CoilMaster v3, 2xLG18650HE2 2500mah 35A batteries and 100' Kanthal 28g wire ordered. LP/LS Red Reo Grand & RM2LP on the way and the Forum should keep me occupied for the weekend!

Papa: Just found the steam Engine calculator this AM. Tells me everything I need to know! I'm going to start with .8 1st and go from there.
Thanks for your thoughtful and comprehensive help, Papa!

Happy to help, t9c. This forum has been invaluable to me - least I can do is PIF.

28g is a great place to start with wire - arguably the most versatile gauge. Your .8ohm coil will pull 5.25A, so you're nice and safe with your batteries. It's going to vape a little more intensely than your 510's, but try it before you form any opinions about that. Many, many a Reonaut came in thinking they wanted one thing and then moved to a different style altogether. Let it evolve. Even superX, as experienced as he is, changes up his game fairly regularly. RBA's enable (and I choose that word carefully) this more than mods or juice can.

You got wire cutters, tweezers, and an ohm checker?

Just be prepared for a massive nic buzz like no other! It's pretty much garanteed!

All that experimenting and testing your first coil and all.. and the new reo on top! Yup.. have lots of fresh air and water close by hehe

Still love and use the rm2 to this day along with others but I'd be happy with just the rm2 no doubt.

I know you've had a reo for the past 4 years as you mentioned but just encase!

Make sure first thing you do is cut a inverted v shape like this "^" to the button of the feed tube after cutting it to size to where it's close to the bottom of the bottle but not bottoming out to where the tube is bending.

Then after you make your first coil and mount the new rm2 on the reo and fill your bottle. Take a couple of seconds to get the feel of how long it takes to feed and drain with the atty.. each bf rba is different and some take longer thrn others.. then you'll get an idea of how long you need to press in the bottle to properly feed the wick.

Know that the time it takes and pressure will increase as the bottle gets low so you may want to remove the top of rhe atty or drip tip and take a peak with a half bottle and near empty to see.

Thanks SteamStack, that's some great advice! Believe it or not, I just last night "v-notched" the tube after watching super_x's video and wondering why I wasn't getting the flavor bomb I'm used to. I had only tapered the end before and it was pressing against the side of the bottle, resulting in no squonk. V Notch to the rescue!
I am kind of worried about the squonk change to come. Right now I can see the pool fill, but with the RM, I'll use your suggestions and see what happens.

Yes he is and yes we are. :)

Oh, you guys

Lots of peeps pipe in with advice. There's prolly more experience crawling around in this sub than any other area of the whole forum. The compliment is duly noted and appreciated, nonetheless :toast:

I've been vaping on the new Red Grande LP with the RM RBA, CoilMaster turned coil @ 1.5 ohms with KGD and I think it's great! It took me awhile to get used to the hotter vape, but now I love blowing out clouds too. The vape isn't as tasty as my 510 atty based Reo, but it opened my eyes why.

The RM is more efficient at vaporizing the juice than the 510 is and I didn't realize that for so many years I've been getting some of the uncooked juice in my mouth with my lazy vaping habit. It happens so often and I know when it does, but I've grown used to it and this particular flavor (Tasty Finger) actually tastes good raw.

I also think I ordered the wrong RM, so I ordered a RM2 today. The one I now have is a "Reomizer LP".

Does anyone think I'll get a stronger flavor with the RM2?

I'll post some pics of the new Red Reo Grand LP in the pics thread, but here's some pics of my build.
Oh, and thanks to everyone here who guided my first venture into RBA builds!!!!

if you reduce your ohms i believe you will be able to get a stronger flavor. Thats my experience at least. What gauge kanthal are you using?

You have the "right" RM now (it's actually a RM2). The one listed as RM2 is just milled at the bottom to accommodate for the taller catch cup of the non-LP versions of the grand - otherwise it's identical to the RM you have. You might want to PM Rob to cancel the order as you don't need the milled version.

As far as build tips for flavour go, your atty works best with the coil as close to the edge of the deck as possible (without shorting on the cap) and right at the air hole. You should see it when you look through the hole (maybe use a magnifying glass to make sure). Even small adjustments/deviations to the coil positioning can have a profound effect on the flavour.

I'd also suggest you try building a little higher and then a little lower than you have now to experiment with the effects.

The one thing I do know is that the RM2 is a flavour machine, so I'm confident you'll dial in a killer vape.

That's ok, and good to know! I'll take the new RM2 and put it on my OG Red Reo G.
I've got the coil pert near the hole, but I could get it closer to the edge. I coiled it on the 2mm post in the CoilMaster V3 kit, following super_x_drifter's video.
OK, so time to experiment! Thanks guys!

Yup.. as close as possable to the edge of the atty and dead center of the air hole as possable without touching the cap and you should be golden.

It takes some practice building but when you get it right it will blow a 510 out of the water.

Yeah my fav is twisted 30 gauge (2 wires twisted with a drill bit) using a 2.5mm pole, 7 wrap. Comes out to 1ohm. I use kgd.

Also take the drip tip off to gauge where your coil lines up with the air hole with the cap on.. that way you have an idea of where to make sure you know where to put the coil when you put it on.. as its hard to see with the cap off.

Also how the coil lines up to relation to the height of the hole will play a roll in the hit.. I like my coil to sit slightly center to a tad higher thrn the hole for a smoother draw. If it's low to the hole it will be harsher and more throught hit.

Eventually you can try enlarging the air hole for bigger vaper but I here's no going back once you do and make a mistake and your screwed if it's too big. So if you do go for enlarging rhe hole, make sure to use tiny drill bits and go up a size larger at a time and test it.. also use a hand drill bit that you turn with your hand. That really helps cause the speed of a electric drill can easily make the hole much larger then the drill bit quick.

It's soft brass and easy to enlarge by hand. Really just a little bit larger if all you'll need.

P.s. having multiple rm2 is a good idea.. vape on one while experimenting with builds on another.
