Thanks Lisa. My first real homemade onion soup.
BTW.. Lisa, you know about my extreme sensitivities to flavorants. Tongue, throat, lips swelling. Butterscotch, DIY or vendor purchase is the ONLY flavor I can count on to not cause reaction.
Hugs, Alice
DH just said, "very good soup Julia!"

I don't know anything for sure....but I do know after doing a nutrition journal when I was a child that I am allergic to Phenylalanine...the manufactured kind. You know, aspartame, Nutra-Sweet...those kinds. Could point to something else, but I've never seen any mention of any of these types being used as a sweetener.
Yep....mine isn't as severe, thankfully. Did you ever figure out which one? I was having more of that chest pain, you know...the kind you get when you have a severe cold or the flu. and some wheezing/coughing...but I wasn't sick. I tried the same juice several weeks apart, just to test the theory, and it happened again. So I just dumped it.
This eye thing has me stumped though. the only two things that have changed in my daily life is the store bought juice and dealing with fern dust.
Actually, my reaction to the sweetener back then was different, lots of seizures and loss of consciousness. No diet soda for this gal.![]()
The sweetener I have uses sucralose. I'd check to make sure, but I'm 2 states away at the moment
Master of Bassets...and not much else.
Good point, GigI'll shoot the store I got it from an email and see if they can tell me if they used or know what sweetener was used. I still doubt that is the cause, but always worth the check.
What are you doing on the left side? Traveling for work? For play?
That would kill me I think. I'm a Diet Coke addict. If I ever grow up and learn to tolerate coffee I might be able to wean myself off but I hear growing up is overrated
Master of Bassets...and not much else.

I'm an engineer for the railroad so travel is all I doBack and forth between Battle Creek, MI and Chicago. I think the Evil One and I get along so well because I'm usually not home long enough to fight
Master of Bassets...and not much else.
Headed off to bed.
So sad. I was gonna buy the Black Wrinkle 2.1 w/ Silver Vein door once the RM2 stock dropped... but I don't see it on the website anymore. I shot Rob an e-mail - I hope I can still pick up that combo!

Ya...it wasn't an enjoyable experience...really embarrassing. I missed a lot of school because of it one year. I was flown to Honolulu to see some specialists because what was happening to me was out of my doctor's league. They ran all kinds of tests and was able to determine I didn't have epilepsy. Turns out when Nutra Sweet came out, my mom went hog wild and bought everything she could with it because the commercials told her she would lose weight. My mom may have been a savant when it came to music, but she was so very gullible.Fast forward a few years...I was 17 living on my own in an apartment with a friend. She had a severe addiction to Diet Pepsi....1 full case per day. No joke. It was like living in purgatory....when I was low on cash and the only thing to drink in the house besides water was diet pepsi.

Ya...If you were low on cash, you probably could have returned her empties for a small fortuneI think I might have gone with the water over Diet Pepsi as well. That always tastes too sweet for me for some reason which is kind of weird because I've been vaping a LOT is dessert flavors to satisfy my sweet tooth while I'm dieting

...I could have made enough for a little more groceries with all the aluminum
DH and I have been doing artificial sweeteners forever. When saccharin became unavailable in US (hystera) my parents purcased it in Canada and shipped it to us. In past year DH has developed extreme GI reaction to aspartame. He can't have anything that contains it. Rules out most diet drinks. The Soda Stream diet concentrates don't use aspartame so that's what he uses.
