My one and only cat was allowed outside to terrorize the neighborhood the first 4-5 years of her life, then she was moved to the big city to a 7th floor apartment and didn't go outside for 6 years. Moved back to the country, let her outside and she was dead in less than three months.
Needless to say, I have mixed feelings about them going outside now.

There are plenty of cats next door, they roam during the day and go in at night. I've claimed one of them because I brought her home from the pound...but she isn't really mine, like my Suzie cat was.

ETA- Loli, my kittie was fine in a one bedroom apartment. I've even had all three big poodles live in an RV for a bit and we all survived.

Then the people are feeding the cat,s too much :D

Canadian cats don't have to worry about desert predators. If I let my cat out, it would be certain death. Just ask the neighbors who moved in with 3 cats. First time I saw the cats outside, I warned them that cats won't last long here. Guess how many cats they have now?

If the birds of prey don't get them, the coyotes will. That, my friend, is nature where I live. Cats are not high on the food chain here.

Aw, sad to lose pets :(

I am glad they can be kept indoors where it is safe.

There are Foxes and big Owls plus Eagles that live close by. I can see the eagles soaring around my place during their breeding season. People that move sometimes leave their cats and i think that is why the neighbors shoot them. I really don't know for sure i just heard it through the grapevine at the community center.

Hi everyone :)

Should i get a cat? It would have to stay indoors because my neighbors shoot cats. The problem is i live in an older mobile home it is 2 bedrooms but is only 12 ft wide. I do have an addition built on it is like a florida room. So is that big enough for a cat or 2? I do like cats and think they would be easier to take care of than chickens.

i just wonder if my home is too small... Are females better at being housecats?

Loli..if you want two cats, go for it! They're just fine even in really small houses. Heck..they don't know it's small! If you get them as babies and never let them out, they'll be fine, not trying to bust out.Tho they might try to slip out the door occasionally to follow you!
