Thanks for this, Mr. DaBoomVape. As a new enjoyer, it's nice to get some historical perspective. It's easy to (wrongly) feel that everything around a scene when one starts paying attention has always been there.
Glad I did that shameless bump, if it brought this thread to your attention, Mr. Maniac! [Why don't we drop the "Mr."s. I'm Don ... or DaBoom is fine. Should I call you eGo?;)]

Your comment and others like it surprised me initially ... although they shouldn't have. Unconsciously, I wrote that Year In Review, visualizing a fellow veteran vaper. In fact, most active ECF members today joined during the past year, even the past few months.

I think the typical vaper spends a couple months haunting ECF, getting up to speed ... and then goes off to his/her life, vaping contentedly. The hard core (e.g., who inhabit the Veterans Forum, start their own blogs, grind out review/tutorial videos, or become suppliers) are relatively few and far between.

I'm glad this thread got bumped up so that I can add my thanks also. I really enjoyed reading this thread, and following some of the links provided. Thanks Mr. Don for posting and thanks to all contributors. Later, JD :vapor:

There were three supplier categories: Best Overall, Best Bang for the Buck, and Best Customer Service. NHaler won the first one; Cignot the other two.
I stand somewhat corrected.
:)

Best Commercial Mod was the Chuck.

I'm pretty sure I voted that way myself.

I am going to point out some things that might seem a bit odd, but for me they changed everything...
1) Discovering the dry burn technique of cleaning atomizers
2) Discovering drip tips

In particular, this thread started my personal revolution...
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/tips-tricks/69834-my-atty-resurrection-method.html

Prior to reading that thread, I was rotating four different atomizers, two 306s and two 510s.
Each week I would clean a pair of them in Diet Coke and let them dry for a week while using the other pair.

After discovery that dry-burn method, I put away two of the four atomizers and just went with two atomizers without rotation.
And shortly after, drip tips were invented, and I put away the other 306 atomizer as well.

Since discovering dry burns and drip tips, I have been using one single 510 atomizer exclusively.
And then I realized that the stockpile of 510 atomizers that I have could last me for decades.

And that led me to selling off all of my spare parts and pieces that I will never use anymore.
So dry burns and drip tips essentially changed my personal vaping world completely.

EDIT: AND THANKS DON, FOR ALL YOU DO AND HAVE DONE!!
EDIT: :)

Suweeet right up Mr. Don! I honestly had no clue what was new or old or otherwise. I just read and bought what seemed to be on the most trusted page... first mini kr808'd then upped to a 510. You and everyone else along with the right tools is what put me on a better health trail.
Personally for me this year and my 1.5 months of experience I would say dripping has had the biggest effect. I can't wait till my taste buds return so I can actually taste what I am vaping.

I remember when I first heard about eCigs/PVs, sometime in late 2008. I really liked the idea and wanted to try it out, but the resources available and the lack of safety information and vendor feedback stalled my research, and I gave up.

Katherine Heigl vaping on Letterman was a revelation for me, and reminded me of the research I had attempted two years ago. Interestingly enough, I never see anyone vaping in my area, and had honestly pretty much forgotten about vaping as a viable alternative to smoking.

The resources available now, the number of vendors offering quality products at reasonable prices, places like this forum where actual users give valuable feedback and allow one to reliably choose proven product, the availability of a wide variety of juice options, and the judge's decision preventing the FDA from banning eCigs outright brought me back to research and now the purchase of a PV (actually two PVs).

I'd say it's a great time for vaping overall, but getting the word out and getting more smokers converted to vapers is the all-important next step. As it stands, I know I'm going to have a lot of strange looks and explanations to friends and family, but I'm all in. :)

I am struggling to keep up. Darwin, Eclipse eq, Infinity, Precious Lv2, eGO/Tornado Tank, FOG feed system... Ahh!

Well ... I can content myself with accurate prognostication. So, was I right about: "Vaping is no longer in its infancy, but has entered adolescence … and you know what happens then. We ain’t seen nothin’ yet!"?

I haven't followed this thread too closely, but I would agree with this statement.

The vaping equipment, juice choices, and batteries have improved an order of magnitude just since I started vaping. 2011 should be an interesting year.

When I started vaping I thought I would be able to review perhaps a quarter of the PVs on the market over the following year- ain't gonna happen. There's just too many and too many choices now.

It's to big for any one person to get a handle on.
