The only thing good out of the whole ordeal is I quit smoking. I went in for the abdominal hernia surgery last november and they ended up slicing and dicing my intestines, missing it and sending me home where I went septic. Eight surgeries later and 45 days in the hospital, I am finally well enough to return to work.

yeah, I've had several major surgeries and every doc told me that smoking would slow healing... yet none of them insisted I quit. They just politely nudged. I smoked up until parking the car at the hospital. And I healed just fine from all of the surgeries. I did get a nasty hospital-acquired infection from the last one, but that had nothing to do with smoking.

I understood the docs reasonings. This was the 4th time in 12 years that the same hernia was repaired and coughing harms the repair. A 3 pack a day smoker does have coughing fits a lot and I have felt previous repairs fail from those coughing fits, so I couldnt argue with his reasonings of why I had to quit smoking before he would operate.

Yikes! Yeah I can see how coughing after hernia surgery could be bad - really bad. I've had 3 abdominal surgeries, and did my best to not cough while recovering - impossible, but I did the best I could, and did those little fake-sounding coughs in my attempt to minimize the risk potentially ripping something open.

You can get DIY surgery kits online. somewhere I am sure.... Well almost sure....

I tried that once. For everything prepped, put myself under, woke up and everything was the same. I it was cheap, but I will not go back to that Dr. Don't think he even did anything.

I think it was due to him trying to hold three different pieces of equipment, at once, on camera. He's not usually so shaky

One can get a little shaky especially when working with small/micro sized items but this guy had more shake than a McDonalds!
