ROFL... I always find it hysterically funny when those who've smoked for DECADES say that vapor "makes them cough", or "burns their throat"... I mean, c'mon... SMOKE? For DECADES? and they can't handle a little vapor? Seriously??? I always think those are the people who are determined from the start that vaping "just won't work for them". Brains can manufacturer all kinds of BS, to serve our prejudices.

I coughed a lot when I started with wimpy CE4's. And my vape shop said it was typical. There is something different about vape. For some folks at least.

Had a bit of fun yesterday at the local B&M. I took my new dripper and let a bunch of people try it out. The normal vapers loved it but the huffers could not wrap their heads around it. It was actually funny watching the croud try to explane how to do a slow draw at 14W to people who are used to a two second huff at 60W with wide open airflow.

Also my 30/70 4mg/mL strawberry eliquid was too harsh for the lung inhalers. One of them bet I could not actually vape it. I took it from her and did a 15 second pull and blew a huge cloud. Her expression was priceless. I explained that high VG low nic eliquid was like baby food to me.

My ADV is 16mg/mL 70/30. :)

It was fun :)
I thought high vg low nic was the juice of choice for the cloud crowd? I luv high vg and often vape it straight or a couple mg of nic

Last time I ordered VG I picked up one gallon from Bulk Apothecary and if memory serves, paid $24 with shipping. I see Essential Depot has 2 gallons for $39.17 with free shipping which is a good deal. I dont even use PG anymore. By the time I add the nicotine (PG based) and flavors I am averaging 90/10 VG/PG. I keep a 500 ml VG bottle on my mixing shelf and fill it when needed from the gallon I have.
I just did the BA one gallon. I didn't want a second gallon on the shelf for the next year. If I had someone to split the ED deal it would have been great.

Definitely. I coughed a lot when I first started... The density is different, and smoke is drier. I stuck through it though, cause I didn't want to go back to smoking :p
Sent with one hand, the other is busy vaping.
This exactly

Couple days ago I did a Ti coil for my STM. 7 wraps of 28ga wire at 2.5mm. Put it on my IPV4 thats been upgraded and set it to Ti temp control. Gave it a shot and instant chatter. Hot, cold, hot, cold. Turned it up to 500F and tried it and it was better but still chattering with the temp so I set it from 30J down to 10J and it worked good but wasnt what I considered a prime vape. Vaped it a few days anyways just to try it out.
Today I took an RBA deck and did a 7 wrap coil with 24 ga kanthal and swapped it out in the STM. Set it to power mode and cranked it to 30 watts. Perfect vape! Its at the temp I like, great flavor delivery and good clouds, so I think I am thru with TC for now. TC is a great idea and the thought of never getting a dry hit is awesome but I seldom got dry hits before and I like a warmer vape than what TC has been giving me.

I bought a gallon from Bulk Apoth maybe 4 or 5 months ago and have around a third of it left so me getting 2 gallons isnt a problem for I will use it eventually. Probably will be a years supply for me.

Not always. When I first started trying to drip I would gag horribly and see stars from it. Part of it I believe was the damage I did to my lungs from all those years of smoking and they not liking the heavy vapor I was trying to inhale, but also the cloud chasers figured out I was using way to high of nicotine and said that was a common problem for new drippers.
It was the second time that I tried dripping I was using the magma and we all know that doesnt hit hard. That is when I went to the Cloud Chasers and they asked me a bunch of questions and figured out it was mainly the nicotine causing me to gag. Was trying to drip %12. Dropped it to %3 and I was able to vape it.

I've got 9mg in both my magma and my Achilles... seems fine to me, even with my 86% PG. I did have to reduce from 10mg to 9mg, for both of them; the Achilles' TH is so intense, the 10mg made me a cough a lot, and I recall when I first got the magma, using 10mg in it gave me a touch of the head-spins. Which I wouldn't necessarily mind, and could probably build my tolerance to not have that problem, but I'm always so afraid of the nausea that usually follows the head-spins. Mind you, I don't lung hit from either, total tootle puffer MtL hits, so they're really not terribly different from vaping on a Kayfun -- where I do use 10mg.

I didnt cough at all with CE4's when I first started vaping. It was within that first month when I bought a TOBH and tried it. WOW I was choking and gasping. Back to CE4's for dripping was not for me!

I never had that problem with vapor; I just enjoyed how much more TH I got from vaping, than from ultra-light cigarettes. Though as noted above, when I got the Achilles I had to drop 1mg, because the TH was *so* intense, it made me cough. Also I was used to mounting coils very high in my Kayfuns, for max TH, and had to learn to mount them just a little lower in the Achilles -- still not all the way flat, but not as extreme an elevation as I prefer in Kayfuns.

You really need a dedicated RTA for TC. Those two extra contacts in the STM can add up to 0.1 ohm easily.

The more I think about TC the more I see potential mistakes that could happen.

Say you make a 0.1 ohm coil, mount it in an atty with 0.09 ohms of resistance. The power supply reads it as a 0.19 ohm coil. Then calculates the resistance rise of 0.19 ohms worth of coil to do its thing. Problem is there is only 0.1ohms of coil so to see the resistance rise it expects it overheats the coil because that 0.09 ohms from the atty does not change.

With Both the IPV4's and the Evic VT, I didnt have any problems with the resistance jumping around. Set it cold and it stayed there. The STM does have an issue with the RBA decks bottom pin. If you dont tighten it up a bit, it will give wild varying resistance readings. Once you snug that pin up, that problem goes away for good.
The STM I put the 24 ga Kanthal coil in is vaping wonderfully right now. I have an experimental tobacco flavor in it and its very good.

Chop Thanks for this post. I have the ipv4 also and tried NI and was not impressed. Thanks for stopping my urge to buy TI.

I wish I understood this tightening up of the STM bottom pin

Not the best pic but best my Iphone can do. Look at the hole also. Took a Dremel and cut a slot from the wick hole to the bottom. 90/10 VG/PG feeds the wick fine with no leaks or dry hits. This is the newest style RBA deck for the STM.
