The silica doesn't taste "burnt"?

No - it tastes fine and it makes the coil easy to adjust and burns off any of that nasty metallic taste you can get if you just use it straight from the reel. The entire point of silica to my mind is that it can be dry burned to clean the coils.

What i dislike about 'natural' wicks is that inability and the need to change them often - i just haven't the time or patience to do that daily or every other day.

Try a micro coil. I dare you both. You might be surprised how much easier it is to swap out a pinch of cotton than to dry burn your wick & coil clean.. just sayin. Not to mention the flavor... is spectacular.. just sayin ;)

As i have said in the past they are nice looking and work fine - for me for about a day. I find them easy to make, but then i find all wicks easy now i have been at this a while. They are no longer thrown across the room in fits of temper!

My holy grail is something that lasts for easily a week + and i can achieve that with silica or xc-116. The health concerns are immaterial; nonsense about silica is no different to cotton lung that weavers used to get 100 years ago - the cold facts are that everything you do is a calculated risk, and if you met my wife you'd realise even eating is!

I like SXD's work on those coils and the tutorial he made is fabulous - my issue has always been with the lifespan of cotton. I have used ss mesh and even wool/ss mesh hybrid wicks but the mesh alone is rather harsh TH and the hybrids have the same drawbacks as any other cotton wick - they have to always be saturated. There is no dodging this. One burnt hit and it's game over.

I recommend them as wicks for fast assembly and serial coil builders that make new ones just for fun, but no way do they vape like a close to sub Ohm coil - because the physics don't stack up - it's impossible.

Evening all! Natueal wicks bla! Once I tried a micro coil with cotton I have never looked back. I do a 7 wrap of 28 around a 18g needle. I think its about an ohm. For my vv ill do a 12 wrap of 32.

Anyone have an experience with an orion v1? Got a good deal on one but it arrived missing a leg.... wondering if thats why it was so cheap. .

In other news my woodie arrived! To avoid being flammed here it is!

"The design of the REO Grand is 2 years old and hasn't kept up with newer standards for conductivity in Mechanicals."

I am still rather stunned by the idiocy of that statement, but sadly rather inured to such nonsense as i puff away at my 1 Ohm rba. HRH is rubbing sauce into a bit of meat in such a seductive way that my chances of becoming vegetarian and only vaping onion and broccoli are zero.
