Thinking of getting an e-cig to try

I have read several articles on this website and I have two major questions in mind before I make the jump to e-cigs.

1) The majority of my cigarette intake are either during periods of high stress (i.e. studying for school and/or a rough day at work) or during social gatherings (i.e. drinking either coffee or alcohol amongst others with a good conversation). How will the e-cig perform in these situations.

2) I am worried that the e-cig will not satisfy my smoking needs and as a result I will purchase both analogs and electronic nicotine thus causing me to spend more money on nicotine. Is this situation a problem that many people face?

A brief background on my smoking habit: I primarily smoke during periods of high stress or during social gatherings. Despite this, I do have a strong addiction to cigarettes themselves. Averaging my smoke intake in a given year, I would say I inhale roughly 1.2 packs per day; light days I will smoke 3-5 cigarettes, heavy days I'll smoke 2-3 packs, normal days I will smoke about 1/2 a pack.

answer:
1) yes it will work depending if you get a decent one with a good battery life on it. best part about it is if your stressed out studyin in your room you can vape indoors!
2)many other have had the same worries. its a matter of preference. find a good model you think you would like. box/tube mod. then decide. its cost alot to start up initially but if you are anything like me i used to buy a pack about every 24-48hrs. a pack is about $6 in so. cal. so in a month i spent atleast $120 a month. a good mod will pay for itself in a month's time.
the day i started vaping i stop smoking. in now into month 3 and i know that i have spend alot less even with buying all these extra's. if you weigh out the alternative (smoking) vs. your health. there is no excuse. you save money and you get your health back.
the closest i can get to a cigarette feeling is vaping at 6v with a 12mg tobacco flavor juice. some people go higher in nicotine level but i cant do it.. its too much throat hit for me. i used to smoke marlboro lights so 12mg seems fitting.
PM me if you have ever need any help. were pretty much neighbors. i live near Long beach. we usually meet up with other vapers in the area just to hang out and try eachothers devices.
enjoy your journey!

Hey...first off welcome bro...

Basically I can only tell you what worked for me...Back in August my friend and I ordered one of those Blu's off the net...Long story short..I hated it...In the meantime, I found this forum and started reading my ... off. I eventually decide to go with an Ego 510 for two reasons...1 was the wide availabilty of parts for it..and 2 was the battery life. The Blu would last an hour maybe...was horrible..

So anyways, for the first time in 25 years i put down cigarettes literally the minute I got my Ego...I wasnt even trying to quit...I had basically ordered the Blue with no expectaiton of it working. I have tried EVERYTHING over the years to quit..nothing has worked..Until this...

So basically, I was cruising around all happy happy vaping for a good 3 months or so...THen the unthinkable happened. BOTH my attys died at the same time...well they werent really dead...but fairly screwed up...anyways...I jumped online and placed an order for some....In the meantime..I picked up the smokes again cuz I didnt have my nicotine....Wait almost a week...the attys get there...I had ordered the wrong part...right back to square one....of course right back to 1 1/2 to 2 packs a day. So I was terrified that by the time I got the right attys that I would not be able to quit smokes. I thought that since this time I would be actually trying it would be very very hard..Well it was a TINY bit harder.....LOL...I ended up finishing up the pack I had bought when I got my stuff in the mail...

What I am trying to get across is that it can work. And has for many of us..But I ain't gonna lie and say it will happen that way for you. I hope it does...At the end of the day do whatever it takes to get off the smokes...We are all here to help

Take care

Hi vossn11, welcome to the forum.

In High Stress situations, eCigs, IMHO, perform better than an analog smoke.

This is because you have complete control over how much nicotine you need.
With a real smoke, once it's lit, you are pretty much committed to smoking the whole thing.
But with a PV, you can stop/start that process at any time, at will.
Not to forget, you can buy juice in varied nicotine amounts.

About your worries it will not satisy 'your needs.' >>
I was a smoker for 42 years, never quit but one time for a whopping 36 hours, and smoked under two packs a day, UN-FILTERED smokes. I bought a PV 'just to try it out.'
Well, I never touched a real smoke again.

Another example >>
If I was out of both analog and ecigs for a period of two days, and you appeared at my door with both, telling me I had to pick only one, I would pick the eCig EVERY TIME.
it is an amazing technology.

Welcome and glad you are giving the ecig a thought.
What you "try" will effect your overall experience.
What you "think" will also effect your experience.
You have come to the right place, for suggestions to help you
as this is not as simple as walking in the store and purchasing your favorite cig.

I also had analog cigs and the ecig/vaporizer at the same time when I first tried it.
I did both for 2 weeks. What I found out, was it became less and less important
to have that analog cig and the vaping/ecig took over.

But I also "wanted" to quit analogs, very much.

It sounds as if you are much younger (school studing).

I know you have heard this a thousand times.....but take if from someone who had been smoking for over
30 years.....and cannot walk up a set of stairs, without stopping along the way
to catch my breath.....who cannot lay down in bed at night without coughing for
a hour and the same with waking up and whose teeth have suffered the effects of smoking, I have high blood pressure, heart problems
and on and on....

THIS DOES WORK.....and only after 2 weeks of vaping, I have totally given up the analogs.
What have you got to loose......???
A lifetime free from those above nasty long term cigarette smoking repercussions.

You'll love vaping!
Many great cool flavors to vape with!
Your friends will want to try it as well...I guarantee it!
Give it a try!

granny speaks the truth here. It may take a kit or two, but you're off to a good start by finding ECF. Good luck, and don't be a stranger. Can't wait to read another success story. :)

vossn11-When I made my first purchase over a year ago-it wasn't to stop smoking-it was to see what vaping was all about. I loved smoking and had no intentions of quitting.
I even told my significant other that I was in no way attempting another quit. They were too stressful and I had no intentions of putting myself or anyone else through that kind of hell again. The pv arrived and it just happened.
What really happens is the pv just seems to take over your smoking. For some it is immediate while for others it happens over time. For a select few it never happens and vaping just isn't for them. If you do not put any pressure on yourself the switch is much easier. Let your body make the moves for you and at some point you will just decide that the cigarettes are not offering up what they used to and go into vaping full speed. For those that it takes longer, what they find is that they are smoking so much less that it still saves them from smoking X amount a day, a week, a month and so on.

For high stress, and I do mean HIGH STRESS times, I use an e-liquid called Desert Ship. It has that nasty cigarette taste, which you only understand after having not smoked for a bit.
I started with a Joye510, DSE901 and have accumulated a few mods, aka-big bat pv's.
I had smoked from age 12 to age 44. 32 years at a pack a day of Marlboro Medium 100's.

Say it takes 3 minutes to smoke a cigarette-I did it outside. That was an hour a day-7 hours a week-28 hours a month, 336 hours a year away from my family. But I had a great attitude.
I have found I can do the same thing with a pv yet without all the interruption of not being there.
For some, they have to include snuss (a smokeless tobacco) that has MAOI's to feed the chemical addiction. I have not had to go this route. You can find more on this subject here: Other Alternatives to Smoking
I do hope I did not ramble too much.
