There are people out there who will try to stop you. For whatever reason, they just cannot accept us vaping. They prove their ignorance by not even doing any of their own research. They just take the stance that ecigs are bad, and some of them have even made me feel like i am doing something wrong.

I know i must let it roll off my chest and keep pushing forward.

vaping has saved me, just as it has many of us. That is probably why it affects me when others make me out to be some kind of a bad person when they see me vaping.

I try my best to educate without sounding like some kind of a know-it-all. I try to stay in my lane. But i will not hesitate to speak up for something that means so much to me. I feel better than i have felt in all of the 15 years i smoked.
Sometimes people think they are so perfect and they make you out to be the bad guy, but in fact, they are being verbally and emotionally abusive and they do not even realize that in fact they themselves are wrong.

Sorry just had to rant because i feel i have been attacked (in my personal life) for what i believe in.

I know exactly how you're feeling, VaporClouds. It's hard enough when strangers diss your vaping, but when people you know do it... While I can't just shrug it off (it still hurts), I've learned to take comfort in my new health and the knowledge *I* am doing the right thing. I've also accepted that these kinds of comments speak more about the person who utters them than they do about me...

Long story short, ive been labeled and talked down on by a couple of my family members and one of my wifes freinds and it has been specifically vaping related. I cannot go into the details because i dont want there to be any references that could get my thread deleted. But yeah, in their mind , ecigs are in the same class as something else (you know what i mean).
Ive been preached at with false information as well such as, the batterys explode so i am dangerous to be around, vaping gives you pneumonia, vaping fills your lungs with water, i am apparently just a gullible dumb*** according to my sisters bf. And more than that even.

I have no idea why some people assume that they have the "God-given right" to berate other people. But - sorry to put it this way - such things take 2 people: 1 who does the berating and blathering and lecturing, and 1 who listens to that crap instead of putting an immediate stop to it.

I get the same, but by ...... who are ignorant and will ask questions but not listen to answers. Then, they'll either have a tumbler full of liquor, a smoke, or both, and then again pass judgement about vaping. My wife understands and is supportive and so is my son and that's all that matters to me.

Wow. So they trully believe that cigarettes are better for you then vaping? Or is it that they think you're vaping something other then nicotine? It makes no sense to think vaping is worse for anyone then cigarettes are. My doctor and mother (she's a nurse) both PUSHED vaping on me. My mother especially after watching my grandmother die of lung cancer that spread to her brain. I understand that Big Pharma and Big Tobacco are on a campaign to smear vaping, but it blows my mind that there are people out there, regular, ordinary people who aren't working for BP or BT that truly think vaping is worse then cigarettes. Even the vehemently anti cig crusaders I know acknowlege I'm better off vaping then smoking.

My sister in law, who just happens to live next door to me, read an article in a newspaper recently that basically said that e-cigs flavored name attract children to the use of them and that it's not the user of e-cig right to "poison the neighborhood" with their habit.

It's amazing how one ignorant writer's newspaper article can have on those previously uniformed and make the reader a new found expert.

Yes, that is exactly what is happening. They think i should smoke or not smoke and that vaping is dangerous. Now that ive ranted about it, i can think about it more clearly. Perhaps it is only because it is foreign to them. Or maybe because they have not been exposed enough. I am not mad at them for labeling me, i am just frustrated because i am proud and happy to be vaping and i wish some of my family would be happy for me. Thanks ECF (all of you), i do feel better after ranting and thanks for all of the replys.

Yeah I've run into a lot those idiots, and in general the tend to be ignorant hateful and bigoted people who would find another reason to hate you if you didn't vape. My first impulse is usually to reward them with a 230gr JHP, but fortunately I tend to think things through and I almost never shoot people.

I usually tell them if they don't like it they can write their Congressman, and turn my back on them while vaping on. If they keep it up I start excluding them from my life.

I find this is true not just for eciggs but most any subject
that the news gives misinformation for political purposes

people feel very strongly about something they hear on the news
that if they just done the smallest amount of their own research

they would know how false of information they are going on

they feel soo strongly that they sometimes are willing to put up a huge fight over what they falsely believe

Well it's nice they care about you and it's sound like they would prefer you not to vape or smoke cigarettes. I would agree with them that there is health risk, but you fell the risk is far less then cigarettes? Change the conversation to the positive of you vaping.

Very interesting. I saw my doctor, he aske me if I was still smoking, which for years I would say yes. Now he did not remember the last visit him, I told him I was vaping. His response to me was, I'm OK with you vaping it's night and day better then cigarettes.

He then asked me if I was still coughing every day and I told him no. After the exam he told me my lungs sound much better and sound like a normal none-smoker, and to keep up with what I was doing. He told me that some day I should try to stop the vaping, but he rather see me vaping then smoking.

If you don't agree with how I live my life... that is not a problem because I don't care.

If you feel the need to harass me and bad mouth me... that also is not a problem because I don't care... But you will be doing it outside of my home and off my property.

If a family member or loved one lacks the back bone to support my living healthier that too is not a problem... they will be doing it outside of my home and off my property.

I take my personal freedoms very very seriously... I am respectful of other peoples right to live life how they see fit, its really none of my business. I don't think you should have to defend yourself to anyone but try these simple steps.

1. get your wife 100% on board... explain how vaping works and what the ingredients are and how it is safer.

2. Tell your wife that as her husband your feelings and opinions are more important that some sisters BFs cousins goddaughter. They don't get to have an opinion. She needs to defend your healthy lifestyle.

3. Invite naysayers over one time... show them how vaping works, how much better you feel, and how its safer for you than smoking. Explain how you don't use vaping to cover up using other things.

4. Now we are all transparent and everything is on the table right? Everyone is happy now right? If someone still has a problem with it after you have exhausted every attempt to explain things then ...( fill in the blanks with profane language )...

I wouldn't even go past step one or two... but your wife is important... everything after that is just being diplomatic...

Not just one writer. Ignorance of that magnitude takes years of assistance and cultivation. Thank the school system, the media, and the entertainment industry for doing their jobs, keeping the masses ill informed so that they can be herded like sheep...

Just say "Hold that thought" and walk away rapidly. Don't go back ...
