What are some good LiPo's? I just want to have a DNA20 would serve the purpose of the weekender for me, but because I just dropped my nic way down I vape a ton more than anyone should. I probably go through 3-4 tanks a day in my RSST and I drip in a sub-ohm as well. between the vamo and the mech I kill at least 3 18650's a day...

Start here and read, your question is exactly what we are trying to figure out....:)

I've been following since the beginning, and I do understand most of the battery fuss. 18650 battery mAh is an interesting number but going by the output graphs a lot of the quoted mAh can be after a mod's cutoff point, especially for use in a mechanical. Pulling ~5amps on a mech, I'm getting the same life from a Sony VTC4 as a Panny PF although the mAh ratings suggest differently. I'm just not quite ready to go LiPo yet so I'm trying find an appropriate 18650.

Mike are you going to wait for the DNA 30 before doing a co op on the DNA 20?

I am not even sure I will be able to get the DNA20 at all. They have been out of stock for months, and I do not know if Brandon intends to do another run of them or not. I emailed Brandon again today along with the Information Sheet he requested. I am waiting to hear back from him. I did ask about his "roadmap" moving forward. But in any event, yes I am waiting on the DNA30 (or at least a pricing announcement) to see how it all shakes out. I am assured it will be pretty soon.

I've been following the thread longer than I've been a member here. This is one of the threads that convinced me to join. So I'm sure I can fit just about any battery setup in my box because its just massive, but is it just not a good idea to run more than 2 batteries? Is it bad to run 3 batteries parallel? Even if I put enough batteries in parallel to achieve the capacity I'd need, wouldn't I need a different charging solution to make it reasonable?

I just ordered one here. DNA20D By Evolv

On the right side of the screen you can put yourself on the email list for when they come back in stock. They sell out fast but they do come back up for about a day or two at a time. You can also call them and they can tell you when they expect more. :D

You certainly could put more bats in parallel to get more mAh, the FT Bat Holder I used comes in 2,3, and 4 bat flavors.
For example: https://www.fasttech.com/p/1161300 or https://www.fasttech.com/products/1425/10002230/1161400

How many mAh do you need? I saw that you considering going the LiPo route. I just ordered this one:
Turnigy nano-tech A-SPEC 6000mah 1S 65~130C Hardcase Lipo Pack (US Warehouse)

But there is a lot of discussion going on right now as to which is best. If your box is big then you wont have the space limitations that some of us are dealing with. Look around on that site, they have even higher capacity bats if you need it. Just stay away from the "B Grade" stuff. From I have read any of the "A-Spec" bats would work great.

As for the charger, the standard USB chargers will still work fine, but I would get one of the 1 amp ones instead of the 500mA one offered by Evolv. Depending on how many bats you put in there it might take overnight to charge.

Now I have to write Shapeways. First I need to confirm that I ordered three of these, just in different colors. Although I am pretty sure I did.

What they sent me was two in this design, and one that appears to be the deep wall (for wood mods) design.

Notice the black one is deeper walled, no dado, and no third wall stop.

These holders...the ones that the screen slides in to the stop....is there a link to were I could get a couple? the ones on the first page of the tread don't look like it has the stop....sorry if its been posted already so far I made it to page 50

OK, I sat on this page long enough that they offered to sell it for $17 Turnigy nano-tech 5000mah 1S2P 50~100C Hardcase Lipo Pack (ROAR APPROVED). It's tempting, and I have a Groove board waiting for a battery. I don't have a LiPo charger, I'm hoping the Groove board can handle it. While waiting for a DNA to show up, it's all I've got to play with so I might get my feet wet with this if it will work. The LiPo packs are pictured with connectors/wires, are they included? Sorry for the stupid question, I haven't messed with RC stuff in 20 years and never used anything like these if they even existed.

The wires are included and the Groove board will charge overnight.:)

I called them the other day, they said they'd have some in a week. Once you get word Mike, let me know some info about the co op. I'm in the process of getting verified.

I have just enough clearance in my box to stack 2 of those LiPo's... 12,000mah should be right around what I'm shooting for. Do I need to worry about the parallel LiPo packs draining evenly or anything like that?

I know there is a concept called "balancing" as the packs wont necessarily charge/discharge evenly. But if I understand it correctly that is only an issue when you hook these guys up in series, and is not necessary when hooking them up in parallel as you would be doing.

That particular design was something Bap did as a special request for me. He took the item back off of Shapeways until I test it for fit and practicality etc. I am in the middle of building a Mod right now where I will be using one of them. I havent glued it in yet but it dry fits perfectly.

In any event, it will be up to Bap if/when he makes that design publicly available.

Mike I totally spaced this off :D....Remind me of what changes you thought could be made....The only thing I remember is a little larger area on the stop end cutout.
