Perhaps with some people they are looking for an exact copy of smoking and if not getting that they are not happy.

Yet if looking for that they don't realise that vaping can be a very good substitute once things fall into place.

I've read many times that people first starting go for the tobacco liquids but most of them after a while start trying other flavoured liquids and are impressed.

Some stay with the tobacco ones but may get say an ry4 with some vanilla and caramel tones or another liquid with other flavours.

Others though get stuck with wanting to copy a smoke as much as they can which if your vaping and your happy keep at it.

I'm not sure where the $400 price tag for the Provari 3 came from, because it is $249 for the satin silver, and $269 for either the black, or polished.

I spent about $300, all told when I upgraded from my evod tanks and batteries to a Provari 2.5 with 2 Nautilus tanks. More than just the Provari itself, I had to get the end cap to allow the use of 18650 batteries, the batteries themselves, and the charger. I went for the cheapest option- the satin finish, but I did spring for the blue LEDs, since I knew that it would be my last device for a long time. I wanted to add one cool aspect to it. :D

For me, it was worth it. I was looking for a reliable vape with minimum hassle. Most days, with the BVC coils, I only have to change batteries. It takes 30 seconds, tops. Worst case, I have to refill or change the head, and I'm set for the rest of the day or more. I just make sure to put in a fresh one if I'm going to be out for a while, and now carry a few extra tanks for flavor changes in my upper inside coat pocket. It's really no more difficult than grabbing my pack and zippo used to be.

As mentioned, there are other, cheaper options than the Provari, but with a good tank like the Nautilus, vaping really can be hassle free.

Finally, I hope you (the OP) checked out the link to the WTA thread. I started that thread before I had tried it. It's changed my life and outlook on vaping. At this point there's no willpower required to keep from smoking- vaping is different, but just as satisfying. Obviously, I can't guarantee that it will work for you, since all of us were/are addicted to different aspects of smoking.

But I do understand the need to rant.

I first started with an eGo-T, so I can relate completely. How well I remember tanks not pushed all the way in, taking apart & washing those damn atomizers every couple of days, and the leaking, and leaking, and leaking! Then they came out with the "B" atomizer, it was bigger ... and so were the problems.

then someone mentioned that a little ole 510 dripping atomizer screws right on

i get not wanting to build your own coils or dropping 400 bucks on a provari etc op.

why not try a 30 dollar eleaf and a mini nautilis bvc? 50 bucks you got a very decent vape, then buy yourself a few bottles of 24 nic 'tobacco' flavour.

great little stealth set up , simple to use, cheap, works for me.

that's EXACTLY the set up I've got here next to me for my daughter for Christmas...she's a Nauti fan...

she did plan and execute a relapse after a bad day at work..why CHOICE. just that one pack day..she's back on vaping thank goodness.

Eventually that's what it gets down to..a decision to NOT SMOKE. It's NEVER going to be the same..it can't be..that blast of dopamine to your brain..but what you can do is find a satisfying vape that provides that "ah..there it is..nicotine my old friend" with a hand to mouth and satisfying exhale.

if you want to quit..quit..if you don't don't..but quit mucking around with it..your'e just torturing yourself.

    good luck! :)

No kidding. 90% of my vaping is just done on a little ole 510 dripping atty that screws right on. Some people see dripping as a hassle. I don't understand why given the alternatives. Plus, I can change flavors whenever I like.

I learned direct dripping when I got my first eGo kit, a 650mAh with a cartridge system, although I preferred (and still prefer) a LR 306 atty. I think it's a shame that for many people "Dripping" has come to mean Rebuildable Dripping Atomizers (RDAs) and vapers are missing out on dripping, because they think it involves building coils.

Dripping with a regular 510 or 306 atty is still the easiest and least expensive way to test new flavors and kicking back while dripping is very relaxing. It's a ritual I find soothing, especially while watching a movie or reading on the internet. A simple "Old School" (sarcasm alert) set-up can be had for under $10.00 and if taken care of the attys can last a very long time. I have a couple that are over 2 years old. If you are unfamiliar with this vaping method, check out my blog:

Drip, drip, drip...the Sound of Dripping

Another benefit of learning this style of dripping is that once you understand how it works it makes using bottom-feeders and RDAs easier - at least in my case. I can tell when to squonk or drip without having to pay attention to how many puffs I've taken or waiting until I get a partially dry or weak hit.

