i really wasn't going to mention it but HRH (who is a damn good cook) was looking at kitchen knives; you know - professional chef's knives. I think i saw the prices and went a weird pale shade of blue!

For that $ they had better be Samurai gear is all i have to say, because i well know i'll end up buying them.

you'll not run out of 100 ft! Most wicks are maybe 3-5 inches. That's over 240 wicks.

i make about 5 wicks a week (nm that now!) and i still have tons left.

Makes you laugh really when people talk about bans and stuff!

T

Well, right now due to inexperience, I'm thinking for every one I can use, there will probably be three I can't...LOL
Plus I'd like to experiment with different sizes/# of wraps.

because i am bored:

This chart is for A1 type of Kanthal wire per inch, other grades are different.

30 awg (Ω/in) 0.7 ohms
31 awg (Ω/in) 0.9 ohms
32 awg (Ω/in) 1.2 ohms
33 awg (Ω/in) 1.4 ohms
34 awg (Ω/in) 1.8 ohms
35 awg (Ω/in) 2.3 ohms
36 awg (Ω/in) 2.9 ohms

You will see it is possible to use various wire to end up with the same Ohms coil. All personal preference really.

i always use 32g because i am old and set in my ways!

The stuff i tire of can always be used as tripwire.

just saying.

T
LOL...
One of my problems...I can't decide on my wire gauge.
I tend to gravitate towards lower gauge...even when I was making jewelry. My friend would borrow a piece of my wire and say "Geez, how the heck do you wrap this?" I always found I could get coils more uniform with a lower gauge using a form. Hopefully that hobby will help with my RM2.

Wow...and the coil I'm using right now is 28g.
No wonder I had to change the wick out after 16 hrs...LOL

This is a great chart. Thanks for sharing.

I would recommend the 30 gauge. Its not so thick that its hard to manipulate but it has a low enough resistance that you can get a few wraps even on a lr coil. more wraps will tend to give you a better vape. I have some 32 gauge that I got when I picked up my first rebuildable and I find that its hard to get a good coil with it. mind you Im not using a vv and I like my coils at about 1.3 ohm's.
