Has anyone had any issues with the notch coil exploding into flames? Or working for a while and then melting? I just read through the reviews on vapordna.com and a couple people that bought it said the coil burst into flames! They both claimed to have them on dna 200 boxes and running it around 50 watts.... But I'm having a hard time believing it would do that at 50 watts.
But 2 separate reviews saying its a fire hazard? I'm a tad worried. I guess worst case scenario is I'll have to use my own coils, but I'm hoping that it's fine and they're stupid and the notch coils are as good as everyone else says.

I think there has been a slight misunderstanding. I was suggesting you put it into TC so it would step down the voltage. It's a workaround, you put it into TC, but use it like it's in power mode.
This is only a problem when using low resistance coils because they require less voltage. When using low resistance coils since the D2 doesn't step down voltage in power mode you end up with more wattage then you dial up.
As for the settings I would set the Temperature to the max and joules to slightly less than my normal wattage (adjust joules up or down to taste - up if the vape is too cool, down if it's too hot). Since the TCR of SS is quite a bit lower than either Ni200 or Ti01 it shouldn't matter which one you select. Again your not really using TC, you are just using TC mode so the D2 will step down the voltage. You have it in TC but your using it like it was in power mode - it won't regulate the temperature but since it will step down voltage it will regulate the power (it's just a workaround since the D2 won't step down voltage in power mode).

Thanks for the tip, I set it to max 572 F max, with 26 Joules (I usually vape in power mode at 40-50 watts. The resistence on this notch coil is .22 This is a weak draw for me at 26 joules, so I set it to 30 joules and again getting the burn/dry hits after a 3-5 second draw. Am I missing something here?

this is one of my (few) pet peeves. when i order something from a vendor and get an email telling me it has shipped - but it really hasn't. all they did is assign it a tracking number and then they take their time actually getting it to the post. on tuesday morn i ordered a theorem from origin. a few hours later i get an email saying it has shipped, but it hasn't. 48 hours later it still hasn't been accepted at the post. i understand very well how the tracking works with usps. once an item is scanned at the post it only takes a few hours at most for that info to make it to the web. now i'm not complaining about the delay, i know it takes time to process,
package and get the item to the post. i just don't like being lied to.

That sucks. Origin got mine out about 35 hours after I ordered it. They did send the tracking number the same day i ordered it but sent it the next night. I paid for priority shipping so they may have given it more priority. I ordered Monday and it's coming today.
That's one of my biggest pet peeves too. They should ship the same day they print the label, imo.
Maybe send an email asking about the status as a gentle reminder? The owner, Eric, is great and responded to my emails quickly.

For instance, a company takes a pre-order and is waiting for stock. That order is in limbo until the stock count is entered. Now the supplier emails the company and says, "We are shipping 20 units to you today". The company then goes out to the website and enters 20 units as stock, the automation process begins and emails are sent and they haven't even received them yet.
It's a good and bad thing depending on how your mind works. Some people like the tracking number because it gives them actual live tracking of their order without having to call and check. Some people hate it because they think the company is lying to them about shipping. It's all about perspective.
no problems and I've been vaping on one of them since Monday--at 45 watts. something tells me if they are 'exploding into flames/melting' that they are being run at very high watts. the coils, as most know, are made out of very thin ss. SMM mentioned not to run these at anything higher than 50-55 watts.
See, that's what I thought too. They had to be running them above 50. Weird coincidence that they were both using DNA 200 boxes though?
origin IS in the us. i do understand the process, i just wish they wouldn't send email saying my item has shipped until it does. there are vendors that operate in this manner.
How did you wick using rayon? I tried, tight in the coil & cut the tails going into the slots about 75%. I'm new to rayon so I don't know if I've done it correctly. Thanks!Got mine today. Pulled the cotton from the notch coil and wicked with rayon. Wasn't getting a warm enough vape with any of the airflow combinations. Pulled out the notch coil and threw in a standard (for me) fused Clapton 26/34 n80/SS316 3mm 6 wraps and wicked with rayon. Ah, there it is.
Using rayon, the rule of thumb is "more in the coil, less in the tails" so to speak. I've been thinning the tails enough to promote juice flow, but leaving enough to allow the wick to fill the deck channels.
Mine is sitting in my mailbox waiting for me. Kudos to the hated angelcigs for shipping it within hours of the email notification less than 48 hours ago.

In my experience in the under 24 hours I've had it, and 4 different builds I've tried in it, I can say that there was A LOT of hype on the "flavor this thing puts out". I feel I get better flavor out of my griffin than this (as of right now with my current dual chimney build). But, I'm not giving up on it this quick.
Cool, I hope you enjoy it as much as I am. Comparing the Theorem to my Griffin, the flavor of my juices are better and the vapor is more dense. The Griffin gives me more vapor and less refills. Each has its place and its own virtues. I have 2 of each and they are the only tanks i'll be vaping on in the foreseeable future.
Oh well, each to their own.
Angelcigs THEOREM has landed & guess what......I'm so exhausted from all the built up anticipation that I don't have the energy right now to even mess with it.

In a extensive German review he had an issue with the steel sleeve not fitting, is that an issues for the users here?
