Ah, yes. Music in the 80's:

Thanks for nothing, MTV.

Spent the first half listening to punk and new wave from the late 70's and very early 80's. Spent the second half listening to vintage Pink Floyd and a ton of old electronica. Kinda missed the music of the 80's.

<--- Just got the Merle Haggard Award for being a NOODLE!

You don't want to be a noodle? I'm so offended :D

My entire teenage life was the 80s. I started jr high in 1980 and graduated college in 1990.

What you don't know about me: I have 600 CDs, 200 vinyl albums and 300 cassettes, lol! Yes, I love music.

Ahh the 80s... yeah there was some crap music, but I saw Max Webster open for Rush (Rush actually played with them on this song) in March 1981... what a freakin' awesome concert... Rush played for 3 hrs, and did most of the songs from 2112 (my favorite) as well as nearly all of their current (at the time) Moving Pictures.

There was good music in the 80's, but you had to dig for it. This list of Billboard #1 singles will remind everyone just how bad mainstream music got as the cease went on. C'mon, you know I'm right.:nah:

List of Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles of the 1980s - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Again, a lot of crap but I also see:

Queen
Pink Floyd
Men at Work (not exactly rockin' but these guys were pretty cool)
Yes
Van Halen
Heart
Whitesnake
Guns n Roses
Steve Miller

Did I not see Def Leppard? It would be wrong if they weren't in the top 100, even tho most of the "top 100" is usually pop, not rock. That has always been true. That's part of the reason people sneer at 80s music - cuz they mostly only hear the pop crap.... there was a LOT of good rock.

When I think '80's I think this type of music..Ikr?!? I'm a Rocker now,..and always was one!

Rock the weekend Wompers!

I'm a rocker too, but I confess, when rap and hiphop started infesting rock music, I switched over to "modern country" for the while -- the kind that sounds like 70's "southern rock"? There is still some decent rock music being made, but it's harder to find than it used to be. Nowadays rockers seem to think they need a woofer the size of my bedroom, and if you try to play it on any speakers with a woofer smaller than that, it just rattles and reverberates.

I just look at it as expanding my horizons, *slightly* -- I still don't like the country music of the 60s/70s/80s, it's got all that schmaltzy string orchestra crap in it that IN NO WAY belongs in country music!

They're among my ABSOLUTE FAVES... they feature PROMINENTLY on my blues playlist!

Some more-modern band did a cover of Just Got Paid, I heard it on the radio once about 4 yrs ago, but not sure who it was -- maybe Shinedown? Seether? Don't know if the DJ ever said who it was, but they did a great job with it. :thumb:

Can I like this about 15 times

I tend to get weird looks when I'm rolling down the street with some old school skynyrd or foghat zz topp and such I'm only 27 and half the dam guys my age couldn't recognize one of their songs unless it was along the ways of Sweet Home Alabama Or such

Every time I hear this emo music people are into it wants to make me rip my hair out

Plan today is go help my wife's cousin get his house ready to sell and when I hear the jets come by at the start of the air show grab my plume veil on the paps with some banana nut bread juice and kick back in the lawn chair and watch them thunderbirds come roarin past!

Somthing as small as that air show makes your really think about all our troops and veterans who who risk their lives to protect our freedoms so we can do what we want ...vape on and thank you for your services for those Currently serving and past!:headbang:
Going backwards so didn't see this post until just now..27 years old and listening to some of the best tunes ever produced?!?
Damn,,now I got to take it back that today's younger crowd wouldn't know good music if it was shoved up their ..... ;)

KattMamma,..My love of concerts started at the age of 15 when a buddy of mine and I wenr to Charlotte NC in '74 for The August Jam.
I've seen so many groups I can't remember them all,..but I have to say "The Rolling Stones" concert in '88 is a great memory..Also Paul McCartney and that one I never even wanted to go to..My girlfriend wanted to go really bad so I ordered tickets,..(over the phone back then), and when we got to Williams Brice Stadium they slapped a wristband on us and kept saying,.."move this way" until we were 7 rows back from the stage on the field. I was mind blowing to be that close really..No need for field glasses..lol
