That's one thing I can never understand about the British Trunker, it's as if they're ashamed of servicemen, & I fully applaud you American folk, for honouring your servicemen, not only the fallen, but the way you support the former, & active servicemen
My country could do with following your example
Frank

I blur the borders and geography. You and your clan will always have a home here with me in Amish Country if you're in the area. It'll take a helluva lot more than an ocean to separate us, brother.

The best thing to come out of all that was the War Powers Act that at least limited the power of the president to declare war without the support of Congress. I have a special dilemma - as English and American - i am worth double points to all Arabs! I keep clear of men with beards at all costs! Apart from Jack!

The politics is what starts wars and the sad fact is that all forces the world over are 'lions led by donkeys'.

The disgrace is that those that served are often treated as pariahs by the very people they were prepared to die for. That's inexcusable.

I count among my friends an ex-RAF pilot that moved to North Carolina, a few years after i came here, with his wife and daughter. We have been mates since college. He feels more valued here - is well paid in civilian life and that tells me everything i need to know.

Good morning, Reonuts and a blessed Memorial Day to you all.

On this Saturday morning past I attended the funeral service for my best friend's son, who passed away unexpectedly several months ago. (His father, Gerry, still remains in the hospital breathing on his own despite life support having been disconnected. Obviously Gerry was unable to attend the service.)

Aaron, a Navy veteran who served as a catapult officer aboard an aircraft carrier was interned, (his ashes) at Ft. Logan National Cemetery. The Navy provided a military honor guard which included a three volley rifle salute and a bugler to play Taps. Although I've rendered a hand salute at 23 police officer's funerals it was the first time in almost 40 years that I've had the opportunity to do so since I left the military. It certainly brought back some fond, and not so fond memories. (Military protocol allows for veterans to render a hand salute while either in or out of uniform during the playing of Taps. It was a moving service, one befitting a man who earned it.

After the service I made my way to another section of the cemetery and spent time in quite solitude at the grave of another man who earned the honor of being interned in a national cemetery. It's the only piece of earth that makes me cry. Perhaps I am just getting old and overly sentimental...

... or perhaps some of the things he taught me about life are starting to make sense.

Morning, REOnauts! Happy Memorial day to all, and thanks to everyone who has sacrificed for our freedom. We may not show it often enough, but it is appreciated by every citizen in their own way.

Sorry about the lack of a fact today, it's been a crazy weekend! I'll pick it back up tomorrow. I had to skip a bunch of pages, been away from the lounge all weekend and don't have time to catch up, what'd I miss?

Thanks buddy. My wife and I much appreciate your thoughtful words. We decided on only one child because his birth was exremely complicated for my petite and fragile wife. She often regrets that decsion and blames herself on days like this. I reminder her of the grandkids my son has left us and a call or even better yet a visit always make this day much less sad. :)
