Yep... especially my husband, who agrees with me!!! I try to live by "time and place for everything" -- the time and place for cars that sound like that, is during a race, on a real raceway, not a suburban road where people are living their lives, watching TV, listening to music, or maybe just got the baby to sleep, or work a different shift from most people and therefore sleep at odd times, when the rest of the world is awake. Or I could even accept an interstate highway as quite appropriate for vehicle noise... but still not that domestic suburban setting. It just doesn't fit, it's disruptive and annoying in that setting. I can understand appreciating the smooth operation of a high-powered, well-tuned and operated machine -- I find the whistle/thrum of jet engines positively enthralling! But... time and place. *shrug*

OH I agree with ya 100%...I was just having fun with ya.....but then there are episodes when the neighbors piss one off and the need to retaliate is needed....I could break out the firearms but that is illegal, so the best thing is an un muffled exhaust!......SO turbojets turn you on huh!

When I was a VERY little girl, my father worked for Delta Airlines, so we lived VERY close to the Atlanta airport, in fact we were in one of the "paths" for planes taking off -- also I had the chance to ride one of those jets when I was 3 yrs old; my dad worked for Delta and my mom worked for Hilton, so we had a NICE vaca in Puerto Rico... and to this day, airplanes, and the sound of the jets, fills me with nearly euphoric awe -- flight! The way that most little girls would react to "horsy! horsy!" when passing them along the road, I was that way with airplanes, and the closer they were, the better I liked it! And still do. We live not far from our local small airport in Gwinnett County, and most around here are peeved about the expansion that allows some jet access, but I'm loving it. :D

Ain't that the truth! We all have moments in our childhood that takes us back "home"! For me, it is the sound of trains. I lived near railroad tracks. For my early years I wanted to be a hobo and ride the rails. The sound of a train today takes me back to a time of innocence and security.... AKA childhood!

Heh, you'd love our house then; we're about 4 houses from the "end" of the road (it makes a 90 degree curve), and there's a very active set of tracks; when we first moved here, it was kinda strange, this thundering vibrating racket every so often, day and night, but now we barely even hear it unless it's moving particularly fast or is a very heavy multi-engine one -- since there are no RR crossings near us, they don't use those massive airhorns, so it's just the sound of the engines and the rails themselves.

It's a bit quieter in the summer, because the RR right of way is maintained as a wooded corridor, and there are a lot of both hardwoods and underbrush, which muffles quite a bit.

Every man or woman who loves cars, loud exhaust tones, should own a race car. I love the sound of a Porsche flat 6 with race headers, who needs mufflers....and the sound it makes is ohhhh so romantic.....bounces of of buildings well too!

Don't forget gunning it in tunnels or beneath underpasses. :D

I guess we need to imitate roaring engines if we want attention.
Well I had to think for a while....but any lady who came tootling past my house on a Triumph 650, she would get my attention, I would flag her down. And if that did not work and had no other way to catch her I would get Ole Mr. Ed out of the stable, saddle up and giddyup!

When I was based in south Dakota, I used to drive an 86 ford f150.... With a big ole 460, double barrel eddilbrock carb, monsterish dual exhaust.... It was loud :p
Was sitting at a stop sign during the Sturgis rally, waiting for pedestrians to cross, surrounded by bikes... Was trying to get a little rev chorus going so without looking I reved up... And scared the bajeebus out of the lady that happened to be crossing in front of me at the time... She practically climbed up my hood, thinking I was taking off
I felt bad, but couldn't stop laughing :p
