I also received the Aqua. You guys make me order things I do not really need.. I was looking forward to doing a double vertical on the Raptor. The FT Aqua did not impress me. One knurled nut and one knurled screw on the posts.??? Neither very sturdy for thick wire double coils, so I just used the neg stud unscrewed at the base to hold the neg coil wires.. The single piece chimney is a PITA to pack the hemp fiber in. I did a .85 ohm double vertical. It works but would not recommend the Aqua.

?@Bap or anyone who knows.

MVP uses two 2200 mAh lipos in series, so I assume the charger in it is a balancing charger? It has three wires coming out of it.

Innokin itaste MVP issue - YouTube

If true these would be good for mods like the Raptor that use batteries in series. Wonder if anyone sells these mini balancing chargers.

Hmm...I didn't realize that the batts were in series

I wonder if you could use two single cell charging boards, share the input and charge each cell individually thru the balance connector???

these fellas crack open to get them smaller, or they sealed up...

And the results are in:
W/ShellNaked!% Saved
Tall68.5mm60mm-12.4%
Wide46.5mm42.5mm-8.6%
Thick31.8mm27.5mm-13.5%

Overall space savings of over 30%, pretty respectable!

(Could probably shave another 4mm off the length by removing the barrel connectors on top.)

Each pack consisted of 3 parallel 1900mAh cells for a total of 5700mAh.
I got two 5700mAh bats, rated at 140 Amps continuous discharge, for $16 each including shipping!

why is the case marked 2c 7.4v?

2 cells of 3.7v hooked up in series equals 7.4v.

1 of these cells is all we need in or application.

Edit: They were marketed as "Saddle Packs" for 7.4v applications that benefited from the weight distribution of two packs versus one large one.

But it is thicker!

Is there any play with the thickness, if I have looked ay the numbers right. A hammond 1590 b is 30.99mm high 2.04mm thick. That leaves 26.93mm

At 27.5mm thick, think it can lose anything to be able to fit? Or just get a bigger box, it'd be a mean fit.

I'm confused, first you said

and the pic shows 3 cells, 1,900mah each. 3x 1,900=5700, but also 3x 3.7 would be 11.1v, but the pic shows the case marked as 2c 7.4v and you say there 7.4v saddle packs. are they 2 cell or 3 cell? but if there 2 cell then there not 5700mah there 3800mah... now my head hurts trying to figure this out :)

I'm confused......

Yes, I can see the confusion. I used the term "cell" interchangeably because I didnt know what else to call it.

The manufacturer is calling each of the blue hardcases a cell on the sticker. Really I would call them a "pack", but that could be out of ignorance.

The "Saddle Pack" consists of two "5700mAh 3.7v packs" designed to be hooked up in series to achieve 7.4v.

Each pack consists of three 1900mAh 3.7v cells hooked up in parallel.

When identical batteries are hooked in parallel the voltage stays the same but the current is additive.
When identical batteries are hooked in series the current stays the same but the voltage is additive.

We can use a single "3.7v pack" to supply a DNA.

According to the Hammond prints (see Section B-B) the "inner box height" is 27mm. I am not sure if a 1/2 mm can be squeezed out of it or not. I did not squeeze the caliper at all when I measured it, I just barely touched the surfaces.

They used hot glue to glue the three packs together, and one of those glue joints is overly thick, might could squeeze it out there.

I have a couple 1590Bs laying around, I will try it in one and see if it fits. First I need to deal with those barrel connectors though as right now I believe they would short out against the case, they werent soldered on very straight.

You know, the more i think about it the less this sounds like a good idea to me. These LiPo bats can swell a little under normal use, and with age. Lets assume you could shave off that 1/2mm. If you have a zero clearance snug fit to begin with, and the cells swell, wheres that pressure going to go? The 2mm thick aluminum enclosure is not likely to give much.

At least, I dont think I would sandwich a bat in that tight in one of my own builds anyway!

Lovely! I wasn't sure all that would fit in a "G" box.

What button are you using for the power switch? I was hoping to get one from Amazon, but many don't list the force/push power ("N" rating), I don't want anything too hard.

I ordered this last night for use in a plastic Hammond box and Groove board :
Amico Stainless Steel Momentary Push Button Switch Black 16mm Threaded Dia SPST ON/OFF - Amazon.com

I've had my eyes on these three:
Amico DC 36V 2A OFF-(ON) NO 12mm Metal Round Momentary Push Button Switch Non Lock - Amazon.com
Amico 16mm High Round High Round Momentary Metal Push Button Switch - Amazon.com
Amico AC 250V 3A NO 16mm Metal Momentary Round Push Button Switch N.O. Normally Open - Amazon.com
