I have a several hundred dollar multimeter but it doesnt seem to wanna work on my batts properly... I use it for work and works fine for the power i use it on. its just never DC

Are the volt meter batts dead ? Are u on the right setting ? Typically on a better meter for these batts you'd want to be on dc 20

I have it on the proper scale and the proper setting I get a flash of a reading but not a solid state reading, and yes the polarity is correct, even not it would just show negative the voltage

Yep! Just checked my old Popular Science magazines. xD This one's expired, but they circulate fairly often.

I just got a new one, it reads voltage and amperes fine... been using it at work for a week now and i havent gotten miss readings on AC voltage, its been perfect.

i agree that the meter's batteries may be suspect. i have a hazy memory that battery health plays a larger role in measuring lower voltages compared to higher. that is, unless the meter accurately and stably reads ohms, in which case i would suspect the meter.

that said, a few bucks for another cheap meter is your best 2nd opinion

OMdoG!!!!!! Feisty just did the unthinkable!!!!! She left her REO in Home Depot!!!!!! A first in three years. What better excuse for a stop at Macaroni Grill for a couple of happy hour pomegranate martinis!! Rev just came in with a friend so we exchanged hugs and some "you look great"s. DH just called and he's happy for me to bring home most wonderful Capellini Pomodoro w roasted eggplant chunks. Remember, I'm not cooking for him anymore since I got my feelings hurt about his tomatoe attitude.
