I'm trying to decide what sort of atomizer(s) to get. I've never used one before so I went through this thread and tried to pull out all the references for what worked well. I might as well post the summary here. If it's too long someone just tell me and I'll delete it. Feel free to add more info if you want.

HH357
• sealed bottom HH.357 atty on the XL...feeds & performs perfectly!
• Many like the HH.357, but I find them to be severely overpriced.
• this thing rocks the HH357 now to order more 357's long barrel
• with the HH357 since last night didn't have to stop only 1 batt change no taking apart no fiddling no problems very nice.

Vapage
• The Vapage Hybrid 1.5ohm attys are very good.
• I ordered a 1.5ohm hybrid atty with it and I'm super impressed.
• After pulling out the pin, the hybrid BF (not slotted) atty feeds and vapes very well.
• Only tried it with a 1.5 Hybrid and it works like a champ.
• I just tried the 2.2 atty and it's pretty nice! Thought I would like the 1.5 better, but nope.
• I love it with the Vapage Hybrids & with Joye LR306's.
• There are two types of Hybrid Atomizers [on Vapage site?]: Bottom Feeder & Universal. The BF has feed slots at the base of the barrel & has a silver connector. The Uni has no feed slots & a gold connector. The BF works on both the standard & XL Vmods. The Universal is for the XL only.
• It ships with a 2.2ohm Universal Hybrid. I'm not seeing the Universals listed on the site though. They are basically the same...with the exception of the feed ports on the BF model. IMO they are both good.

306’s
• I am a big 306 fan...works well with any juice I've ever tried. Just a 1.5ohm Joye.
• Joye 510's & 306's [atties] work flawlessly.
• like crazy for a week with an LR306 for the most part.
• I like the Joye LR306 at 1.5ohms quite a bit.
• I'm using an LR306 & the new feed chamber is like having a bottom fed DCA.
• On the XL, it's the 306's that are just rockin' me world
• though the 306 bridgeless bauways works well with universal connector.

Joye
• Joye 510's & 306's [atties] work flawlessly.
• BUT I have found a new love for my Joye LR attys using the 18650 battery.
• On my Vmod SL I'm using Joye 1.8-2.2 ohm atties, they're great.
• I'm using LR Joye 510s and they're working awesomely. I get them in bulk from Vaporkings:
• ...and a SR Joye 510 atty. So far so great!
• ...and am using a SR510 atomizer. It is wonderful.

Silo Cartomizer
• I notice no one talking about the "silo" that comes installed... it's pretty darn good!
• I adore the Silo. That's what I've been primarily using all week and it's flawless on the 18650
• For x3x - the 2.8 silo is good with 5V!
• I like the silo's personally, I switch between them and my 306's.
• I really like the silos and I'm not even a cartomizer guy. To me, they are the closest taste to dripping without dripping. They also last a good long time and are extremely forgiving.

Ikenvape io6
• I've not tried the io6, but they get high marks from others. (on vmod?)
• the io6 with the black delrin tip DOES WORK! unfortunately the draw is wayy too stiff. if you loosen the catchcup part then put the cone on it works a little better but im not sure how well it would defend from leaks being that its soo loose now.
• LR 1.5 i06 is of course, killer vapes on the XL ! [some issues with screwing it down tight enough?]
• Ikenvape io6 w/ black delrin tip has too stiff a draw with the catch cup ring installed all the way. if i dont screw it down all the way it gives a little but worries me about leaking.

Ikenvape general
• I got a ikenvape 1.5 xlr in it with bobas bounty this is one the best tasting atty I've tried
• I am curently using ikenvape xlr 510 it has good flavor but doesn't hold much juice I'm only geting two pulls before I have to feed it again [all VG juice]

Boge Cartomizer
• I did try the Boge 2.0ohm carto. I'm not a carto master, but it seemed about the same to me.
• I did have to lower center pins on boge carto to work. its a little tighter draw but not bad.

Misc
• Dual Coil atomizers don't work....they fire, but don't feed
• all my 510 atties work great no problem! [didn't mention which]
• The dual coil plastic cartomizers wont work they are too fat.
• Triple coil cartos work, had to pull out center contact, tight draw on these.
• Tat drilled a hole in the side of a hollow 901 adapter & is using 901 attys in the XL.
• I couldn't get their bridgeless 510 to work with it, was too stiff of a draw,

Awesome post Spaz!
I am liking the 1.5 i06 on the XL and imagine all the LR 1.5 attys that fit will be great on it because you get a sure kick .... vape every time; make sure your atty has enough juice...
The 2.2 attys are great too, but i find them best when the batt is fresh. I found that chain vaping "like it was you last chance" puts stress on the batt and the vapes are not optimal unless you give it a little rest between pulls.
The IMR AW is made for the vlotage/watt LR attys draw, and although they don't last as long as protected Li ion batts, the hits with LR are consistent and worth the little trouble.
I'm getting at least a full day so far with the IMR AW and almost double that with the protected 18650's.
btw, the longer protected batts w/ flat top (2600 mah) do work.

I'm trying to decide what sort of atomizer(s) to get. I've never used one before so I went through this thread and tried to pull out all the references for what worked well. I just tried the atty that came with the XL. I put a few drops of juice in it and let it sit for 20 minutes or so. When I tried it out it tasted burnt. I tried a couple of puffs or 10 and it still tasted bad. I took it off and I'm going to let it sit longer. Should I have washed it out first or something? I think AG told me something about the atty earlier, but I don't remember. I'll have to look back and see.

Correction: it was redgirl and katdarling who explained that the atty might improve with soaking.

Oh, and I realized that I had an extra (?) o-ring wedged into the carto/atty connection. I think it was affecting the vape somewhat. I'm not sure what that o-ring was doing there. There was still one around the uh... cone thing and I couldn't figure out what this one was supposed to do so I just took it out. Better vapor now. :vapor:

are you talking abut the "silo" that was installed when it came (in my a la carte XL order)?
if so, it's a carto and needs more than a couple drops... you have to saturate the filler.
at any rate, because it's a closed feeding system, you can overfill the atty and blow from the top back into bottle.

No, the cartomizer that came with it tastes fine. I'm talking about the atty that came in the box.

Cant decide what battery to get. The AW IMR 18650 or the AW 18650 2900mAH protected 3.7v Built with LiNiCoO2 NNP cells. Both have great reviews but the rechargeable battery post recommends the AW IMR first and the protected battery third.

Im going to build my own SS wick atomizers and can have a possibility of a short circuit. SHould I go with the AW protected or the AW IMR.

Does the Vmod XL have a protected circuit?
