." (Gotta rewick and re-battery REO first, and give Jake his meds, and, and, and, and.... cabbage/chicken wontons heated in microwave when I come in..... not GF, but fresh cilantro, vinegar, soy dipping sauce {Val, frozen wontons from COSTCO}) Jen, we didn't get any wind strong enough for 11' umbrella to dance around at all. Only had about 100 lbs extra holding base down (plant watering buckets). Regular storm it takes about 500 lbs extra for it to not take flight when it's open. It's commercial, fiberglass so can handle just about anything if base is weighted down well enough and I have post screws tightened adequately. I've seen it lift out of base and hover before crashing across deck to railing. Pretty amazing. Fullish moon, but not visible through clouds. Really spectacular last night and early this morning. We were in Denver, for Jack's memorial, one of prime spots to observe, but cloudy and raining, for Super Moon. Damn the mosquito ground spraying. I doubt it will drift much in the air with so much rain. Bubs are all sleeping but will come out on deck to guard me.... resulting in very wet dogs in house.

Life is mostly good.

Wontons are not gluten free

ETA: neither is the soy sauce unless you are using your own special gluten free soy sauce.

Oh, I am so glad I didn't have coffee in my mouth!

Sorry
But if you are gluten free, you can't have any gluten or it negates the whole thing. I got glutened by eating something I thought was gluten free and the reaction was worse than before I even went gluten free! But if you are not sensitive, then it wouldn't matter as you wouldn't have a reaction, so why bother putting yourself through no pizza?

I would be very sad indeed if I couldn't have gluten. Good gluten free cakes are few and far between, and a royal pain! I think Alice has mentioned that she has slowly reintroduced small amount into her diet. I am so sorry that you are allergic.

Speaking of cakes...driving home today I finally followed a sign that I've been eyeballing for 3 years. Just a raggedy old sign that says live music on Thursday nights. Throughout the year it changes- Prime Rib Friday, Catfish Saturday...stuff like that. It is a little country oasis! Big deck on the back, cabins, woods and ponds. The entryway sign says they do weddings, receptions and catering. We are going to check it out next Thursday. I so hope it turns out to be a great place that wants to hire me pretty soon.

So if a spring on a REO Woodvil collapses, its toast right? Theres no repairing it or stretching it back out? You just gotta replace it and re-solder the wire right? And what resistance of the coil in the RM2 would cause it to collapse? Anything sub ohm? Or are we talking like .5 or lower? Still trying to learn about these things before mine arrives... Thanks REO Peeps!

At the shore...
Jeni is like a one-day multivitamin in REOlounge. :) I just wish we both had more time to shoot the breeze aout Lost. But I got mwdenko and Crazy C to fill that void, for now. Have a great weekend Jeni, you deserve it.

RHP

I, too, was a huge Lost fan -- I still have sooooooooooo many questions. Not enough hours to figure out that mess.

Once a spring collapses, it has fulfilled it's sole job in life. It must be replaced, you can't undo it. It collapses from a hard short not sub ohm. I use a fuse in mine.

Okay.. Good thing I bought an extra spring.. I tried to buy a few buy it only allows you to purchase 1 at a time. And has anyone re-soldered the wire on one before? Is it difficult? I know how to solder and I dont think it would be a problem, but im just curious.

Well the mailman will show up missing if he doesn't have it with him.. Just kidding folks. I don't condone violence unless you're employed by phillip morris, rj reynolds, then it's ok to go for the kneecaps

RHP

I cannot condone ANYONE, even my worst enemy, getting kneecapped. It is the worst thing ever, mine cost me my career, a boatload of pain when I walk, not to mention 4 surgeries. Break their arm instead, I broke mine before and that is a cakewalk ;)

My daughter put in a new spring on her Woodvil. She said it was very simple and easy.

Always check ohms on your RBA before installing on your REO. Shorts can be caused by faulty coil. They can also be caused by not being careful when you put on a atty or cartos, or even RBA. If you don't have it straight it can cause a short. Putting them on too tight can also cause the gasket in the connector to shift and cause a short.

Only tighten till you first feel it want to stop. Do NOT wrench it on!!!!

BTW, like your new avatar!

How do i go about checking the resistance of the coil before I put it on? I would assume if i just went from post to post with my multimeter on the ohm setting would work...

Also whats the lowest resistance I would want to go? I usually like my coils around 1.4-1.6, is that okay?

Thanks RHP. I have many special places in my "heart" for many REOpeeps, one being you. I'm usually pretty nonvunerable but I do suffer an occasional day(s) when I don't feel particularly loved or appreciated, anywhere, just as most people will admit to if they are honest with themselves. Last few days have been challenging. I was particularly taken aback by only two people noticing I had changed my ECF name; one publicly. I wondered if my presence was so insignificant that nobody noticed. There's still the little girl, so scorned by her older sister, who she idolized, who still doesn't give approval, deep within this worldly, seemingly invincible, tough warrior. Alice in Wonderland

(((hugs))) I am sorry i didn't spot your name change but i always look at avatars and sigs.I love reading what you write even if i don't always respond. Thanks for being my friend :)
