Good post Don ! , a nice overview of all that has taken place over this year
BTW I agree with you about #6 !
You? Agree with #6 (about the importance of VV)? I'm shocked! :D

Seriously, Mike, thanks! That means a lot! I write about the stuff that you and the other inventors do.

[NOTE: That is not a self-put-down. Actually, I'm quite proud of the role that I (and other literary and video commentators)* play.]

* For example, some of the other posters in this thread.

Thanks Don! You've been around a lot longer than most here. I read posts of yours on the WayBackMachine from Feb 2008 I think!
Hey, GoodDog! Take a look at my Join Date. I may be old (e.g., I do get the Wayback Machine reference, Peabody), but in ECF years, I'm just the boy, Sherman.;)

Sadly, you inadvertently chose well in banishing #10 to the rear of the pack.

Two weeks ago, I'd have thought you were Posting While Intoxicated; a decision comes down that allows the nine other events to have any relevance at all, and you rate it last?

Now I see you were Prescient While Intoxicated, and that Leon's and the Apellate decisions are mere preliminary bouts, the warmups to the Main Event.

As you should be! And this write up is no exception Don. Outstanding! As another newbie to this crazy world of vaping I'm also amazed to see how new some of the PV technologies are. For you old timers this really has been one hell of a year! wow!

If you were to really dig down into the root cause of the explosion the e-cig world has experienced, I would dare say that ECF and ALL the great folks here that create/invent ; share their knowledge and write informative articles is the real reason for the e-cig world to take flight as it has. As we have all seen in just the past 2 months, people and companies are looking and listening to discussions here on ECF and they are responding!

I personally want to give a big THANKS to all the Techno's; DIYers and others like you Don here on ECF for helping myself and others enter into our new smoke free vaping lives. The future is VERY bright indeed.

Merry Christmas and Happy vaping New year to all of you!

Very cool top 10 list! Very good read. I just started vaping in late October and I had no idea that just about everything I have (eGo, 510 cartos, drip tips, LR atty, USA juice) are all so new! Its really quite amazing how much has happened for this growing industry in just a single year. I can't wait to see what exciting new things 2011 will bring for us. For me right now the ultimate is the VV ali'i, if only I had the cash and the luck to get an order in on something that sells out in minutes! I'm sure there will be some truely amazing innovations yet to come!

Continuing thanks to all, including you, vapspaz, for that effusive praise!

Sadly, you inadvertently chose well in banishing #10 to the rear of the pack...
See my clarifying comment in this follow-up post:

As for #10: Its ranking is way off, but I wanted it to come up front and center. Kind of the opposite of a TV show's cast credits that end with "...AND" the name of big star.

You could have included Johnny Depp in "The Tourist" for #9, but your pick was WAY hotter!
I haven't seen that movie, Clyde. Thanks for bringing it to my/our attention! I'll have to track down a photo or clip from the movie.

Found it! It's subtle, but perhaps that's good: Vaping shown as a routine occurrence (and in a place where smoking is prohibited). Just part of life ... and associated with elegance.

As the master commentator on juice-feeding, I'm surprised that you didn't push for a higher ranking of #5. Perhaps you agree with my remark: "Still mainly a niche phenomenon (like VV), they have such great potential."

As always Don, your posts are interesting and fun to read. Thank you for all the time you've given to help make the transition from smoking to vaping as painless as possible. And thank you for directing me to the 801 penstyle. I get more compliments on it than I do my Egos. It's a workhorse in vapor production and very elegant. I feel like I jumped on the vaping bandwagon just as the explosion was taking place but I agree that 2011 will be a more notable breakthrough year. Thanks again for helping so many of us with your storehouse of knowledge.

You are more than welcome, Lynda! Thank you for your kind words.

Listen: If you like the penstyle and you appreciate the mAh of the eGO, have I got a PV for you! The Leo! My favorite vape to date. It really is quite wonderful. Not compatible with anything else (including other penstyles), but I don't care. There are now several suppliers I can order replacement batts and attys from. See my review for more on this smooth-vaping thing.

Doesn't surprise me Boge makes a nice PV. They make excellent 510 cartomizers.

Just hitting the one year mark, so I don't know what it was like before that. However, one year ago the big deal was the 510 and KR8, which has now been surpassed by VV and LR.

Great write up.

For myself I would add the simply vast amount of Home made Mods and tutorials on how to make them. However, I could be wrong, as they might have been going strong two years ago and I wouldn't know.

Happy Vaping Everyone.

Ps. It would be interesting to see what would be number one in vendors and products. I would have to guess at the eGo for product. Personal Favorite for Vender would be MadVapes. What was it last year, Cignot and the 510?

Thanks, Brad!

Since I'm not a modder, I didn't think of the home-made mods and tutorials ... although I should have. There is a thin line between the commercial mods (which I did acknowledge) and the hobbyist. Same comment about US-made e-liquid mixers and DIYers.

Unfortunately, the 2009 Vapy Awards website was not maintained. The Joye 510 did indeed win as Best Starter Kit (the Kr8 and 901 came in 2nd and 3rd). There were three supplier categories: Best Overall, Best Bang for the Buck, and Best Customer Service. NHaler won the first one; Cignot the other two. I remember Rocky Mountain Vapor and Heaven Gifts placing/showing in the Bang for the Buck; not sure about the other two. The Best Innovation (or something like that) was high-voltage mods. I think Carlos' Juice Box won best hobbyist mod. Best Commercial Mod was the Chuck. Best Video Reviewer: GrimmGreen, with igetcha and MoobyGhost in two and three. Greatest Contribution to Vaping was Spikey; and Kristin placed. And there was also a Best Forum Contributor category, but I can't remember who won that.;) I know that Spikey came in 2nd. Sun Vaporer showed in one of those last two categories.
