I almost pulled the trigger on another grand today... If Robert had the one I wanted listed, it would have been a done deal. Then remembered that Christmas is coming and I really would like another wood, one of the small ones for lounging in the TV room. What the heck was I doing at the website again you ask? I don't know, I wander in there way too often to ogle and my fingers just get so itchy they need calamine lotion on a regular basis

So with the upcoming wood run, which woods are stronger?

Curly Oak and Cocobolo as Lisa said. Walnut is tough and amazingly light weight. Any of the burled and many of the figured are going to be more apt to split when dropped onto hard surfaces.

Don't be "fooled" by hardness rating of woods, though. Some of the really dense, hard woods, although they may not surface dent, are prone to splitting.

What do you guys think about Ebony. I have three rehomed but I've not subjected them to harsh environment that the others have endured.

I'm hoping Robert got his hands on some more Curly Oak. He was running low on it last year. It is the one of most unappreciated Woodvils but coming in after plain Walnut. I've been around antique Oak furniture since I was a child and it's my favorite wood for every day, real world use. I had never seen Curly Oak until CO Woodvils.

BTW, Good Day Fine REO Folk.

Ebony has a high rating in hardness as well. We have a couple, but haven't dropped them, so I can't say for sure if they're as tough as the curly oak and cocobolo.

Ebony and cocobolo both have seen some unnecessary roughness at my house. I have made a tiny dent in the corner of cocobolo, but the ebonies never showed any marks. Even the one I threw like a baseball across the room into the concrete floor (such a Spaz).
I remember running to it thinking it would be in a million fragments, but the REO was pristine. The drip tip and atty were goners though.

On second thought ebony was soft, scratched easy, smelled bad, had a rough, gritty feel. Horrible, yucky wood....you do not want your new wood to be Ebony.

Or Wenge, it is a nasty, ugly wood too.

That's what I hear.

Junk just plain and simple junk

Let's split all the one's that become available ... What do you say to that?

LOL :toast:

No...I don't use it often. Because I'm either bound to my desk or on the run...I prefer the 6ml bottle over the 3ml and the metal is able to handle me dropping it when entering or exiting my car. It is super comfy to hold and use though. The only downside is the 3ml bottle. I'm so lazy...

This particular mod is redwood...if I were to drop it, it would shatter.
I can handle refills, and the 18490 is big enough for my coil builds, so super comfy is the super bonus of the super mini (me thinks aloud)

And it came to pass....the reason I hate this day so much. Pages approved, proofed, plated and waiting in line for our turn on the presses.....I get the dreaded email from client that says...I don't like that photo. Need to add an arrow or use different photo.:grr::glare: Then she says shes sorry...didn't read her email all weekend, when I specifically told her the schedule and how it would all go down. Cost me $42 to get that damn page unlocked and removed so I could replace it. I'm nearly sick with stress, hoping I didn't miss my place in line....can't afford to lose days in the production. I think I need to go vomit.

And that is when I would say, "I am sorry, but you missed the deadline and it is already out for print. We will have to work out how next time we can ensure that everything is done perfectly for you before it goes to the printer."
