A lot has to do with how you are planning on vaping it. If your going to tootle puff it then you will go higher on the percentage of flavoring. For mod Womping, go lower.
For a decent RY4 type of vape to use in a Mod Womping application I would mix it at %5 tobacco, %2 Caramel and no sweetner. With you getting RY4D I would mix up a 10 ml batch by itself at %5 and taste it, then add Caramel to the mix. For a creamy RY4 I also like to add Bav Cream and Sweet Cream.

Awesome, thanks for the tips.

I use a max of 10% total on flavorings and thats only if it has many flavors. No single flavor is ever more then 5% and most are 1-2%.

Like stated above thats for wompin. For tootling at least double everything. I have a batch of high nic stuff I made where I doubled the flavors for a tootle tank and its still very faint. I can see why tootle puffers are generally in the 25-30% range.

Somethings shake and vape so your in.

Some ain't that great but afew days/week later they are wonderful.

Some are good after a week but then you make a big bottle they turn into something not of this Earth.

Make test batches at least 30ml so you can use it abit before making more.

Its a slow process. Small batch found good after a week. Make a bigger batch and wait a week. If its to be the new "thing" start making as many bottles as you use during the steep period. I use a 3 bottle system. Ones "hot", ones steeping and ones in use. 120ml at a whack.

If you make in 100ml batchs all the math is done for you. 6mg nic would be 6ml of 100. 5% flavor would be 5ml. And so on.

Get more bottles. It doesn't matter how many you have its not enough. You'll give some away and the bottle will never come back. Do this enough times and its real money.

Get styringes at Tractor Supply. Get a bunch, they don't last long. Don't put your daughter clear nail polish over the numbers like they say to. One day you will notice its flaking off and you will wonder where it went. Then it will hit you.............

I usually get mine on amazon, 10pks for good prices. but I always put clear tape over the syringe markings; works great to keep them readable until they wear out. But don't try to "adjust" the tape once it's partically stuck -- it'll pull the marking right off. :D

So still thinking I may get a SX next week. But what tank to get just for it.

Two actually. One TC one regular.

For TC I like store bought coils so kinda thinking Starre Pro.

For RTA maybe a Chutulu V2. Or a high end modern style tank but I don't know of any. High airflow 200 dollar tank. Does it exsist?? A Kayfun for people who don't have the lungs left to suck a milkshake through a coffee stirrer.

Well, what do you want? DIY that's like "DIY beer", or GOOD DIY ejuice, for a tiny fraction of what you'd pay for the same quantity of not-as-good bought juice?

View attachment 490864

There's the pricing at bullcityvapor.com. Obviously NOT a "big upfront investment." So now you have a recipe, you have the prices, which as you can clearly see, aren't much. Do you want to keep paying thru the nose for juice that isn't as good, and whining about it? Or do you want to make single-ingredient DIY, and whining about it? Or do you want to make GOOD ejuice (that doesn't need any steeping!), and save money?

ETA: in the pricing-out on the full recipe, including the nicotine AND WTA, and the PG/VG, it comes to .11 per ml. Without WTA, it's less than 10 cents per ml.
If you buy 4oz flavor bottles from TFA, a gallon of PG and VG for $25/gal (Bulk Apothacary for a single gallon, Essential Depot for a two gallon set), and a $50 liter of 100mg Nic from MYFreedomSmokes or others, then your cost per ml goes down to about 3.5 cents for 30% High Flavor Mixes. That's when juice gets really cheap. The up front investment is high but paying $0.35 - $1.00 per 15ml bottle of commercial juice adds up quick too, depending on how much you vape.

That's not what he wanted to hear :) but that is the economics of DIY juice. The problem with buying 8-10ml bottles of flavoring is that you are endlessly running out of the primary flavors, or some minor flavor and have to deal with paying $5-7 or whatever for shipping to get that one flavor you really need. Don't ask how I know that :). So I bought 4 oz of all the flavors in my ADVs. Plus some others.

Sample sizes are good for just that- sampling. When I find something I am going to use again, I rebuy an ounce minimum the next time, if it won't be an ADV for me. That strategy has worked for me, YMMV on that.

Yeah, my 10 or 11 cents per ml is mostly based on 30ml bottles of flavor; the only one I've bought in 120ml size is the sweetener, so far, and the shisha strawberry in 100ml, mainly due to storage concerns -- plenty of room for 30 ml bottles, not so much for bigger bottles, and then I'd have to pour the flavors into glass bottles, etc... right now, the 30ml sizes are what I use for most of my flavors, and I can get thru them fast enough that I don't need to worry about the plastic.

