Wrap a thick rubber band around the part you're going to put the pliers on. I do that with chromed plumbing parts all the time. I save the bands that I get from the asparagus and broccoli bundles at the grocery store for just that purpose. Tricks of the trade(s) and a lot cheaper than 'specialty' pliers. ;)

Ok... but how do I know what my "preferred temp" is? I currently vape somewhere between 8 and 10 watts, at the moment on a coil that's 1.7Ω... obviously that's not very warm, but how do I know what that temp is, so I can set it for that?

The main thing that grabbed me was when USMC mentioned how helpful it was with his kayfun that has no clear segment -- can't see when to refill, but the TC lets him know because there's less/no vapor -- same deal with my Achilles, I need something to let me know when it needs juice, because checking it constantly is for the birds! It's really hard to get that top cap to start turning, I usually have to use the pliers, because there's just nothing to grab onto for sufficient leverage to make it start turning. If I only had to remove it when it REALLY needed juice instead of every hour just to check, I'd be a lot happier. Or if someone made a clear tank for the Achilles!

I really wish they'd make these things for people with normal-human sized hands! And normal-human strength!

The vape will also become noticeably cooler when your tank runs out of juice. Still have vapor but its a lot cooler on the draw. I run my tanks dry all the time and have yet to burn my wick. The only time I ever had a dry hit is when I forgot to soak a new wick once. It was nasty but I took it back apart and looked at it and not a single scorch mark on the wick.

For you liking your vape at 8 to 10 watts I would start out at 300 F and 30 watts. Mine was at 60 watts when I received it and I turned it down to 30 watts yet I am vaping it at 500 F. Seems the older the coil gets the more I have to turn the heat up. I started at 400 F when the coil was new and its like 10 days old now. Might rebuild it today just to see but it is vaping fine. Both my STM's on my IPV4's have new coils in them and they are vaping fine at 400 F.

It sounds like I may not have too much trouble adapting; I've also noted, just in using vw, that as my coils approach the end of their useful life, I need to turn up the power a bit.

Starting at 300F seems like a good idea for me, since I don't want much vapor or too much heat. :thumb:

Don't know about pricing yet, but here is a new TC mod that might be up your alley as well....

Looks like it can use SS wire as well as ni200 and titanium

I'm interested in seeing how this reliant handles the different wires....is it preinstalled coefficients (modes) like the titanium mode on the Evic (not the greatest solution for SS wire, as the coefficient changes drastically between wire manufacturers)? Or will it be a user adjustable setting like the dicodes and dna200?
Sent with one hand, the other is busy vaping.

Maybe... but I got into this whole adventure because I'm looking for a white mod, then discovered that the Evic-VT's are quite affordable, especially given that they're TC mods! So, I still want a white mod -- so I'll go with the Evic-TC, since I can get a white mod, which also happens to be TC, for an extremely affordable price... Why not? :D I'm a curious critter, and with what you said about the TC allowing you to use your kayfun till it's dry without giving a dry hit... that's right up my Achilles alley! :thumb:

I'm really loving this Snow Wolf 200W. The glass, while pretty, does get pretty bad with fingerprints, so I went ahead and put a skin on it.

This mod has become my go-to mod with the evic-VT coming up a close second. My rDNA40 is currently tank-less, as I'm still waiting for my pre-orders for the Triton and the Starre Pro to ship. My SX Mini is running in power mode, so not using temp control on that one.

Very nice. Does the Snow wolf read temp even while in VW mode?

Might have to pick one of those up and start using my Magma again.

Loving the tardis skin :) I thought about getting a sonic screwdriver wrap for my vamo back when I used it, it didn't last long enough to warrant a wrap.

In VW mode (with Kanthal coil), you can set the temp but that doesn't do anything. And the temp display just shows the temp that it is set for. When you press the fire button, the temp disappears from the display. One cool thing is the display shows the real time resistance, so when you have a nickel coil on it and you start vaping, you can see how much the resistance jumps. With the Atlantis nickel coils, it reads as 0.16 ohms, but as soon as you vape and it hits the temp limit, looking at the display and the resistance will read 0.38 ohms.

I have one on my iStick 50 as well. Was debating getting a different pattern, but nothing really piqued my interest.

Heyyy this sounds like me for sure! I don't particularly chase clouds but I don't mind trying once in awhile and always keep a low ohm build on one mod (.4 or less) and always keep another mod in 18350 mode with a 1.0ohm or more build on it and there usually both within reach at the same time lol. I usually vape 3mg liquid but always have a tank on hand with 24mg liquid for those days where I'm especially edgey haha I guess I'm just a middle of the road vaper!

I so need at least 2 more drippers! I want one Rampage because i want to mess around with efficiency on a triple coil .4 build and i want something with a wider range for airflow than my Dark Horse.
Check out the airek..... Can close it down to part of one hole.....or open up all 3 (per side) for truly massive airflow

And a kayfun clone gifted

As for mechs I was lucky enough to get a deal on a authentic ragnarok cheap and was gifted a GP paps 2.5 clone

So luckly I have a decent amount to play with!

Modwomping on my new "Snowy Owl" (a.k.a. Smokeless Owl). Built up a spiffy dual-coil setup - about 0.82 ohms. Bopping on a fresh battery and some yummy butterscotch juice.

OMG - I'm now a "squonker" :D
Glad you're liking it! Let me know once you try the chalice :)
