..........with the intent of getting the tools needed to build me some pretty micro coils for my taifun gt. Staying under 50 dollars will you guys help me put together a shopping list of items I should get. I basically need everything from a screw driver to a little torch. I dont plan on doing anything super fancy but it wouldnt hurt to have a few variables to mess around within reason. My goal is to make 2ish OHM microcoils that that I will wick with cotton. I need to be treated as a child learning to walk for the first time. So instead of "you need a screw driver" if you could give me a specific size, shape or even brand id be forever grateful.

again, I apologize but ive been reading and watching videos and my head is swimming. A check list for my basic needs would work wonders. Thanks in advance to anyone who helps me out!

I don't know anything about the Taifun, so for screwdriver, I pass.

Obviously, you need Kanthal. Personally, I use 28 gauge, but a lot of people say to start out with 30 gauge and work from there. I ordered my Kanthal from Amazon, and only paid about 7$ for 100 feet. That's enough for about a year's worth of microcoils since they last so long lol.

I wrap my microcoils on a 5/64 drill bit. You could also use 1/16.

For torch, all I use is a refillable butane lighter. I bought mine at Walgreen's for 5$. It sort of looks like a zippo, but it's butane and not lighter fluid.

So Cal
I use a 16 gauge needle (already had one)
An eyeglass screwdriver (as above)
Temco wire (now cheaper on Ebay than at Temco - around $7 for $100 feet delivered)
Old butane lighter
Sterile cotton from CVS
Needle nose pliers I had lying around
Tiny tweezers for pullling cotton through
A magnifying headset I had from previous hobbies (you may not need this)
An ohm meter - around $19 from (discount vapers, I think?)? (Makes it easy to put the rda on for building also)
Whatever scissors happen to be handy to cut the wire - or nailclippers

For a 2ish ohm coil, I've used:

1/16 drill bit, 32g kanthal, 6 wraps gave me 2.13

5/65 drill bit, 32g kanthal, 6 wraps gave me 2.77 - 5 wraps gave me 2.28 (what I shoot for)

Ridiculously, TEN wraps on 1/16 30g gave me 2.28. I say ridiculous because it actually fit into my protank 2. Barely.

Ive got 28, 30 and 32 coming. 29 was out of stock at the moment. Huckleberried that sounds very much like what im going to try for. Thanks for all the suggestions

You're welcome! I was having too many issues for a bit, so I sat last weekend and coiled 11. Kept notes on each one and sorted them after the builds. So far, so good.

Good luck with yours!

OK, went and got a torch, two different tweezers, a set of little drill bits, a precision drill bit kit, an ohm meter, magnifying glass, needle nose pliers and a big bag of organic cotton.

I have success! I took a 1/64th drill bit, made 7 ish wraps of 32 guage, stuck a piece of cotton through the middle, somehow got it back into the protank head, laid 2 strips of silica flavor wick over my coil and it works! 2.66 ohms. Thing gurgles a bit like it wants to flood but hasnt yet. The protank seems to be a bit warm to the touch............it concerns me some but then again I never touched the protank over and over like an obsessed fool when I was using a premade coil
