My cardinals are back! Now I know winter's over! ( I thought they were Northern cardinals, but they flew the coop late last fall and just now showed up again. They must be "snowbird' cardinals:D)

They are delicious barbecued with a honey glaze and some small red potatoes. (Ya gotta eat about nine of 'em to fill ya up though.)

Good morning, Reonuts.

Good Monday Fine REO Folk. Hope all have an okay day. Here's pic of red grasshopper that flew in my car the other day as I was going out drive. I thought it was a red wasp, as I saw the red fly past, in peripheral vision, and heard the buzz. Stopped car to let it out as not fun getting stung while driving. Couldn't find it. Later found this in doggie bowl, in back of car, with water in it, the next day. It was still alive; enough I had to hold hand shut tightly to take it in house. In pic it has bottom of back leg missing.

This is a new one on me. I've been out here 26+ years and I've never seen a red grasshopper. Lawn company Foreman, Ernesto, has never seen one either.

"Fun" pool work. Steps down to equipment pad under deck. Only the filter is not under there. And I've cleaned the jungle somewhat off the steps.

Under deck. I have to squat and bend to get under pipes to vari flow pump. Where I have to bend over to to valves, basket, pump room from ground to bottom steel beams of 50". Tough on old back and knees. It's really creepy under deck even during daytime.

 I think it says something about good afternoon and purple monday, my family... But I've left much of my Hawaiian in my childhood memory. I can hardly understand a lick of it anymore. So I could be way off....he could be totally lobbing dirty invitations at you, Pietro. You have to admit...you are hansome.

Before hyper chlorinating after filling and sitting for a few days. Too cold and rainy to get out and work.

24 hours after hyper chlorinating.

But this is muck I couldn't get out prior to filling as sides of 10ft pit too steep and slick to navigate.

Yesterday, and starting to pull muck out. Can't vac to waste right now as so much stuff it clogs up the in-line big leaf canister in 30 seconds. So have to pull it out with commercial strength pole and leaf bag. I left a filled leaf bag sitting on far side of deck last night. When I went out a little while ago, a long tan snake fled from it into the weeds. It was fast and very smooth and tan. Thinking is is a young adult Yellow Belly Green Racer that hasn't turned emerald yet; probably about 30". As adults they are very shy but as juvies and newly hatched they are aggressive if challanged. Non-venomous. I've gotten enough bites from them I just don't mess with them bare handed any more if I mess with them at all. I'm pretty sure snake was feasting on the hundreds of rolly-pollys that were on outside of bag.

Top of pop-up shed is 7ft. Kaypers, lawn crew can't get started on the yards for over a week. We can get into house and out to deck without having to navigate through the jungle. Off to work on pool. Be well. Hold those you love (or hate right now, for my DH - I'm simmering down some) close in heart and mind. Hugs, Feisty Alice

Alice, did you ever consider that if you didn't spend all of your time cleaning out mud, pond scum, hopping over poisonous snakes, throwing rocks at packs of ravenous coyotes and bending under low-slung back porches you wouldn't need to soak in a hot tub to relieve sore muscles?

It's a rare occasion indeed that a 30 foot anaconda slithers up to my couch and tries to constrict me or a furry, carnivorous wild animal is found standing over me in anticipation of a delicious meal as I awaken from one of my numerous naps. Couches are a safe haven... your backyard is a training ground for Navy SEALs.

(Oh, look, my sofa cushion needs fluffing. POOF, POOF, POOF... there, that's better.)

;) My sore brain benefits as much from soaking as muscles and joints.

Navy Seals and Snake Handler training grounds for sure! (But I haven't encountered any Copperheads, Rattlesnakes, or Corals yet.) And this is the civilized part of property. I don't even attempt to hike through the wild part except in mid winter. Machetes bounce off of the briers and brambles. Surveyors hate working out this way. Too much tree cover for GPS and so much tough undergrowth it takes them days instead of hours to do a job. Just about any plots that are resurveyed they find major errors from the originals done in early 70's.Driving back to house or looking out any window or from deck tires me out just looking at it. Notice, I'm inside on computer, procrastinating.

Hugs, Feisty Alice
