I ordered my Vmod XL two days ago, still waiting for a shipping email. How long did you all wait before you saw a shipping notice?
Hello Viral......Funny you should ask...I received my atty order Monday, I received my shipping email Tuesday. I checked Vapage for giggles and my VMOD little brother showed shipped and my atty order still processing......LOL so how long did I wait....well I guess technically I never did wait however the shipping notice arrived a day after the shipment arrived....

So I have found that vapage silo cartos work the best for me and at the price they can't be beat imho. My question is this, the only liquid I have found to perform well and consistently is vapage liquid. Has anyone else has similar experience?

Sent from my DROID Pro using Tapatalk
I DIY at 50pg/50vg and all have worked well....good flavour and vapor ..... never used vapage liquid.

Warning: contains spoilers. And it's for the hard-cores, not the people who are relishing their first XL vapes. Got a slim package today, a high value envelope, $45 for two atomizers, the 1.5 ohm atomizers to end all atomizers. Went through all the prescribed blowing out, adding 6 drops of my 90% VG yummy Macaroon, listening for the dry crackle, adding a couple drops more, got the right crackle, then mounted it on my Provari at 3.7 volts, and vaped ... a whole lot of PG. Yuk. OK, that's fair, it's the primer. As I dripped and dragged and dripped and dragged the PG away, the flavor improved, and got darned good. Niiiice. Thick vapor, great taste. Time to mount it on an XL. And that's when things got dicey.

Dicey numero uno. The o-rings. Yah, that's the XL's Achilles heel. Getting the o-rings to sit right for a new atty test isn't easy. OK, finally got it.

It seems the .357 can draw air from below or from the side holes, so it's not like the IKV atties, where the inner o-ring has to be out, lest you get no air. Good. When I squirsh, I can see juice come up, lookin' good. Try vaping. It's acting flooded. Vaped and gurgled and tried to find the way to get the coil just wet enough but not flooded, and couldn't. Switched to the 2.2 ohm Hybrid UNI, and it was cloudilicious mondo vapo and easy to feed. Why was the .357 so good dripping and so so-so on the XL?

I think I see the problem. The .357 is optimized for dripping. It was modified recently to open the center tube so it could bottom feed. But from Mr. HH's comments it's clear that it's designed for long draws, so that "the pump" works. What pump? There's a chamber under the coil that gets filled from dripping say 6 drops. Then long drags pull juice up into the wick/coil. And, very important, excess juice easily seeps back down so the coil is wet but not flooded. In the XL, that whole mechanism already exists with the feed chamber, so now we're working with a double ante-chamber. The result is that it's very hard to feed it just right. The .357 is easily flooded, and juice doesnt seep back down as easily as when it's sitting on, say, a ProVari. It just kinda sits there. So it vapes wet, then vapes OK for a while, then when it runs dry, and you squirsh, you start over, and it goes flooded again. Meanwhile the vapor isn't great much of the time, being flooded.

There are, no-doubt, tricks to make it work better, maybe even very well (anyone?) (maybe as simple as taking the inner o-ring out?), but the initial impression is that it's not a match made in heaven, that dual chamber is gonna make it tricky. My one perfect 2.2 ohm Vapage Hybrid UNI runs circles around it, especially considering that at 1.5 ohms the battery starts dropping REAL fast, whereas the 2.2 ohm UNI vapes monster clouds twice as long on a charge. Even considering the need to take out the inner o-ring, and in the iO6 case, the need to find a thin-walled barrel/drip tip for it, the 1.8 ohm IKV atties work easier. And the simplest thing of all, just screwing a Boge 2 or "resurrector" carto in, well, that just plain works (for a few days anyway), or a plain Joye LR atty, and you don't need to go to Vmod U to figure out how to feed 'em.

So, yes, most atties, bridged or bridgeless, can be made to work, but there are going to be some that are a more natural match than others, and unfortunately it looks like the HH.357 is not one of the easy ones. :2c:

... and it's too bad, that .357 sure vapes like a train as a dripper, man oh man! Anybody figure out how to make it work as well on the XL?

I received my VMod XL 18650 today. I loaded the bottle up with Ms T's Snickerdoodle 14mg that has been AGED ("steeped" is the wrong word) for ~3 weeks so it is turning nice and orange.

My first impressions after a couple hours of vaping it with the included AMG Hybrid atomizer:

1. I don't like the button. You only need to press it about an 1/8" (I estimate) in order to activate it, but the design of the button allows you to continue pressing it another (what feels like) 1/4" down. I guess I was hoping for a button experience like the Provari, but this is an "all mechanical" mod, so my expectations were unreasonable.

2. I tasted plastic with the atty and carto that come with it. Not as bad as a Smokeymizer, but it is still present.
I'm 99.9% sure that the plastic taste comes from the squeeze bottle outgassing. I'm going to take my juice OUT of this bottle, wash the bottle and let it sit out for a couple days so it can finish out gassing. Then I'll try this thing again.
If you can't taste the plastic in your vape with a Smokeymizer, you'll probably think the VMod XL tastes just fine "out of the box".

I double-checked the squeeze bottle being the source of the outgassing by examining the second bottle that comes with it. I took the top off, gave it a sniff and got a nose full of dense plastic smell.

Vapage.com would be doing their customers a HUGE favor by airing out these squeeze bottles before shipping (or having the manufacturer do it first... although I'm sure someone in Shenzen, China would laugh at our American sensitivity to plastic outgassing... their whole city is massively polluted)

3. I'm glad I only paid $85 "on sale" for this. If I had paid the $120 regular price, I'd have been ....... It doesn't feel like a $120 device (weird button actuation) and if it had been $120, I'd have expected it to be ready-to-vape out of the box. At $85, I guess I'm still not pleased that I have to set the bottles out in the open to finish outgassing for a few days, but I'll deal with it.

Bottom line, outgassing plastics can be a HUGE health issue when you are doing something like allowing them to go into a solution (like an ejuice) and then be heated with an atomizer. If you doubt this is an issue, look at the lengths NASA goes to to reduce outgassing for materials headed to orbital environments occupied by humans.

I had a couple issues with mine yesterday and I prolly will in the future but it's a new mod. Gotta expect that. Every new rig I get gives me problems at first. It's always me not doing something right or a learning curve behind it in my case. Sorry to hear your not enjoying your XL as much as you hoped though.

As far as the bottles go and the XL go the instructions say to wash them before use. I cleaned them thoroughly and let them dry naturally for a couple hours. Shook to test for any moistness and done. No more plastic smell. Good to go.

I understand gassing is an issue to you but you prolly take more of a risk eating off a "clean" fork at a restaurant then opening a new bottle and cleaning it. Even if Vapage vented them I'd still clean it out.;) Nothing against them I just would.

Did you blow out the primer in the atties before vaping? Maybe even popping some VG in there to clear out any primer? It smelled like there was primer in mine so I cleared mine out before I put any good stuff in there. Correct me if I'm wrong anyone but they do come with Primer in them right?

Hope you can start diggin your XL in the long run. I freakin love mine!

*EDIT* Just tested it and My (little brother) Vmod fires before it's completley pressed down but my XL only fires when it IS completely pressed.