My first ProVari, which I am using at this very moment, was a Satin Silver mini blem. It was $150.00, plus the blue LED. I was trying to save money, so I didn't buy the extension cap. I actually didn't buy one for over a year, since I like the little 18350 size; I just switched batteries a lot. To further save money I bought batteries and the smallest charger I could find that were on sale from another vendor. This charger may be be small, but it works very well if you're only using 18350s:

I mentioned it as an option... though my posts in this thread seem to be largely ignored. I'm not entirely sure the OP is looking for a "solution." Which is fine, we all need to rant about things sometimes.

Not ignored. In fact, I'll at least look at Provari.

I just took a cursory look at a website that sells them. Not cheap and many options is my first impression. And they had something that glows in the dark. I've always loved stuff that glows in the dark. I'll look into them a bit more. Despite the price, if I order one and it works as well as they say it will, I'll be happy.

A couple of you said I was using old equipment. I hadn't thought of that. The first e-cig I bought was complete crap (I can't remember the name, but it was about 7 years ago). The ones I use now are just enough to get by, but not as satisfying as I would like.

And of course there's still the same problems - if I don't get a decent hit, is the battery dead? did I run out of fluid? Is the clearomizer dead? What makes this worse is batteries don't just die. They become weaker over time. The same thing happens when your clearomizers or cartomizers wear out. I can usually taste when a clearomizer runs dry though (horrible).

I don't own a provari, I mentioned it because it is touted as one of the most reliable power systems available. Most advanced PV's have a battery indicator, and any regulated device should keep a steady power output until the charge runs out. Even the ego batteries should do this. Also, with the dripping atomizers(disposable or rebuildable), you literally vape it until the few drops you put in it are gone, then put more in or put it away.

A couple of things: ProVape usually has a Cyber Monday sale. Last year it was 10%. Also, they often have models in the clearance section that are either overstock or "blems." Blems are devices that have a minor cosmetic blemish - they function just fine - most of us who have blems are at a loss what the blemish might be. Another idea is to get verified for the classifieds, you can usually pick-up a 2.5 with an extension cap and charger for roughly $160. If buying secondhand you don't get the warranty, but OOW repairs are very reasonable and rarely necessary. I've had glass toppers get smashed and twice had 510 connectors snap off without a scratch to the ProVari.

Regarding the new P3: I am the ProVarinati Princess and will not lead you astray. I have 7 2.5s and a P3 that will be here this afternoon. For the average vaper, including me, the P3 is overkill. I'm only getting one for my collection. I wasn't allowed to have Barbies as a kid, so I am making up for it now.

And of course there's still the same problems - if I don't get a decent hit, is the battery dead? did I run out of fluid? Is the clearomizer dead? As Lessifer said, weakening power won't happen with a regulated mod. Performance like that comes from unregulated devices, where the power is dependent on the battery charge. As the battery discharges the voltage goes down. Regulated devices have boost/buck circuits that keep the voltage steady at what it's set for until it can no longer produce the power level and blinks to be recharged.

Ah, so you are looking into the ProVari. I’m, nor is anyone else, telling you to get one. I DO use one and love it. Well, I use two of them. They really stand behind their products.

If you are going to get one, get it from ProVape, the folks that make them. Here’s the website ProVape E-Cigarettes: Buy Electronic Cigarettes & Vapor Smokeless Cigs Be sure to keep an eye on their clearance page Specials Most are “blems,” but it’s a challenge, if not impossible, to find the blemish.

Here’s a video on how they are made

If something goes wrong with the ProVari, you just send it in to be fixed. If something goes wrong with your ego or whatever, you toss it. You’d probably be astonished at how much better a Spinner is over your current vape.

ETA Crap, beaten again. Leaving it since I put the links in. :D

Spending that much on a regulated mod is anyones personal choice. I kinda get it, with the warranty and overall quality. But it seems kinda crazy, especially when someone can have a decent cloned mechanical(30), decent clone rda/rba(30), a pair of quality batteries(25), a quality charger(20), some kanthal n' cotton (10), and a fair amount of juice(35?) for less than 150 dollars!!! And thats a high estimate.

Im not really knocking it, because I believe its the best of the 'limited capability mods' out there. However, I feel with all that research, development, and money, they could do a bit better than a 3.5 max amp limit and still be safe. I may never understand.

I have my old egos, and exactly one mod- my Provari. I've had it for a year, and until my wife suggested I get some sort of backup in case it goes in for repairs, I never thought about buying another. All of the money that I've saved not buying other devices has probably come close to paying for the Provari.

