So... Yesterday I rebuilt my STM and Russian 91. Made the coils, 2.5mm for the Russian, 3.3mm for the STM. Got everything installed and wicked, going together without a hitch.

Evening rolls around and I sit for a vape and a beer. Grab the STM and something is not quite right. The flavor is a bit weak sauce. So I grab the Russian 91, after a few puffs I sit there looking at it.. Something is up, tastes funny. I think to myself it's wicking fine, stable resistance, must just be allergies messing with my tastebuds. Vape on.

I'm certainly interested in trying it out - I'm not one to miss out on a potentially superior vape, but I'm dubious of what improvements I may actually realize from it. I see this tech as a godsend for tank users, but I drip exclusively and know how to dial things in with a near 100% success rate. I can't remember the last time I got a dry hit. It's not my intention to boast, but I've spent the better part of three years gaining an intricate understanding of what my perfect vape is, and I know how to get it from all of my atties.

Beyond that, I have a sensitivity to nickel (can handle the small amount in kanthal) and really have no interest in maintaining titanium. To me it all seems like new hassles in exchange for a feature I wouldn't benefit from. I could also go on about my choice to use mechs for safety reasons, but I think I've said enough.

TL;DR - I'm willing to try it but I don't have much reason to. Could be surprised!

I don't find tc to be of any great benefit either although I'm an RTA user. IF I dry hit, its on an RDA, lol! I'm a lazy dripper.

I also have a ni allergy and use ti. I don't find maintence a problem though. It has been interesting to learn something new.

I find myself in agreement with both of these posts, although I do see a real benefit to TC, because I too am a lazy dripper. My Achilles holds 2-2.5ml, but using it "regular" style with kanthal, I'd obsessively check it every half hour in fear of the dreaded dry hit, and usually it was nowhere near needing a refill -- but a couple times now, I've noticed that I start getting really anemic hits on the TC, so I open up the Achilles and find the well is dry -- the wick tails still *mostly* wet, but starting to dry enough that the TC had to kick in, and produce less vapor -- so the TC has saved me from dry hits twice, very easily, while also saving me from having to obsessively keep checking it to see if it needs juice -- that was actually the exact reason I was interested in trying TC, and so far it's working perfectly for that.

I don't really find any maintenance with titanium, but I just started with it, so I dunno how it will be, as time goes by. So far it's really not a problem. I also have a sensitivity to nickel so no interest whatever in trying it. One of my big issues with building coils has been the difficulty of getting the wire around the tiny screws, but titanium is so much softer than kanthal, it's much easier to manipulate *around* the screws -- it goes where you want it to go, not so much where you don't.

Especially when it's bulletproof so you'll definitely get your moneys worth out of it for sure. After reading your posts I could definitely see you enjoying a LP Reo Grand with a Cyclone.

I have a standard Reo Grand, not a low profile, and always use a Cyclone on it. Here's the clone I first bought from FT for ~$6 to try out. It's not bottom fed so I modified it. It doesn't have air flow control but I don't really need it and this way it fits my Reo.

Stock I think it has a single 1 mm air hole for a single coil setup. It's a tootle puffer's dream machine IMO . Really small air chamber and you can only mouth to lung it. I drilled the air hole out to 3 mm and drilled through the other side to suit dual coils. Running it at around 0.3 ohms with dual coils it's a Modwomper's delight with a great combination of superb flavor at a bit higher power. At least for this Modwomper

The FT clone that I bought in early 2014 was not a good product. The outer post started spinning on me after a little while. I was able to fix that and ordered an original Vicious Ant Cyclone. I have it ready to go but am still using the FT clone because it's still working fine after my 'modification'. I guess sometimes when you hit something with a big enough hammer it just kinda perks up and gets the point

You will not get STM airflow nor would you want too...

It has 1.2, 1.5, 2 and 2.5mm holes for dual or single builds and one of those 1.2mm stacked holes for single only. Plenty of airflow for the excellent flavor this genesis delivers. Some of the clones do tend to whistle, and a quick touch with a Dremel rubber bit will round the sharp edges from the inside of the AFC ring and air hole top cap section.

If you want an EXCELLENT dripper that has a bottom feed option available, then pick up an Origen Dripper V2 or V3 total flavor like drinking juice from the bottle. Still no STM airflow you Kangerite...

If you have any rubber grit bits they do an excellent job of taking sharp edges off of air holes etc... without marring the surface too much.

What i would like to find is a dripper that has a decent size juice well yet not a leaker if laid down, airish or able to make airish and a good performer. I have two different style Mutations coming,

a Velocity

a Samurai,

and a Varatis 22mm

comming. Dont know if its just a severe case of shinnyitis or a quest for the ultimate vape I am on. lol

The top one is a Mutation X V4 and it looks like a great RDA if it is anything like my VaporDNA Mutation X3. The one beneath it is NOT a Mutation even though all the Chin-ee sites label it as such.

You might want to look into an Aeolus which has top airflow and is basically leakproof unless inverted.

I wanted to try out the Samurai but it just looked like it had too much airflow so let me know how it is! Im in love with the Bonsai which is the mini version. From that picture you posted the Bonsai looks like its about half the height of the regular one!

Great coil build VictorViper . So far I've stayed away from the more complex coil designs, but I think I'm gong to be trying a couple of them. Clapton coils look really interesting and I may have a go at that next week. Or tomorrow if it's a slow day

Swapped the duals out already - they weren't giving me enough flavour. I've now installed a single parallel coil (still wicked around the coil) at a decidedly un-wompy 0.31ohm (my lowest ever). Flavour is HUGE and it ramps up quick despite the size of the thing; it's about 8(x2) wraps of 24 gauge kanthal. Despite the fact that it's such a low resistance and I'm pushing close to 60W, it's actually not ridiculous. Warm, dense and flavorful!

I think I'm going to try some twisted wire in the Achilles on my Evic-VT; I've gotten so used to wimpy builds so I don't choke to death on vapor, but with the modulated temp, I think I need to build a bit more aggressively. With my usual sort of wimpy build, even at .5Ω. 35w, 380F-400F, it will do ok at first, but after a while, the vapor and flavor really fall off, till the best way I can describe it is "anemic" -- I'm getting more vapor and flavor from a 1.6Ω kanthal at 8w!

Maybe a more aggressive build, and controlling the amount of vapor with the temp selection, will be more of what I'm looking for with the TC.