I always buy my nicotine in 120ml sizes, just $10 at VapersTek, and then pour it into 30ml glass bottles for freezer storage. Again, because of storage concerns of lg vs small bottles -- the 30ml bottles fit perfectly in the boxes they were shipped in, 12 to a box, stacked boxes.

PG/VG I buy from Amazon in 16oz bottles for $3.95 each.

I am no master mixer nor will I ever claim to be, but I do know my way around a mix, sorta :) A few pointers I can give for anyone wanting to mix.

Spend time on the ECF DIY section. A wealth of information and tons of outstanding people that are more than happy to help. READ THE STICKIES!
Get a decent scale and mix by weight. Especially if your older and have a hard time seeing those itty bitty graduate lines in the mixing cylinder. Trust me on this! Ebay search for a LB-501. Thats the scale that was recommended to me and its an outstanding DIY scale. The money you will save from not having to buy graduated cylinders, syringes and all will pay for the scale plus mixing by weight cuts your clean-up to a tenth of what it was.
Get three 3" pipettes and one 50ml pourable cup. Thats all you will need for DIY by weight beside the scale.

Dont let 100mg nicotine intimidate you. It makes DIY cheaper and easier. Buy it in PG base, even if your planning on mixing max VG. Look at it like this. You want a max VG juice for your dripper. You drip 3mg nicotine and have %5 flavor in your mix. You still have 92VG/8PG mixture. PG nicotine is thinner and allows smaller drops into your mixture enabling you to hit your target weight easier.

Buy larger bottles of Caramel, Baverian Cream, Vanilla, Sweet Cream to begin with. You will use these four flavors a lot. Also Vanilla Custard in a 4ml bottle would be wise.

Pick up at least 50 10 ml bottles. You will use them a lot mixing samples. When you use them mark them with a permanent marker. A little VG takes it right off when you go to clean the bottles. When you do clean the bottle make sure they are %100 dry, including the caps before puting them away in a zip lock bag. nothing blows more than getting geared up to do a bunch of sample mixes to find your sample bottles have black mold on them :(

Keep a journal!!!!! Write down everything you do with mixing. Samples, larges batches, test batches. Mark down everything to include what you used, brand you used and most importantly how it came out after a week, after a couple weeks. So many times people made an awsome juice, the best known to man kind and they cant remember what they did. MARK IT DOWN RELIGIOUSLY!

If you tootle puff your mixtures can be as high as %25 to %30 flavor. If you drip or use high wattage then your mixtures will be %5 to %7 normally, seldom over %10. Wattage unlocks flavor. You dont need as much for higher wattages.

Dont be afraid to experiment!!!

These are just some of the things I learned in the last year. Hope it helps some of yall. :D

Boy that does look good.

For that kinda coin I think I'd wanna run it through a clone first. When I Goggled it a huge ECF thread came up.

Little gun shy about low airflow. I just gave away all my K4's and most of my Taifun's (these actually aren't bad) and my Russian and KFL are going next (after some Dremel work confirms them to be unusable).

Better check the classies first.....................

Hmm Im a 20w or so womper and I still make my juices with Like 20-30% flavoring depending on the recipe. The strawberry 'bubbleburst' Im vaping right now has 12% TFA Strawberry in it on top of Sweet Cream, Vanilla Swirl, Bubble Gum and Sweet and Tart all mixed in. When I moved beyond my Kayfun armada into dripping, my wattage immediately went up and I honestly just kept the recipes exactly they way they were, if anything the flavoring was finally consistent and in your face for once. I never knew they tasted THAT good until I upped the power and started dripping em. Im with Andria, the $10 bottles of 'Throat Hit' nic from Vapers Tek are the way to go. I dont even notice any added harshness or 'throat hit' unless I happen to have a coil up too high in my RDAs. Its pretty smooth, it makes me wonder if their regular $40 nic is like completely transparent. I think it was Vaper Tek's site (might have been Nude Nicotine) where I read that for storage its better to buy your nic with a PG base as opposed to VG. VG does funny things in the freezer, and there was something else that wasnt ideal for long term storage but I cant remember at the moment, Ill see if I can dig it up.

Oh and about keeping a journal and writing mixes down. Grab the E-juice me up calculator! That thing rules and is a life saver! I havent been to the thread in awhile but somewhere in the TFA recipes thread, someone created a Dropbox account that is FULL of recipes you can load up in the calculator and start going at it. Alot of em were collected from Bills Magic Vapors posts in the thread (which is like a billion pages long now) but people keep adding to the collection as well. I gotta go dig through em now and see if theres an RY4 recipe in there. Im pretty sure Bill has mentioned one before, and I really wanna try a good one now. Last time I had a free sample from Nude it was soooooooo good.