For some of us it's a hobby. I smoked for 40 years and never thought I would quit, so when I reach a milestone I want to buy something memorable - preferable expensive - to reward myself. Every 6 months I buy something different, which is how I've ended up with ProVaris, Reos, Woodvils and authentic mechanicals. Each one has it's own uses and I enjoy them all. This amount of gear is completely unnecessary, but I prefer it to collecting shoes or Coach bags. And it's all just for me, I don't know anyone outside of forums who would have a clue what I'm vaping. When I'm out and about, people I meet are far more interested in the Serenity Gear sleeves I use than what's inside of them. I have only seen one other ProVari in the wild and that was in a vape shop.

First off, I spent a lot of money trying different ones. They all sucked. NONE of them hit like a real cigarette. There is no satisfaction from an e-cig.

But I'm sick enough of real cigarettes that I finally settle on a particular brand. Okay, these are alright I thought. I can get by with these I thought. They're not great, but whatever. And then BAM! All of a sudden they're out of stock of their only clearomizers that are worth a crap. And I mean they've been out for MONTHS!

I order stuff online, wait a few days and then when it finally comes, it's the wrong stuff. These clearomizers don't even fit or this isn't what I ordered happens way too often.

I used to hate my weekly pilgrimage to the 7-11 to buy a carton of cigarettes, but this is turning out to be worse. With real cigarettes, at least I knew what I was getting and the product was consistent and I NEVER had to worry about getting more. There was no messing around with chargers. All you need is a cigarette and a source of flame. Setting things on fire is easy.

Since my e-cig of choice is (according to them) only able to supply at the whim of some factory in China I have a table littered with used clearomizers - just in case I can't get a new one, maybe I can get by with a used one I already decided was pretty much dead.

So when I was out earlier today, I ALMOST bought a pack of cigarettes. Really, all I need is a pack of cigarettes, an empty beer bottle to put the ashes and a few matches. What could be simpler?

But no, now I've got chargers. I've got batteries and clearomizers and bottles of nicotine juice cluttering up the place.

And while e-cigs are cheaper, you get what you pay for and in my experience everything is a gamble. I read reviews here and considered a few different e-cigs. Then I shelled out somewhere around $100 only to find out it was a piece of junk (I'm trying not to use profanity here). Money completely wasted. I'd have been better off grinding it up and rolling it into a cigarette.

But I didn't buy real cigarettes. Instead I bought a Vuse. It tastes horrible, but I got a free one a while back and I know it delivers somewhat consistently until it's dead. It's not overly heavy. It's not clumsy to pick up between 2 fingers. I'm not shilling for them though. I absolutely detest the fact that I was driven to buy one.

At least with a cigarette you knew when you were done. There's a certain feeling you get as you take that first drag off a real cigarette just as you get it lit. There's a different feeling as you finish it and snuff it out in an ashtray or flick it away (please do NOT litter!). It's just satisfying. Sometimes it's even better than sex.

With e-cigs, it's just always sort of burning in the ashtray. Unless the battery is dead or the clearomizer is empty or just too used up. There's no climax. That's another thing I hate. If my e-cig isn't hitting well, I don't immediately know what's wrong. It could be a few things, a couple of which don't just work or not work but instead go from working okay to not working at all, but gradually.

And I get annoyed at the e-cig zealots. I know this is probably going to step on some toes here, but this is how I honestly feel. Whenever e-cigs come up on forums around the internet there are always a handful of zealots. They post pictures of their ridiculous looking "mods". Okay, admittedly some of them are cool looking, but why bother? They're also the ones who claim that "it's just water vapor". Yeah, right. What's in the flavoring? Who makes sure they don't use lead and mercury as flavoring? No one, that's who.

Sure, e-cigs are probably much safer than conventional cigarettes, but that's just a feeling I have not supported by any scientific evidence. At least with REAL cigarettes there was no question about whether or not we were breathing in toxins.

I see e-cigs as a nicotine delivery system. I know some people just vape for the flavor and don't have any nicotine in what they're vaping, but I really wonder about them. Are they just trying to look cool? Are they hipsters? Are they the type of people who used to carry around Tic Tacs?

And now I'm worried about vaping in public. And I'm not sure I'm allowed to say why here.

I think that most of us went through what you are in the beginning. At least those of us that started vaping years ago when equipment was nowhere near as good as it is now. It is much easier to smoke than vape for certain. But, it is well worth the learning curve to feel so much better and save your health IMO

In regards to the folks that vape zero nic, just think about how much of addiction to smoking the habit part is. Lighting the cig, flicking the ashes, inhaling the smoke, etc. You touched on some of that in your post. Well, I feel that the habit part of smoking is just as addictive as the nicotine is. Most folks that choose to vape zero nic are most likely doing so in order to keep from going back to a much unhealthier habit :2c:
