SO I just got off the phone with my mother for the first time in months. I was never the prodigal son... My mother basically just told me to enjoy my next deployment to Afghanistan, and that I am not welcome at the family Christmas.....


I believe that everybody deserves a second chance. I do not expect any sympathy for what I have experienced while down range... but to hear my own mother tell me that I am not welcome with the family....

I am going back to the suck in less than three months... I have more people worried about how they are going to refill their Brown Bomber than I have family worried about my safety.

My mother and I didn't get along and I didn't see her for years before she passed on as a very lonely old woman. Today I just try to be the best person I can be and really don't care much what anybody else thinks! Sorry to hear about your predicament but keep your head up man.

That is cold, man. Hate to say anything bad about a man's mother but......Hey, you have friends and family here. We are all proud of you for the sacrifice you've made and continue to make for your country. Back to the suck...My little brother's heard that before and I can't tell you how bad it did suck for me to say goodbye again. I can never fully understand what you guys go through, but I do know it's something I don't wish for anyone and only you men and women share. I wish you the speediest return and I know you'll keep your fellows moral high. Like you, my bro kept everyone around him laughing and that is the best any soldier could hope to have with him. My mom also didn't quite get the strange sense of humor that can be developed with anytime downrange. But I'm still friends w/several of his army buddies and they all agree, they wouldn't have made it without him. I know your that kind of a man. I feel proud just having some sense of community with you here. Mom's sometimes can never understand why the things us civilians find so important in life just fundamentally are not the same things you soldiers having been on the razor come back to something forever different. Thank you for you life long sacrifice. When you get settled don't forget to post you APO so we can send you care packages. My heart really goes out to you crazy azzMonkey

now, i'm stuck with this sig for a day or two or my other post won't make sense.

any suggestions for the next change??

Damn buddy sorry to hear about the family issues.Ive gone thru crazy family issues too man and like you said just keep being the best person you can for yourself .Thats what matters at the end of the day .
