 Laughing so hard right now. We just got a lovely pop up Summer shower, so I drug a few houseplants outside to get a drink and managed to get soaked myself. First post I read was this one.

Air conditioning feels much colder now that I am drenched.

What an excellent idea! When the rain starts up again (if I can catch it) I will take mine out also.

And RHP, hopefully I won't be in a wet T-shirt when I get back inside!

Alice - how did the chicken turn out? I have had great success with that recipe, but always marinate overnight.

Oh, and hello to all!

Oh, and hello to all!

It turned out GREAT!!!! I got started late marinating so it only got 4 hrs. Other half now in marinating sauce in freezer sub zero temp. I took the 6 lb chicken out of that freezer and "thawed" for two days in kitchen fridge. It was still so frozen I had trouble removing back and breast bone. Next time I'll start with non-frozen chicken and marinate overnight. My handy source for organic chickens is Costco :D and they are always huge. Think I need to pick up a couple 3 lb chickens at grocery, although not organic, to practice deboning without mutilating the dead bird.

The chopped strawberry/mango/orange juice with leeks, in packet, made a perfect garnish over chicken. Leeks could have cooked a little longer. (I've started keeping leeks well stocked and use them instead of scallions, shallots, mild onions, etc for most cooking and even white part, uncooked, chopped over salads and other dishes . Leeks, more popular and cheaper in Europe, are very under apprecisted in US kitchens. Had some white onions sprout major, in fridge. Although bulb was pretty useless the sprouts were great over salad; very mild and a bit different from green onions. May keep some sprouting as staple.)

Only major mistake I made was using such a huge, heavy rock to weigh down the iron skillet. It was very akward to handle especially at 500 degrees or so. My double layer, knit heat gloves weren't protective enough for such prolonged high heat removing the heavy rock. Next time smaller rocks and extra layer for heat. I didn't want to use any brick I had because not sure they are lead free.

Good to see you around.

BTW.... I got the grill temp to 500F (roughly) before putting chicken on. Before I knew it temp had risen to 600.

Another note on food and digestive issues. I've never thought I had lactose intolerance. I always have heavy cream in coffee and usually a glass of milk a day. Whole time I was in Denver my sometimes lifestyle challange IBS never raised it's ugly head. I even had hollandaise Sat morning, that always sends me rushing to bathroom, sometimes during meal. (Love Hollandaise so worth the reaction.) I DID NOT HAVE ANY DAIRY WHOLE TIME IN DENVER. Morning, after I got home, cream in coffee with cramping and dash to bathroom while having coffee. Past five days I've used coffemate and no dairy of any kind, other than cheeses, and my system is near normal. Austin trip, last week, no dairy other than lots of cheese. Again, GI system behaved. Back to non dairy "milks." Can't do much soy, though, as so sensitive to it it makes my breast ache. Want to try other cultured dairy products, one at a time, now that cow milk and cream have been eliminated. We will probably keep GF even though neither of us seem to have extreme sensitivity, but DH is also going to substitute coconut for cream, for a few weeks, to see if it helps him. He's truely OCD about keeping his weight below 180 (he was 6"2 until reaching 70's - he would have been even taller if not for scoliosis) so he'll for sure find the lowest carb "milk." We stopped consuming lots of rice milk when he became "low carb nazi" years ago.

Evening Reo-fam! Hope you all had a lovely Thursday. Took the day off from work. (I'm all caught up) and went for a long bike ride on the Farmington heritage trail which follows an old rail line. I love the posterity of riding on a trail that passenger trains rode on 200 years ago. Theres signs marking historical points of interest along the way also. Anyways got babybacks in the rotisserie with a mesquite dry rub on 'em. macaroni salad and homemade baked beans. Only gonna have a small portion as I'm in the dog house with my Fitness Pal app. She's still not talking to me....

My rant for the day is about the temperatures in doctor's offices, which you'd need to be a polar bear to survive! I work all day in 95+f of heat and 30 mins of 'hurry up and wait' in there leaves me with goosebumps.

As is customary they asked if i had a preference as to which freezing arm to hit for blood - usually i couldn't care less, but last time took 4 tries and failure on one and two on the other before they were finally satisfied.

"Yes i do"
"which one then??"

"the one you think you can hit with the fewest futile prior attempts!!"

I think grumpy cat was modelled on me. Anyway it's all rather academic, because the pills my doc prescribed, my insurance refuses to pay a penny towards and i'm not paying $202 a month for blood-pressure pills. She'll have to have another little think!

Got my desk organiser today for all my mods and tips and so on! Desk looks loads better, and i was rather pleased until i added up the cost of just the mods i have! Nice woody Ratman - i could make a little room for that!

Howdy Vash, RedhatPat here.

Aside from the same join date we share which is when my journey began, with friends like Drifter and Racehorse I will be interested in hearing your opinions on some things. Knowing Drifter it will probably be rebuildable related. He's such an enabler, too shame geography prevents him from making me completely obsessed with rba's until I know about it all. 'cause unless I got someone doing it for me, I take twice as long picking it up.

Now that's out of the way, may I be the first to welcome you to the lounge which is is the hottest spot in Reoville, the one's the kids look up to! The great thing about this enviornment is that newbies aren't really newbies, they're just new to Bottom feeders and the most time tested and supported of them are Reosmods!

T, My doctor had a three strikes and you're out frame of mind when it came to whether or not to prescribe blood pressure medication. He allowed the tests to result in high blood pressure for up to 3 visits, so effectively give you 3 tries to get it right (One test a month).

If you're not gonna lay that much coin on blood pressure meds (I don't blame you at these prices) then may I suggest HRH be reminded, maybe with a doctors note, to not pester you about your hobbies and financies so much

HRH stresses me the least ( i have her housetrained) - the odd thing is she tells her folks that too!

I only give a stuff about my BP when it hits some fabulous numbers! "well - it ought to be 120/80" says the quack! 'sure - if you're a 25 yr old Olympic athlete! (my best was a rather bleeding profusely 217/172 - i may be wrong on the last number)

"no - anyone can make that with lifestyle changes like diet and exercise and medication"

but the medication is $200 - i nearly had a heart attack right there and then!!

Anyway, i worry at 170/100 and the rest of the time i don't give a crap! Lifestyle changes! Lmao! i walk all day long - my legs are tired this week! I never eat fast food or oversalted stuff and HRH does not cook with that or butter ( not for cholesterol and other nonsense - just i hate the taste of the stuff!).

If i am brutally honest - i give them blood at all so they'll stop annoying me for a few months! But i could buy cigarettes for the cost of that medicine, so i don't give a toss how good it is!

Sometimes i need her nagging: you realise the last time you took an entire week off was 2010, when i was your girlfriend?
