Thank you so much for that!!!!!!! I had no idea who it was, frankly I've never heard of Mastodon. But they got that syncopated riff just RIGHT! Now I gotta play that for my husband!
THX!!

Anytime, they're an awesome band I've seen them a few times at hard rock festivals around here. But my all time favorite cover of an awesome song goes to these guys FFDP!!!!
Now, I'm a big fan of the "classic rock"...but my tastes vary a bit...I like to roll through the mean streets of Poughkeepsie, blasting Pat Metheney, or Vivaldi. Can I like this about 15 times
I tend to get weird looks when I'm rolling down the street with some old school skynyrd or foghat zz topp and such I'm only 27 and half the dam guys my age couldn't recognize one of their songs unless it was along the ways of Sweet Home Alabama Or such
Oh yeah,..but that's the only song from them I do like..lol
KattMamma,..My love of concerts started at the age of 15 when a buddy of mine and I wenr to Charlotte NC in '74 for The August Jam.
I've seen so many groups I can't remember them all,..but I have to say "The Rolling Stones" concert in '88 is a great memory..Also Paul McCartney and that one I never even wanted to go to..My girlfriend wanted to go really bad so I ordered tickets,..(over the phone back then), and when we got to Williams Brice Stadium they slapped a wristband on us and kept saying,.."move this way" until we were 7 rows back from the stage on the field. I was mind blowing to be that close really..No need for field glasses..lol
It's a wonder us 70's folks can hear a thing eh?!?Sounds like when I saw Elton John and Fleetwood Mac, in '76 and '77 respectively. At the EJ show, I was on the first row, but way over on the right side RIGHT in front of the WALL of speakers -- I couldn't hear for a week! But Fleetwood Mac was the best -- 2nd row center! I could see the little clouds of dust under Stevie Nicks' platform shoes!

I would say The Stones put on about the best show out of all I have EVER seen..When that big old devil started blowing up,..(balloon) and they played "Sympathy For The Devil" I knew we were all in for something special..I'd say that tops all the shows I've ever been to Roxy.I saw McCartney in the old Cleveland Municipal Stadium, and we sure weren't close to the stage
Also saw the Who and the Stones there in the early 80s.
@AndriaD ... Same with me, same time, double the smokes, but our $$$ spent much closer. There are two things going on here...We watch that show 'Rizzoli and Isles'... I was just noticing, the other night when it was on, that when Rizzoli wears a jacket, it's like a homage to the 80s, those jacket sleeves pushed up to her elbows.
BTW, I've been noticing that although our time smoke-free is very close, your number of smokes avoided is vast compared to mine... What did you do, eat them?

I have no idea who these are..Sorry,.old fart here. Now, I'm a big fan of the "classic rock"...but my tastes vary a bit...I like to roll through the mean streets of Poughkeepsie, blasting Pat Metheney, or Vivaldi.
VNeil,..it boggles the mind I know..I was almost a 3 PAD smoker when I had a heart attack..I cut down to 2 PAD after that but try as I may,..could never get off cigs even at the cost of potentially loosing my life..That is to say,..until I became a Modwomper.@AndriaD ... Same with me, same time, double the smokes, but our $$$ spent much closer. There are two things going on here...
First, the number of cigs I smoked per day depends on who you are or were. If my doctor asked, it was a pack a day, hey sometimes a bit more. Other people maybe I might admit to 2 a day, but usually a pack and a half.
Here I admit to 2.5 packs a day.
The truth? I worked hard to never actually track that, but I have a feeling it was more like 3 PAD. I used 2.5 PAD for my banner. Now that we have the lies dispensed with...
As taxes were piled onto cigs, BT increasingly added accelerants to keep us at least spending the same amount per day if not all of us smoking as much as we did. They probably tried to keep us smoking the same amount, but that might have been hopeless even for them. According to your numbers, you paid $5.68/pack, which is pretty typical. But I had access to $3/pack cigs when I quit, and just a few years ago it was more like $2.50 or so. So I could smoke almost twice as much as you, for very roughly the same amount.
I always thought those cheap cigs were costing me in other ways because I am pretty sure if I had to pay $5-6 a pack I would have never been able to maintain my near 3 PAD habit.
I can't believe I smoked over 18,000 cigs/year. I never bothered to calculate it before I put that banner up. I may have smoked upwards of 720,000 cigs in my lifetime! Surreal.
Well then,,another Jazz lover here as well..Are you into Candy Dufler?!?As far as my music went, Rock ended in 1979, give or take. Even the old groups were never the same again. So I'm a die hard 70s rock kind of guy (60s too of course). And Jazz, Jazz Fusion. Probably more jazz than rock.
It's a wonder us 70's folks can hear a thing eh?!?
I say eh?!? What'cha say?!?![]()
No... I listened to Billy Cobham (still do and he is still putting out albums although mostly old previously unreleased live stuff now). Freddie Hubbard, Grover Washington Jr, Miles Davis (Kind of Blue is sort of a musical ADV for me), Ron Carter, Stanley Turrentine, some George Benson. All those guys on the old CTI label. And of course jazz fusion... Mahavishnu Orchestra and that is where Billy Cobham really got his start.Well then,,another Jazz lover here as well..Are you into Candy Dufler?!?
You're into some heavy hitters there..I only have just gotten into Jazz because todays music really blows that bad. But yeah the older stuff is nice but I have to really be in the mood for jazz.No... For rock I was really into the more progressive rock... Emerson Lake and Palmer, Jethro Tull were my favorites. I actually got more into the other more pop classic rock in later years.
Over the years I listened to Joe Sample, some Bob James, some other, but I always keep coming back to the progressive rock/jazz/jazz fusion of the 70s.
