Hey Frog, I'm in RIC, ping me if I can help.

Thanks, I'm from Williamsburg....but currently in Japan for 7 months.

Ok I have been using this for a few hours, had a metallic taste in the begining- performed a dry burn to check all the wraps= good to go. Now the flavor seems muted, it is a quality juice and the flavor is good in a tank w/carto....any ideas?

Could be a few things. Might not be wicking properly, and you're only getting a little juice, or could just be that the flavor profile changes due to a genesis atty. There are 2 flavors that I really like in cartos that are not very good in gennys, but that's more due to increase in flavor, which increased the harshness (one was apple cider, which was okay, but the green apple flavor burns my throat in my genny). Last thing it could be is it may take a little time for the wick to season and produce its best flavor (tank or 2).

Assuming the metallic taste is gone, and not getting hot spots (dry hits), sounds like you're not really shorting out, which is good. Hope it works itself out, otherwise you may want to look at some different juices.

Yea Neo has a point. Going from Cartos to the Genny is a whole different ballgame.

So far I haven't had that OMG moment with the Gennys, but you really have to just start finding which mesh works best for your juice and making sure your coils are setup correctly. I know the stock setup that came with the ZAP wasn't that great, so I switched out the 400 ss mesh that was on it and tried the 325 ss mesh and it seemed to wick better, at least for the VG juice I was using.

I just bought some 500 ss mesh and still testing it out. So far the wicking isn't anything special, but I am using very thick VG juice. I know when I had a PG based juice with the standard 325 mesh that came with the ZAP it was fantastic. Again, just keep tinkering with the coil and mesh setups and you will find your sweet spot.

Thanks, I'm not frustrated yet.....just seems there is no flavor at all which is strange (Melon) taste great in a cart and in a tank just absolutley nothing so far in the ZAP. The coil Ohms out at 2.5 and I am running 4.8 volts on it with the Provari. Granted it's my first day with both and I have only gone through 3/4 of a tank (maybe). So if I can't get this figured out, or better then it is, I will come back screaming for advice.

first give the whole thing an iso bath before you even think about vaping it, these things are CNC machined and during the process get machining oil all over them, mike says he puts them in a autoclave to clean them but i think he misses some as 2 out of my 3 zaps came w/ machining oil (doesnt take anything away from what an awesome device it is but machining oil tastes bad mmkaay  )

also are you using the wick that came with it? toss those theyre garbage imo, get yourself some 200 and 500 mesh roll it up solid so that theres only a very small hole through it and tightly so that it barely fits inside the insulator (its up to you whether yuo want to use the insulator but i think it holds value for those who are new to gennies as it will eliminate basically any shorts to ground as long as you make sure the wick is lifted up off the bottom) w/ the insulator you want about 5/6 wraps, from ~4-5v, use only 32 gauge wire to start out w/ and torch the wire to get it heat treated before you start wrapping, it will burn off any oil that might be on there and also make it a lot easier to work w/... also crimp the wire where it comes off the wick to go onto the ground screw and pos screw so as to eliminate hot spots, try to run the ground one up the screw to get as small a lead as you can and try to run the pos lead up the wick to keep it saturated w/ juice as long as it can. try to position the entire coil as much in front of the air hole as you can as well.

here is a pic of what it should look like when your done, this is on my kicked SW, but its the only device i have an insulator in right now...

I can assure you my coil doesn't look like that when I apply voltage. I am kinda stuck with these stock coils until I can get some material (being in Japan..may be a week or so). The cleaning part I can handle for now, I may be able to manipulate the wire as well. This kit came with 32 gage so all I need is different material and a good butane torch.
Where do you get your mesh?? Link if you could.

Thank you sir.

Hey all I bought a used zap and the positive screw won't screw down tight enough to trap my wire and when I screw it down as tight as I can my whole center post then unscrews and I have to hold it with pliers to get the little positive screw undone. Any help?
Unfortunatly my best guess is that the screw was not threaded correctly at some point before you and it did not take. Do not force it. Check the screw if it is the issue than order the O-ring kit from ProVape as it comes with new screws. If its the threaded hole - If you have skills go get a small tapping kit from Low... or HD and retap the hole to the same size and replace the screw(actually this may be impossible and a dumbass idea on my part)
Before you do anything major I would contact PV and find out if there is a repair available for a charge if you are stumped.
Be careful and GL

if your screwing it down how is it screwing up? im confused :?:

my bf said that all our zen screws, both z-attys and zens we have a lot of them, but err he said most of them came with crossed threads on the top screws. we had to replace almost all of them, they just came that way. he made me laugh one time but i cant remember what he said, some joke about zen putting the screws in with a impact driller lol.

i almost forgot why I came into this thread lol. I found some cool colored o rings like clear glow in the dark, pink, purple, neon green + yellow and others for body jewelry at a tattoo and peircing shop and I need to know the thickness and outer and inner measurements of the o rings that fit under the glass, the lady there said if i give her that info she can help me out. anybody? beuhler? lol :D

So I have had this thing for a week, and at times I want to throw it through a window. Specifically last night!

I use very thick VG juice, and the mesh that came with it is useless. I bought some 500 ss mesh based on reviews from the forum, and that hasn't wicked great either.

Everyone has an epiphany with these things, but I have not arrived at this specific level.

I'm still getting better flavor from my carto tanks and using those just like I normally have.

I am going to try to take out that insulator and put in a thicker rolled wick. I really don't see the point of that thing (obviously to prevent shorts) but your wick is so much smaller if you have that in there.

Again, if anyone has experience with these with very very thick VG juice please let me know. I still need to tilt like crazy to even get this thing to wick, and when it does wick the taste is nothing extraordinary. My carto's are still winning.

I was reading this thread for a similiar reason. My AGA T + has almost no flavor. Have screwed with it for hours and hours, all size and gauge or mesh, wires from 28 - 32 and it can not even come close to my simple little Vivi Nova's or drip tips. Thought there might be something better, but might just be something about these type attys. Not that interested in investing more money in something that can't do what $12 device can do.
