I can tell you by the population growth the people you find off putting are most likely form NY.

Very few English speaking people "from Florida" are actually from Florida.

I remember back in school it was always what part of NY are you from never how many generations back to you go in Florida planter society.

I go looking for the Florida I remember as a boy and its perfect. When I stay in the larger metros its NY with plam trees.

Definitely on the East coast, Miami, and Ft Lauderdale as an example. Here on the West coast more people from mid west, New England and Ontario. More homes then tall condo's.

I found that people in NYC tend to communicate in an argumentative manner.
A result of putting too many people in an area?
One of my favorite things to do in NYC is randomly start a polite conversation with someone, " Nice weather, how are you today" the confused looks are priceless. :)

`Lotta folks took the Dixie Highway for sure.

But I'm a Tampa Metro boy and its full of NYers as well.

Prolly more Yankee fans in St. Pete then the Bronx.

That's true. I'm a couple of hours south in Cape Coral. There seems to be more NY plates around the last cople of years so maybe we'll make this a good place after all!! ;)

Your right. I guess I was lucky enough to be in the right places at the right times. With that being said it's not to say it was easy. I worked 3 jobs at one point 7 days a week with 1 full time and 2 part time for over 5 years. I missed out on a lot of things that I couldn't do because I was working. Yes I worked for NYC so I was able to retire after 20 years but it is not the only thing I live on. My plan was to sacrifice some of my younger years to retire early. Of course there were and still are no guarantees that I will live a long wonderful life but as it stands now I'm happy with the results so far. Family is taken care should I go and more investments still to come to fruition. So yea I know, but it wasn't a cake walk for sure.

Yup that's what annoys me with my friends, they think, look at him, he is so lucky, then you get the jealously, then the remarks but what they don't know is I worked 19 hours a day, for 5 days of that I slept on the floor in my office, this was for 13 years solid while all my friends were out partying, I sacrificed a lot when I was younger to enjoy now. I built my company up from nothing, neglected my family, missed valuable time with my children that I can never get back.
I sold my company last year and now I am enjoying the benefits, folks can call me a big head, a show off or whatever they want, I've earned the right to enjoy myself because of the decisions I made and the hard work I put in.

Used to have to go to NYC a lot on business trips.
Strange thing once they find out you are from Eastern KY they back off. They seem to think we all carry guns and knives and feud and such. I thought it pretty funny.

Totally agree Rixsta. It hurt every time my son asked my wife "How come Daddy can't come with us?He's always working!" He couldn't understand at the time what I was trying to do but now that he's 27 and working 2 jobs I think he's getting the idea! ;)

Maybe because I would walk around alone and not paired off with another guy? This was in the 80's. It seemed to amaze the people I met.

70's thru early 90's was a nasty time in the city. Crime was rampant and the place was a mess.

I rarely get down to Greenich Village anymore. In fact I hadn't been in many years.

It used to be a real freak show.

My wife had never been so I took her a couple months ago.

The rest of the world has gotten so weird that the Village actually seems kinda normal.

But I've always been always been a live and let live guy so nothing really bothers me unless it directly effects me. I could see millions of guys holding hands everyday for years and still never think of holding a guys hand. If I was on the fence.....................

Totally kewl by me.

I went to trade school cause thats where they used to send the dumb kids (I don't know what they do nowdays). Finished that and just kept to milking cows til the bottom fell outta that line of work. By then I had crawled inside a bottle and pulled the cork in away way.

Years later with a push from the legal system I crawled out of the bottle in my 30's with my health shot and ZERO skills in a modern world. So I did what I could, got a job a trained monkey could do and work basically all the time. Live in a house crackheads turn there noses up at and drive a truck older then most people alive.

But I have some serious vape crap!!!

And I don't smoke anymore!!

Which means I'm gonna have to work even longer then I expected. Wait, I'm not exactly selling this vape stuff ATM am I?

Yup the Village, Times Square, and Alphabet City were freak shows for sure! My wife is from Montreal and moved in with me in 1984. She really went through culture shock when I brought her into the city although she Loved Canal Street!

Balh!!

You can't even buy a knock off Gucci bag without hiding in a alley these days.

Nice vape shops though.

Even Port Authority is like Disney World these days.

Yea they cracked down a lot on the copy cat stuff. The Port Authority was a place you used to run through to get out in one piece!

hahaha, I admire you to say it how it is, although, you shouldn't put yourself down so much, I doubt your dumb.

Let me say though just because I was successful doesn't mean I'm really clever or anything, I had a lot of luck, I was in the right place at the right time and it just worked out for me, it could of so easily gone the other way.. I left school with nothing, not a single grade, in fact my maths exam paper was marked in big red letters, UNGRADED LOL

I too made bad choices when younger and was having too much fun...

Now I am unemployed since Dec 18th, the owner of the small business where I worked for 16 years decided he had enough and was time too scale way back. He was starting to have a hard time making payroll etc, so it is time to move along. I will collect a little Unemployment Insurance that I paid into forever and get some family matters looked after.

My mother had passed away in September, my Father had been living basically in a hospital bed for months, waiting to get into a nursing home and thankfully that is in place now. Obtaining a Power of Attorney for my father and dealing with the insurance/pension people is a world of fun on its own. He did serve in the Canadian Military so the Department of Veterans Affairs had been extremely helpful in assisting me with looking after his affairs.

Now I need to clean out their apartment, put things in storage and sell off the rest. There are documents and papers in many locations that need to be checked out and dealt with or shredded. As an only child it can be a little overwhelming at times.

After all that, I get to try and enter the workforce again by seeking out a job that hopefully doesn't have me greeting people at the local Wal*Mart... :w00t:

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss and of your father and job, life has a way of throwing one thing after another at us, it can be so cruel at times but stay strong and I'm sure better times will come..

Also sorry to hear this Troll . I know what your going through with your Dad. My Father passed 3 years ago and lived on the East coast of Florida which was a 2 1/2 hour drive for me. He was in and out of the Hospital. He never filed for his military pension so I had to take care of that as well. He took a turn for the worst and it was taking it's toll on me constantly driving there and back daily. I had him moved here and got to spend everyday with him the last 3 months. It's never easy for sure. I wish you well and will pray for you and your father
