I did 2 off the wall custards yesterday. They turned a nice shade of rust lol. I have them sitting in a dark place not sure if I should take the caps off for 24 hours or just let them sit. That is still a mystery in the making I think.

Unless the flavoring is an alcohol base there's no need to leave the cap off. Half way through the steep process just loosen the cap to let built up air escape then recap and continue steeping.

Well when I made up the 2 I just stuck them in the thermos and shook them for a bit every hour you know the lazy mans way to steep. They turned out very nice :vapor:

Update: Of the three juices that I steeped in the thermos, two came out very nicely, and one still needs some work. However the trouble with that one may lie with the juice, not with the thermos. It's a TFA RY4 double which has always given off a chemical flavor to my taste buds- regardless of how long a steep. I compared this recent batch with one that was naturally steeped for nearly 5 weeks, and they both taste exactly the same. Therefore it seems the thermos has done its job cutting the steeping period to a few hours instead of a few weeks. Altogether I am very happy with the results.

Try anything new? I use the thermos on my custards to get a jump start on the steeping.

I have tried a few tobaccos which are tough to steep. The thermos cuts it down quite a bit, but I still need a few more days of natural steeping for some. 7Leaves by FA is one of them. Needs nearly 5 weeks of natural steeping v.s two weeks with the thermos. How long a natural steep is right for custards v.s using heat? I use vanilla sometimes and it needs a minimum of 10 days without heat.
