I still wish they would put a simple watch in the firm ware I look at my mod more than my watch. In fact I don't even ware a watch any more because of my smart phone I don't need one.
Now if I could only surf the web txt and make calls with my sx-XXX mod... hum.....
    YIHI are you listening?

That is a pretty good idea!

I took the weekend off.....funny I don;t feel any more rested though!

Leave the buttons alone and tap off of them. We did this on the 1st production run of the regular mini board. Just takes a little patience. Unless you are an experienced surface mount hand solderer you will likely ruin the board trying to remove them. Believe it or not way more people want those buttons right where they are for some reason. No idea why but thats the feedback. For me its easier to mount my own with wires than trying to get all the alignment, depth, throws, tacts, etc all perfect. But thats been the feedback.....

For the fire button just cut it off and use your AV switch of choice.

USB....i don't have any ideas at the moment but I have even tried yet. would be nice if you could incorporate it into your designs to be honest...The less you do to the board the better.

    Quantities of production? WHY?

    I already asked for a clock :) seriously....they laughed.....but I did......

IMO only a spy with 23 posts would ask how many were produced.

Thanks OD1 thank God I didn't go into production on the molds based on the mini board.
If the stand off is good for the usb and the buttons wont be pressed when its mounted ill leave them there and assuming they didn't epoxy the legs maybe I can just tap off of them?

What about the old switch pads (up-down) can they be used? Someone said they are still there?

Hello, no spying guys. Was just inquiring about production numbers cause I want a silicone case for my SXmini. Yihi indicated to me in an email exchange they were working on one. But wondering if numbers are large enough for this to really materialize. Also I was just curious about the joules total count. Because how cool would that be ? Like I said, an odometer for your board, additionally switch, mod, mabe warranty life. I figure you guy's in this thread would give better answers, than the regular SXmini thread. Mod builders have more insight to a company's products than regular consumers for the most part. And I prefer knowledgeable answers (vaping since, July 11, 2011) and I like to make custom vape gear. One off stuff, like an RDA specifically for temp control, a dual 18650 SX350j boarded mod with curly maple and leather, or ostrich skin I'm designing now. So yah, that's it , no spying, just professional insight. Thanks Ramrod. ....

I know for sure I could not remove the updown switches and usb. I would destroy the board.
Someone who is used to working on such things may be able to do the removes. It looks like the switches are "surface mount" and I can see under my magnifying light very small tabs that are soldered to the board.
An interesting thing I just discovered when looking at the board is there are four unused "pin outs" that look just like the ones on the first SX350 boards that they used after the first release for the remote switch wire connections. Looks like Yihi was thinking early on in the development of the J chip to offer the option of remote updown switches. But we know all to well they decided to only offer one switch option and that being onboard.
Seems you are right about those extra board pads, I saw this PIC from YiHi with external switches.

I just measured the J board that I have and it is 16.5 mm at it's thickest spot, which is indeed around the center. The usb sticks out another 2mm or so, but this part should stick through the wall of the mod and be flush with the outside of the mod so it is not included in the total thickness of the board.

Nice picture.....very interesting. Also interesting that the board in the picture has both the onboard and remote updown switches.

That is exactly the location I was referring to. On my J board these holes are clean, with no epoxy or anything over them. They look like they are just waiting for some wires to be attached?????

Now the big question is did Yihi leave this option in their current firmware version????? Or maybe the "pathways" between these unused solder points and the surface mount updown switches are connected and active. If it was not for epoxy being over some of the solder pads on the onboard switches I could check this out with an ohm meter.

The top of the buttons on the onboard switches are 2mm lower than the top of the screen.

I'd be tempted to power it up and short out a pair of pads to find out. If there's no documentation, whoever is bravest will do it first. Or remove the epoxy and use a multimeter would be safer.

The usb on the large board (J board) is used for any future firmware updates and can be used for charging a single battery mod.
The usb on the smaller board (balance charger board) is only used for charging a mod with two batteries in series. This balance charger is not needed unless your mod has series batteries.

It's not a USB on the charge board is a 9v round hollow pin thing!#+?$&×*

You are correct about it not being a USB.
I need to be more careful when posting late at night as my thinking gets a little slow.

The Varitube site lists the following about this balance charge board:

    9V 1A input is required.
Requires 9V Wall adapter with 3.5mm barrel connector
